sparkys2boys wrote: the winter blah's??? I don't know if it's winter or the end of the holidays but I can't motivated to do anything. I'm moody and just plain blahh lately. Am also short tempered lately. Anyone else like this??

C&K*s Mommie replied: I am sorry to hear that you are feeling this way. Do you think it is enough to warrent a talk with your doctor? I hope things (the blahs) go away for you soon, and you can feel like normal once again.

To answer your ??, I get the blahs off and on (hormones I think) anyhow, but I do not attribute it to the winter at all. Just being a woman with many moods. emlaugh.gif Besides, we have been having gorgeous weather so there is so much to be happy for that we can still play outdoors in summerwear.

moped replied: I do and I think for me it is the lack of daylight up here - 7.5 hours max right now UGH

gr33n3y3z replied: I have winter blues right now bc its Jan. and 58 degrees out that shouldnt be lol

Maddie&EthansMom replied: YES!!! sleep.gif

It's been overcast here as well. I'm just ready for spring already. happy.gif

coasterqueen replied: I usually do, but this year I don't......so far. The winter is still early, but so far we've had great weather for the most part. The weather is making it hard to have the blues. We've also been focusing on some inside projects, took two weeks off work to have some fun and enjoying the holidays. I get the blues the worst between January and March. rolleyes.gif

CantWait replied: Well I suffer from depression, but it does tend to get worse once the winter hits. I've noticed even though it's not cold outside still, that the last week, it's been worse. I'm not motivated to do a whole lot, not even go to the gym which I was doing pretty good on for awhile.

HuskerMom replied: The winter gets me down too. The only thing good about it is going sledding, that's a good way to spend the afternoon. We've got two blizzards in nebraska in the last couple weeks and I got snowed in for a little while. But it helped to keep busy inside, and my son did a good job of keeping me busy baby.gif

Boys r us replied: I usually get them once the holidays are over, but this year..I have far too much going on to have time to think about it being winter and icky....a new baby, surgery next week, not to mention it's been BEAUTIFUL weather here!

luvmykids replied: Normally I don't but right now I do have a touch...I think being snowed in so much has gotten to me. I like snow and cold but it's been too much and I'm just sick of it, it is at the point where we've had our fun and now it just makes my daily life miserable dry.gif A little sun and I'll be fine.

eta: I always get a little bummed after all the Christmas stuff is put away, the house looks so bare to me and it's hard to readjust rolleyes.gif

Kentuckychick replied: I'm sorry to hear you're feeling "blah" hug.gif

There were several winters in a row that were very bad for me as far as the winter blues or seasonal depression or SAD (whatever they call it these days) goes. I was working a job where I literally went in before the sun came up and came home after it had gone down and I was on the second floor with no windows. I just never saw the light of day and I think that had a lot to do with. I was suffering some depression too which was actually later linked to an antidepressant I was taking for migraines (go figure) so that didn't help either. I don't think I've ever been so down in my life though... it was awful at times.

These past two winters have been so much better though. I know the weather isn't supposed to be like this, and I do wish that we could have at least one or two good snows a year (a deep snow that would last a week or so then melt away) but other than that I'm perfectly content with the 60 degree temperatures we've been having. cool.gif

One piece of advice I can offer that really helped me is to try the tanning bed or buy those therapeutic lightbulbs. I know the tanning bed's bad for you, but it can be SO helpful even going for 5-10 minutes once a week. And just try to get in as much daylight as possible. Do things you enjoy and if it gets bad enough don't hesitate to talk to your doctor about it. You're definitely not alone.
