when do babies start sucking their thumb regularly

My3LilMonkeys replied: All depends on the baby really - some never do. Madison was less than a day old when she found her thumb and she sucked it consistently from then on until she was almost 2. She still at 2 1/2 sucks it on occasion when she's very tired or upset.

Our Lil' Family replied: Thomas sucked his in the womb...we saw on the u/s. After he was born for a while he sucked his middle two fingers, then eventually moved on to his thumb again.

lovemy2 replied: Olivia sucked her thumb in utero - saw it on almost every ultrasound pic - she came home sucking her thumb but was about 6 weeks old before she could really get it and keep it in her mouth - she still sucks her thumb at FIVE - although it is much less often now - Dylan was about 12 weeks before he really found his and he only sucks when he gets tired and you give him his blanket....

DillsMommy replied: Peyton tries to stick his WHOLE fist in his mouth. Not sure if he's trying to find his thumb or whats going on. But sometimes he actually gags himself. He's been doing that for a couple weeks now.

You just described Aubrey to the T. She sticks her whole hand in her mouth and is constantly gagging herself Hanna never sucked her thumb, she took a paci though. Aubrey takes a paci but is always trying to stick those fingers in her mouth.
