what is your opinion? - tethers?

ediep wrote: I was wondering what you all think of the child tethers? Do you have one? Does you toddler like it? Do you think they look like a dog leash? I am wondering because Jason gets very antsy in the stroller after a while and I figured if we were somewhere that he could walk around the tether would be an added safety.

amynicole21 replied: We bought one, but have never used it. I don't see a problem with them, really. So many things can happen in a crowded place, and anything to keep the baby safe is fine by me thumb.gif

kimberley replied: personally, i don't like them but i would never flame someone else for using one. that is their choice as a parent. my mom used on one me and i always thought i looked like her cute little pet on a leash lol. i guess i am jaded against them because she kinda treated me that way too. but i can understand why someone would use one for added safety in a crowded area. i just choose not to go places that are really crowded with little kids.

5littleladies replied: I have one and have used it with Megan and Brianna. I know alot of people don't like them but I don't worry about that-I just worry about my kids. happy.gif

Zoe'sMommaCamie replied: i was never a fan of them, but now that zoe can walk i'm reconsidering them wink.gif anything to keep my kiddo close and safe is fine by me! smile.gif

momof2girls replied: Before I had kids Id say my gosh they look like a dog leash but when my oldest started walking and would not stay in her stroller I used one but I would still not let her far from me.
I agree who cares what people say, you care enough about your kids and that is what matters.
What upsets me is when I see a lil kid and dont see a parent anywhere near them.

Jamison'smama replied: I don't have one but under the right circumstances would consider it---I have a wrist to wrist one for Jamison but she won't tolerate it.

lsjulee replied: Well actually I was considering getting one for An. He just too much a wanderer. And he definately can out run you. LOL. dry.gif

Boys r us replied: I wouldn't want to use one, but if it came down to it(especially in todays' world) I'd use it in a HEARTBEAT!!!!!!!
I say if he's not happy in a stroller and tends to not want to stay right with you, then go for it! It's all about his safety and when it comes to that, who really gives a flip how many strangers look at you oddly!!! right!!!

coasterqueen replied: I would never use one but don't look down upon anyone else who does. Kylie absolutely refuses to sit in a stroller or grocery cart or anything. sad.gif She either wants to be held or she wants to walk so we spend a lot of time keeping a very close eye on her. If I didn't have my own personal issues with them I'd use one in a flash. blush.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: you know I dont like the look of them, I totaly understand why people use them, but I just dont think I could.

DansMom replied: I don't like the look of them either, but I can see using one in a crowded public place like an airport or a mall, mainly to prevent theft of my child by a weirdo (I am very paranoid about abduction and panic the very moment Daniel is out of my sight in a public place). Under normal circumstances I would not be likely to use one, but I have talked to a dad who said that one of his sons was so out of control for a certain time period that he was nearly killed by cars in a parking lot on several occasions. They had been against tethers, but found themselves resorting to one in the case of this particular child who would run away on purpose into traffic. Also, they had more than one child, which tends to add to the inability to stay on top of the situation parentally.
