would you send your kids to school with a fever?
Anthony275 wrote: just wanting to see what you would do, since apparently my mom felt it was appropriate to send me to school today with one
redchief replied: No, I wouldn't send my child to school with a fever. In fact, Katie didn't go to school today basically because she simply felt like crapola. Of course, she doesn't try to get out of school as a rule either.
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: No.
jem0622 replied: Heck no! And in most schools there is a policy against it. They must be free of fever/pukies/diarrhea for 24 hrs before returning to school.
lisar replied: No. And Lexi's school will send her home if she has one.
lisar replied: BTW next time you have one go the office and tell them and they will check you for one and call your mom and tell her to come and get you.
lovemy2 replied: You aren't doing anyone any favors you know - bringing all your germs to work
Calimama replied: No, I wouldn't. How old are you?
bawoodsmall replied: Bellas mommy(Denise??) stole my question. I hope I dont because its kinda mean imo. I like the idea of going to the nurse. It would serve her right.
Anthony275 replied: im 17 ok i never miss school, i don't know where she's getting the idea that i lie and say im sick. last year i had food poisoning (i dont throw up) and instead of letting me stay home she made me go to school. i was home 1 hour later anyway she lets my brother have illegal absentses all the time but i havent stayed home sick from school since 7th grade
as for going to the nurse, she wont do anythging except make me take a nap which i refuse to do in my schools nurses office
Calimama replied:
bawoodsmall replied: Do you not drive? I think here they calll your mom and then send yu home.
Anthony275 replied: i drive but i didnt today because i didnt feel well enough to do so
she would let him go to the city w/ his friend or do something withm y dad for a day stuff like that which dosent make sense
bawoodsmall replied: That is really crappy that she treats the two of you different. I hope you start to feel better.
Boo&BugsMom replied: Nope. Although a mild temp, yes, like 99 or so. Anything close to or above 101, no.
Calimama replied: Ohh that I thought you meant drugs. Sorry.. I watch too many movies.
ediep replied: no way
lovemy2 replied: OMG - I thought you were being silly and you were older and went to work not feeling well Sorry - I guess I wondered who you really were for awhile but never asked
My2Beauties replied: No I wouldn't, maybe a mild one, like someone else said 99 degrees or so, but anything over 100 or 101, then heck no.
My3LilMonkeys replied: Same here, as per my doctor's advice. Under 100 degrees with no other symptoms, OK to go to school, work, whatever. Over 100, stay home.
Cece00 replied: No, I wouldnt. Not even a mild one.
MoonMama replied: Plain and simple....NO!
Kentuckychick replied: Nope. Especially now that I've worked in a preschool. It's irresponsible and inconsiderate to the child and to the people you're exposing. The last place a kid needs to be when they don't feel well is at school and the last thing a teacher needs to deal with is a sick kiddo.
My grandmother sent me to school once after a night of vomiting from food poisoning (my parents were out of the country and never would have done that!) and I still haven't forgotten how bad I felt to this day.
At 17 I would go to the office and tell the nurse to call my mom and tell her I'm coming home. If I were honestly ill I wouldn't have given her a choice at that age (heck my mom came and picked me up once when I had a nose bleed in high school!). I don't know how the rules at your school work though... I went to private school so regardless of age you still had to have a parent note and permission to leave.
I hope you feel better!
gr33n3y3z replied: you had this for awhile now you should go to the Dr
MotherForever2043 replied: I say abosolutely NOT! It could get worse when they are at school.
holley79 replied: No, I wouldn't but I remember having schoolitis a lot in school and my mom didn't buy it when I was sick.
Anthony275 replied: im seriously going to rub these responses in my moms face later when she gets home
luvbug00 replied: NO. I don't feel it's fair to the other kids or their parents to senf your child to school with ANY kind of illness for many reasons.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: Definately not!
Anthony275 replied: my mom said in response "you're getting over it"
moped replied: You are still sick - good lord......
why doesn't she want to send you to the doc???
Also, I don't think I would send my kid to school with a fever, but honestly I don't know
Anthony275 replied: my mom is satan- she says that going to the doctor wont do anything except say that i have a cold
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: No, but I'm going to do with Logan as my mom did with me. He will have 2 mental health days per semester. He can use them at his discretion so long as there are no exams scheduled that day. If I felt like crapola, I didn't have to go. No questions asked. Simply said, Mental health day, Mom?
Anthony275 replied: i know what you mean about the mental health day thing, my mom would never consider that; she sent me to school literally 12 hours after my grandfather died.. she thinks ill miss too much in school that day. i barely do anything as it is in my classes because they have to be easy since i am with slightly retarded kids all day..dont know why
i swear, the next time she sends me to school like this, i am just walking out of the building and going home
