whats the average family size? - you have loads of kids!!
kel wrote: ive noticed you guys have lots and lots of kids!! here in south africa more than 2 kids is considered a big family..i hardly know anyone with more than 2 was just wondering how many kids you have and what is considered an "average" number of kids where you are??
kimberley replied: i have 3 kids but most people i know IRL have only 1 or 2 the most. i am in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: I have 2 children, and I'm expecting a 3rd. I don't know about the others, but I can financially support my kids enough to have this 3rd child.... we have the space, the money, so why not?
Sure, we could adopt. And we probably would have eventually, we weren't planning this pregnancy....
I've noticed that in my family, 2 seems to be the average. I have 2 aunts who have 3 kids, and they are classified as "negligent" by their siblings, because the family thinks that they can't possibly have enough attention for 3 kids....
I think it's just a matter of choice - along with culture, economy, and laws. Like In China, there is a limit on kids.... because of the population.
Maybe in South Africa, PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong - because there is so many "problems" with starvation etc.etc..... that people socially feel it is unappropriate to have more kids because of all the other peoples' difficulties?
I dunno..,..
?
mummy2girls replied: I have one angel in heaven and one angel here with me... Majority is 2-3 where i am... edmonton alberta canada. BUT there are families with more then 5 where i am:)
mommy2owen replied: I have 2 kids and I'm expecting number 3. I'm in southern mayrland and most people in the area have 2-4 kids, some with more, not very many with less. There is one family in my neighborhood with 9 kids, 7 of them were adopted from Russia.
We plan to have 4 kids, maybe more!
lovemyboy replied: I want to have 4! We want to have three natural and one adopted. But you know, plans change!
A&A'smommy replied: Well I'm in alabama and I know lots of people who have more than 2 kids. I want four kids but if that doesn't happen dh and I will definilty have 3, I want the fourth to be adopted
5littleladies replied: We have 3 kids, one on the way and our plan is to have one more after this, but we will see what happens. Maybe we will have more, maybe less.
In my family the average is 3 kids in a family-for the area I live in, I'd say 2-3.
gr33n3y3z replied: We have 4 children I would say the average in our area is 3 children We live in Southern NJ
kel replied: i would love to have a big family but even for a family who bring in a big income we would only be able to send 2 kids to university and good schools..its tough..education here is so expensive ...i guess thats the difference between a 1st world and a 3rd world country huh?
MichaelsMommy replied: I have 3 myself, twin girls and baby Michael - but my DH has 2 boys that live with their mom in MN - so 5 all together for our 'family'
Most around us have 2 or 3.
loveydad replied: Well first of all "load" isn't that nice of a word LOL for describing a family.
Around here it's about 3-4. Sometimes more.
I have 8. And I will have more probably. Well 7 and one on the way. Also my son has 2 that's why I have 10.
Alice replied: We have 3. The average here is probably 2 or so. But I'm one of 5, and growing up that wasn't considered to be big.
TANNER'S MOM replied: I have 4..Well 3 of my own and a step daughter.
I think we might have a better public school system here. It doesn't cost(other than tax dollars) really to send a child to school. And they when they are college age there are scholarships available. A lot of kids take out loans for there college. I think here in the states..if the parents are able to pay for college it is great, but if not the kids work for it themselves. It is a give and take, but you really learn real world stuff and a work ethic.
Here in the south I know people with 16 kids (the duggers) and 2-3 is the normal. I just consider myself above average
Mommy2BAK replied: HAHA! I was thinking Jim Bob too! They have a huge family!!!!
I only have one.... so far!
kel replied: i didnt mean to be offensive ..loads is merely another word for many .. and just because i used the word "loads" does not mean i think a family is any less valid/important because it is large .
kel replied: i dont think it is starvation but rampant teen pregnancies/aids/aids orphans a whole generation is dying here (the 20-30 year olds) which leaves a huge gap in between the young and the old..although... i think all that is a factor yes, but in most homes its merely a case of what you can afford.with VERY little help from the government it is really all down to the parents what type of life their children would have ..for example..having many children without the finances to send them all to school/university is quite reckless here..education is VITAL because unemployment is really bad.. sorry ive rambled on a bit..
3xsthefun replied: We have 2 kids, I would like to have 3 kids but I'm not sure if it will happen or not.
I think the average around here is 2-4 kids we live in West Virginia.
kit_kats_mom replied: Most of the families i see have 2-3 children. I have two and plan to keep it that way.
Perhaps one of the differences is that here in the states, we are a culture of debt and living above our means.
Becky74 replied: I grew up one of 5 kids (all girls ) I have 2 kids and will not have any more of my own (got a tubal done ) but I do want to look into Foster Parenting when we get more stable (we are in the Air Force so we move every 3 years and can deploy, etc.) Around here it is pretty common for just 2 (I live in Massachuettes)
My2Beauties replied: I have two, one natural and a step daughter! DF doesn't want anymore but I would be open to having one more maybe once our financial situation is able to carry the financial burden of a 3rd child!
Kaitlin'smom replied: I have one and it seems to me the average around here is 2-3
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Thanks for clearing it up.... I've never been to Africa....all I see of it is on the TV with the World Vision stuff etc!!
Isabellasmom replied: I have one. I don't know about anymore because I'm a single mother and don't know what the future holds. I do want another 1-2 but I guess we'll have to see. My family is a large family. the amount of children range in my family from 3 to 13 (yes, my aunt had 13, 11 living).
elvisfan replied: I have three boys, one angel in heaven and am pregnant with my 4th living child. In my church where my dh's a pastor we have numerous families that have 4-5kids. One has 7, another 9 and the biggest one has 12 and they are hoping to adopt now. We aren't living above our means nor is even the biggest families I know. None are on welfare or anything. I've been to Africa! I went to Burkina Faso.
amymom replied: We have two. I am one of six children. 3 of my siblings each have two children.
The average around here is two, I would guess.
I would love to have had more I always wanted to be the mother of 10, but we were only sent these two to care for and raise. My mother was one of 13 so I have 36 first cousins on my mother's side alone.
ammommy replied: We have 2, but always wanted 3. That's just not in the cards for us. Most people I know have 1 or 2 unless they have twins the second time around.
mammag replied: I have 4. The rest of my family have 0, 1 or 2 and act like I'm a nutcase for having so many. The funny thing is I'm the last of 4 and even my dad says I have "too many kids". Hello?!?! Are we forgetting you had the same number???
iluvmysweetiepies replied:
We have five. Well, we thought we were going to have four LOL I only have one sibling but DH has 7, so we both wanted a larger family. Around here most people have 3, although I know many people with 4 or 5 kids. DH keeps bugging me for another. He wants a little boy We'll see what happens.
loveydad replied: *laughs* I know I'm just kidding.
~Life*as*I*know*it~ replied: Well where we are 1 hour outside of seattle its 2-3. If you go 5 miles from where we live its 3-4.
kel replied: thank goodness for that! *wipes forehead!!*
