what if we were animals?

cameragirl21 wrote: some of you with whom I've spoken to in private are aware of my awfully somber mood lately so in an effort to lighten up my mood and hopefully that of others, I am embarking on one of my fave activities from childhood--trying to figure out what kind of animal a person would be if s/he were an animal.
i hope no one takes this as an offense as I hold animals in the highest regard and many say i like them better than people, and that is probably true. wink.gif
so this is really a combination of:
a. my love for animals
b. my slightly twisted sense of humor
c. my philosophical nature and
d. my somewhat somber and bored mood.
So here is what IMO we would be if we were in fact, animals:
cameragirl--black leopard (a vegetarian one)
Kimberley--black cat with big yellow eyes, extra long whiskers and soft, plushy fur
Zen Mommy--Atlantic bottlenosed dolphin
Jcc64--Kenyan lioness
hannasmommy--baby white fur seal
coasterqueen--sable colored Angora rabbit w/lop ears
CKmommy--sea turtle
AmyNicole--Peruvian Blue iridescent butterfly (can't remember the exact name but it's that big, beautiful butterfly with the blue wings that lives in Peru and not in the US sad.gif )
MommytoAshley--Red Bengal tigress
Kit Kat's mom--Lemur (i absolutely love lemurs btw, they are very cute and have ET fingers)
Jennasmommy--white dove
Jenhopkins--lilac point Siamese cat
Moonmama--fuzzy yellow duckling
Luvmykids--white mare w/whitish gray mane and grayish nose
MysweetpeaWil--koala bear
Jamison'smama--Kalahari cheetah
Redchief--owl
Greeneyes--Canadian lynx
Crystalina--ocelot
4littleladies--brown mama bear w/4 cuddly cubs
paradisemommy--sun conure
Bellasmommy--kangaroo w/baby in pouch
-----------
ok, i know i'm forgetting some people but my mind is drawing a blank so this will be it for now...i can always go back and add more.... happy.gif

kit_kats_mom replied: Lemur? Really? What made that pop into your head? rolling_smile.gif I'm totally cracking up right now. You are hysterical.

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: What am I? You don't have to, I've not posted too much lately.

kit_kats_mom replied: I love that Jeanne is a lioness...from Kenya no less, and Amy is a butterfly. Sounds about right IMO. rolling_smile.gif As long as you didn't say I was a Tamarin. Those little guys freak me out. Their faces are way too human...look like little tiny witch doctors. Cool to watch until you get a good look at thier faces! YIKES!

cameragirl21 replied: Sorry, Kelly, didn't mean to leave you out--you are a small, young timber wolfling with an excellent temperament and very clear eyes.
Cary--you have always said that you are different from others, I hear that in many of your posts so I knew you'd have to be something exotic and atypical. You seem to be a deep thinker and if you look at a lemur, their eyes are so big and deep that you get the impression that they'll talk to you and not just chit chat but talk philosophically to you. I also get the impression that you do a lot of thinking at night, and lemurs are nocturnal.... wink.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Very nice, I have always loved wolves. I adore the reintroduction program in Yellowstone and Idaho.

amynicole21 replied: Lemur - lol! Cracking up here. I'd love to be a dainty butterfly, but lately I feel like a lumpy panda bear. tongue.gif

luvbug00 replied: do i really want to know mine? emlaugh.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: if i cant be a lion thats a good pick I like those ty lol

cameragirl21 replied: why do you want to be a lion, Lisa?
I do love lions but i think the males are more interesting looking than the females but then the females do all the hunting and everything and the males are just plain lazy!
anyway, i LOVE lynxes, you should see them in pictures of them in the wild, they are so amazing looking, they literally seem unreal, like a costume from the musical "Cats" or something!

Jamison'smama replied: Okay, I have to ask....Kalahari cheetah??

cameragirl21 replied: You don't want to be a Kalahari Cheetah, Brenda?
How come? They are beautiful, they are very fast, and their cubs are beyond adorable and they make a funny noise, like a mix between a cat meowing and a sheep bleating....

Jamison'smama replied: Oh, I didn't say I didn't want to be one...just wondered why you chose it. I agree, they are beautiful...long legs and fast runners so in an alternate life, I sure might chose those qualities---(I'm 5'1). I do have beautiful cubs sleep.gif

PrairieMom replied: You didn't mention me, but I will tell you that I am a total Chihuahua. laugh.gif I'm way timid and have huge anxiety issues. I'm not as tiny as I used to me, so I guess I am a overwieght Chihuahua. laugh.gif

cameragirl21 replied: Brenda, here's the thing--you do not pick fights, and neither do cheetahs, as opposed to other predators but you speak your mind and are not afraid to participate in a confrontational/controversial topic. You are quick witted and sharp and have no problem getting to the point with few words. For this reason you remind me of a cheetah--fastest runner, fastest to the kill, doesn't dilly dally and play with its prey before eating it like some animals but you don't walk right into confrontations on purpose, unlike some of us, and yeah, i'm looking in the mirror now, hence the black leopard--experts say that if you run into a black leopard in the wild and it sees you it will attack you, plain and simple. I don't think I'm THAT bad but i fit the BL mold more while you fit the cheetah mold more.
and prairiemom, sorry, i don't know your name, i swore up and down i'd not compare anyone to a dog, i've learned my lesson here on PC about how simple things may offend people and i saw the whole idea of comparing anyone to a dog as just that "simple".... wink.gif
i see you as more of a dainty and feminine animal, like maybe a hummingbird...?

CantWait replied:
laugh.gif You're way to hard on yourself Tara.

mom2my2cuties replied: Isn't she though! smile.gif

Great thread Jennifer.

C&K*s Mommie replied:
ooooo thank you Jennifer! That is what I would choose if I could choose to be any animal, that or a giraffe. happy.gif happy.gif

To me, sea turtles represent gracefulness, serenity & tranquility, few enemies, and peace since they can seamlessly glide through the water.

I have zero of those qualities above, but that is what I think when I try to describe them.

What does being a sea turtle really mean??

cameragirl21 replied: Nic, the reason I think you're a sea turtle is b/c no matter what is said or no matter how heated the debate, you always find a graceful and diplomatic way to state your point but to express that you can see the other point and I've never seen you offend anyone. To me, a sea turtle is an animal that is not a predator, nor is it prey, it's a slow moving animal but it minds its own business, bothers no one and lives to be about 150 years, exploring the depths of the ocean to learn and see, it also to me is a symbol of open-mindedness and eternity. happy.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: Thank you Jennifer. hug.gif hug.gif On my days when I am feeling nuts.gif , and take it out on others I will remember that. wink.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: I skimmed the posts above, and saw only a little description of yourself as the BL, what does it mean for you to be a BL? Besides attacking the cheetah.

cameragirl21 replied: BLs don't attack cheetahs, I was just explaining to Brenda the difference between being a cheetah and a black leopard.
I just absolutely love BLs, they are small (about 60 pounds) but very powerful and I just love the way they scream. Btw, their scream is not one of distress, that's just the sound they make as opposed to a cat meowing and a lion roaring. They are stealthy, climb trees and other things with ease and curious. I'm a bit of a klutz but I'm eager to get to new heights and extremely curious. I don't know that I'm very much like a BL, i just love them, that's all.
For everyone else, i chose their animals b/c something about them reminds me of these animals and if anyone wants an explanation, feel free to ask. wink.gif

Hillbilly Housewife replied: rolling_smile.gif

Atlantic Bottle Nosed Dolphin??

I have to ask. laugh.gif

Oh wait... cuz I AM SO SMART...I AM SO SMART... S-M-R-T...I mean... S-M-A-R-T!

(simpsons reference in case you didn't know... lol)

cameragirl21 replied: the dolphin thing was a pretty easy choice, Rocky--they are always smiling, they are playful, graceful and smart and friendly BUT very powerful--they've been known for rescuing people from shark attacks.

Kaitlin'smom replied: hummm very interesting and I see some are changing there advitars to match

My2Beauties replied:
OMG Cary I love your avatar! You are hilarious girl - BTW Lemurs are sooooo cute wub.gif so she did pick you out a really cute animal!

My2Beauties replied: OK so now I have to ask...a seal??

coasterqueen replied: laugh.gif This is a fun post. Thanks Jennifer!

BTW, have to ask why a sable colored Angora rabbit w/lop ears? biggrin.gif

cameragirl21 replied: i think it's your blond hair, Leann, that and your seemingly gentle nature, i notice you always try to defuse things and always try to say something nice to everyone, no matter what your thouhts on the topic are.
btw, i LOVE baby fur seals, wish we had them here in South Florida, lol, maybe someday when we get a blizzard or something. wink.gif
hope you like your animal, it is a very cute animal and very sweet and cuddly.
ETA--i meant your blond hair reminds me of a white fur seal in color, i wasn't trying to make a blonde joke or anything like that.

mckayleesmom replied:
Lemur's are cute. laugh.gif

cameragirl21 replied: Karen, from what i've observed of your nature here on this board, you would very definitely be a fuzzy, cuddly, cute animal that would be content to be held for hours.
that made me think of bunny and i think your hair led to the choice in sable coloring...from what little i've seen of you the sable color of a bunny would match your actual hair color. and i added the lop ears b/c that is my fave kind of bunny. wub.gif

My2Beauties replied:
No I adore seals, I've actually never seen a white one, oh I take that back yes I have one time, they had one at our zoo "visiting!" I love their nature. I like the animal I was just wondering about your thought process! Thanks. biggrin.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: so what would I be? since I did not make the first cut?

cameragirl21 replied: the ones that are hunted for their fur are white sad.gif mad.gif
here's a pic http://dinets.travel.ru/harpsealcub.jpg

coasterqueen replied:
laugh.gif I have to laugh because my DH would say the same thing about me (the cuddly, fuzzy, etc) but he would add "and she could attack you at a moments notice when you least expect it". rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif ETA: attack meaning I can be mean and feisty and go off on a tangent for no reason.

BTW, my natural hair color is almost black, a very dark brown. happy.gif

Again, this is fun. Thank you for lightening my mood today. I hope whatever you are going through goes away soon and brings some sunshine to your mood. hug.gif tongue.gif

holley79 replied: I love Ed's. Don't beat me Ed, always think of you as the Wise Ole (not really old) Owl. emlaugh.gif

cameragirl21 replied: it's not that you didn't make first cut, Di, it's just that you got kind of upset with me when i asked you about Kaitlin's Halloween costume so I was uneasy about giving an animal to anyone who might get mad at me or be offended or misconstrue my fun thread to mean that I'm comparing people to animals in some bad way or something.
hmmm, what would you be, i don't know if i know you very well to know what kind of animal you'd be some kind of cat for sure, even though i suspect you may not like cats, so i hope you are not offended by that.
the question is what kind of cat would you be....a calico! yes, that's it, a calico with a single kitten!

cameragirl21 replied: oh, sorry, Karen, from what i saw in pictures, your hair seemed a lighter color, like an in between shade of brown.
anyway, you definitely would not be a dark colored bunny, you'd be a sable colored bunny with curious eyes and who wiggles her nose a lot. i love when bunnies do that!
btw, Karen, bunnies are very cuddly and sweet and unlike cats they love to be held for hours but they can bite you when you least expect it, like if they don't want you to hold them anymore, whereas a cat will just wiggle out of your arms and saunter away.... wink.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: now I have to ask
what are my ties to this Greeneyes--Canadian lynx

PrairieMom replied:
I don't look at it likes its a bad thing. laugh.gif
Look at these guys!
http://www.chihuahua-pictures.com/chihuahua-calendars.html
They are tooooo cute, and they quiver when they get excited. laugh.gif

cameragirl21 replied: man, i really opened Pandora's box when i offered everyone the opportunity to ask, didn't i? laugh.gif
Lisa, you seem kind of unusual to me, catlike but in an exotic sort of way, like a lynx, plus, remember when you asked me to send you those pictures i took of exotic cats? well the pic of the baby lynx for some reason always makes me think of you.
so there you go. wink.gif

coasterqueen replied:
Oh no biggie on the hair. I've colored it for so long now that not too many people know my natural hair color. Not sure if DH even knows. happy.gif

I'm gonna have to tell Dh about being a sable colored lop eared bunny. He'll get a kick out of it. laugh.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied:
oh sorry I was not upset at all about the costume thing.

laugh.gif I have 3 cats and the youngest is a calico, I just hope I am not as annoying as she is laugh.gif so I deffinalty like cats (most the time) I know not all of them are annoing, we had one who died of caner who was very sweet.

cat for me??? hummm interesting describe for me.

BTW I love this thread very fun, interesting and I am learning alot

cameragirl21 replied: oh, don't get me wrong, Tara, i love dogs very much. i'm not a fan of chihuahuas but i love dogs nonetheless. but in principle, comparing a woman to a dog is not considered to be a compliment to many and i was torn in that i thought this thread would be fun but i was afraid that some people would think i'm trying to be offensive, obnoxious, you name it.
so i said i'd compare no one here to a dog...i was even uneasy about comparing browneyedboy to a wolf b/c even though i absolutely adore them, they are associated with aggression, eating babies, etc but those are all fables...i've seen them in the wild and i loved them and didn't get attacked. and wolves are beautiful and luckily browneyedboy liked the comparison too.

gr33n3y3z replied: Oh my you remembered wow your good and yes the lynx I loved
can you send me one LOL
Thank you for the info on this its pretty cool
hug.gif

holley79 replied:
Never mind I was going to ask something but better not. emlaugh.gif

mummy2girls replied: why am i a white dove?

cameragirl21 replied: for starters, Shelly, you have very blond hair. At first I thought of a seagull but given that you live so far north, it seemed silly. and you are definitely a peace keeper...you never seem to get into dissenting topics and at most, point someone in the right direction...like when i asked about precious angels, you just gave me a link to that forum, didn't get mad (whereas some people did) just calmly led me in the right direction. i've never seen you in an argument with anyone, just posting on peaceful, safe topics.
a dove is a symbol of peace. smile.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied:
Jennifer, I have never been one for fairy tale wolves. But to me, the wolf is an ideal family animal. And family is VERY important to me. I was not offended in any way.

kit_kats_mom replied: Jenn, I don't really know you from Adam but I do know that you pay close attention to what is said on message boards and you pick up nuances from convos that many people probably miss. I actually think a Lemur is practically perfect for me. wink.gif Thank you for a fun thread

PS. My DH especially liked my lemur impression this evening for the girls. We've all had fun with this one.

cameragirl21 replied: LOL, Cary, i'm really glad you got such a kick out of this! Tbh, yours is the one i was most nervous about, which is why i posted next to it how much i love lemurs, etc because technically a lemur is in the monkey family and i was afraid you'd think i was calling you a monkey or something, which i hope you know i wasn't.
yep, i do pick up A LOT from what is said on message boards, that is why i found it fun to compare everyone to an animal.
lol, Cary the dancing lemur!
and browneyedboy, Kelly, right? I feel the same way about wolves, the whole fairy tale ate your grandma and now i'm going to eat you, red riding hood is beyond ridiculous. wolves are among the coolest animals on the planet IMO!

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Yep, it's Kelly. Funny part is, my sister is Jennifer.

PrairieMom replied:
okay..... i guess I really set myself up for something.... rolling_smile.gif

kit_kats_mom replied: Now why on earth would anyone be offended if you called them a monkey? Monkeys are cute and funny. I love monkeys. wub.gif I'm flattered. blush.gif Ok, amd I'm also a bit strange. rolling_smile.gif

CantWait replied:
Monkeys are one of my favourite animals. Their so playful and cute, and much like humans really in many ways.

cameragirl21 replied: i love monkeys too, Cary, but i especially love lemurs, they are cute and i now know from your avatar picture that they can dance like ballerinas!

amynicole21 replied:
I think a monkey would be a good one for you, too. tongue.gif

cameragirl21 replied: ok, Marie, since i didn't assign you an animal and since you love monkeys then i'll make you either a capuchin OR that monkey whose name i can't recall but the kind that was Rafiki in Lion King with the funny, colorful face.
take your pick!

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Isn't Rafiki a babboon?

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Nope, never mind, he's a mandril

cameragirl21 replied: yes, a mandril, that's what they're called.
i love their faces, maybe Marie will like to be a mandril. happy.gif happy.gif

mom2my2cuties replied:
Why would anyone get offended by that??? Monkeys are extremely intellegent, loving, "family" type creatures. At least from what I have noticed. smile.gif

I can't believe how much you have picked up about us - WOW!!! Talk about detective skills.

My3LilMonkeys replied: Jennifer - you are very intuitive - I love the choices you've made for everyone!

I wouldn't mind an animal if you'd still like to play, but if not that's okay.

cameragirl21 replied: Pam, you are a bluejay--a beautiful blue bird that brightens up its environment with its brilliant colors and songs.
i think of you as a bird b/c you are always talking about things for your children so i think of you as a mama bird bringing home goodies to your nest for your baby birds.... wub.gif

cameragirl21 replied: Tish, i forgot to give you an animal, i'm sorry! I think you are a polar bear, b/c they are very playful and love to entertain people and make them laugh, and your posts tend to be fun and entertaining and you like to laugh and to make people laugh. plus you're always caring for your lil fuzzy cubs! wub.gif

mom2my2cuties replied: Good one - except that Polar Bears aren't always "cuddly and fuzzy" God help you if you mess with one of thier cubs...They are one of the meanest bears then.

cameragirl21 replied: that's true, Tish, but i'm sure you'd do the same if someone tried to mess with one of your cubs. wink.gif happy.gif

mom2my2cuties replied: I am. Usually moreso than I should be.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: What a fun thread. I've enjoyed reading it. thumb.gif

Dare I ask what animal I am? unsure.gif biggrin.gif

cameragirl21 replied: Aimee, you are a plushy white coyote who is best friends with a jack rabbit.
i say this b/c you are a bit predatory and a bit sly at times but you are not a true hunter in that you don't go for the kill, you just like to jab a bit but always make friends with everyone in the end. That's why you must be the type of coyote who is best friends with an animal who in reality would be your prey.
hope that makes sense. wink.gif

Maddie&EthansMom replied:
You're good. Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. wink.gif

kimberley replied: happy.gif cute thread. you are very perceptive Jennifer smile.gif

so why a cat with big yellow eyes, long whiskers and a fluffy tail?

cameragirl21 replied: not just a fluffy tail, Kimberley, all around plushy and soft. but it's funny you should mention the fluffy tail b/c that was what i was going to say originally but i was afraid someone may misconstrue that to mean that i was implying have a big butt or something.
from the small handful of pics i've seen of you, you have long, straight, dark hair...you remind me of Demi Moore and i've always seen her as a black cat. You look like you may be Native American or perhaps part Asian or something.
Anyway, it is very clear to me that you have some mystery brewing beneath the surface, beneath the skin that only those closest to you are privy to, hence the black cat--an animal of mystery. with big yellow eyes b/c they sort of glow in the dark, adding to the intrigue and i get the feeling your eyes would be the kind that seem so big they take in everything and everyone, sort of sizing them up to see if they interest you enough to get up from your cat nap to rub up against them.
and the plushy, soft fur b/c you seem like a bit of a cuddle bug, at least to those closest to you.
am i right? wink.gif happy.gif

cameragirl21 replied: Cary, if it makes you feel any better, i got nothing done today either. wink.gif
i have to write a press release for my ALS calendar and have a bunch of clients waiting for pictures and i've spent all day assigning people to animals and then explaining why they got these assignments.
wow, there's a sentence i thought i'd never say, lol. rolling_smile.gif
But i'm really glad everyone enjoyed this, we need to do things like this more often!
Oh, and Nadia, I was just going through the thread and didn't realize I'd left you out, i'm really sorry. You are some sort of exotic Amazonian bird, like a parrot with blue and yellow feathers that lives in Manaos and drops bird poop on annoying tourists who are afraid to walk in the mud lest they dirty their new Jimmy Choos.

CantWait replied:
Yup that's me, a funny looking monkey tongue.gif

Nina J replied: What animal would I be? (please don't say a snail) tongue.gif

cameragirl21 replied: idk, Nina, you are a tough one...i don't know you very well but i've noticed that you do have strong opinions (just like me) but are much softer and more careful in the way you express them. You tend to want to speak your mind but are very uneasy about the possibility of offending people and really want to please everyone.
that makes you a pseudo predator but the desire to please puts you more into the dog family than the cat b/c dogs aim to please but cats don't care. And btw, that is not to say that those who i assigned to be cats don't care, i'm just using the comparison for Nina's animal assignment.
You are a small, cuddly, playful red fox. Still a predator but still cute, cuddly and fun loving.

kimberley replied:
LOL yes you got me. and i do have a big butt! rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif

i am half filipino and half irish. wink.gif

Nina J replied: I am sooo foxy partydance.gif

Thanks happy.gif

Nina J replied: user posted image

^^^ DH and I smileykiss2.gif emlaugh.gif

I think they're actually trying to bite each other or something, but it kind of looks like they are going to have a big kiss emlaugh.gif

cameragirl21 replied: too cute, Nina, you should put one in your avatar. it's the new style you know, and like, everyone's doing it, like ya know?
btw, i know what your dream was about, if you want to pm me i'll tell you all about it.

Boys r us replied: Jennifer, I am VERY impressed! you have hit the nail on the head with so many people here!! Crazy!!!
I regret not posting more lately so that you could give me my animal representation!

cameragirl21 replied: show me your picture, Nichole, I can work with that. but it must be a good picture where i can clearly see your face.
but only if you want an animal assignment, i'm not going to insist on you showing your pic if you don't want to.

Maddie&EthansMom replied: DH says that was not an accurate statement about me. laugh.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied: All right I'm curious Jenn. What animal am I?

cameragirl21 replied: That's a tough call, Carrie-Ann, i don't really know you very well...do you have a recent pic of yourself you could post?

MomToJade&Jordan replied: This was taken a few months ago.

cameragirl21 replied: you are eager, perhaps more forgiving than you should be but a bit stubborn. you are an orca. and i love orcas. wub.gif

MomToJade&Jordan replied: My daughter will love that I'm Shamu. She loves Shamu and yes, that was pretty dead on.

Boys r us replied: Here's a pic, it's a couple years old..but it's one of the only recent ones that shows a good close up & clear shot of my face:

cameragirl21 replied: Nichole, you are definitely a cat--a serval.

Hillbilly Housewife replied:
Wow! hug.gif

kimberley replied:
ohmy.gif wow, Nichole, i thought she'd be waiting til pigs fly for you to post a pic of you laugh.gif i love that pic btw. wink.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: jennifer I think you mgiht have missed mine, I was wondering why you picked calico for me.

cameragirl21 replied: you mean i missed it like you don't think i'm right about you being a calico?

Kaitlin'smom replied:
what the reason behind it is....sorry I guess that was not clear

cameragirl21 replied: oh, i see, Di, sorry i misunderstood.
well, you're definitely catlike IMO--you warm up to certain things (in this case discussions and topics on the board, obviously idk you in real life) and speak out when you disagree with others. Dogs are more inclined to just warm up to everything just to be loved but cats make their feelings more vocal.
And while you occasionally talk about topics that don't involve your daughter (i spend nearly all my PC time in the general discussions section so i'm just basing everything on that) for the most part you bring Kaitlin into nearly everything, so that makes you seem Mama Cat-like, and Calicos are ALWAYS female, it's a genetic marker so they typically become Mama cats.
And I added the single kitten for obvious reasons.
Plus you seem multi-faceted...your thoughts and opinions on things are not entirely predictable hence the multiple colors on a Calico cat.

Kaitlin'smom replied: thanks Jennifer...that does seem to fit me.

mummy2girls replied:
wub.gif Thats one thing my friends tell me is im a peace keeper. because with my family i am always thrown in the middle and told dont tell so in so this blah blah blah! And i like to just talk to everyone and try to get them to talk to each other:) Maby thats why im always stuck in the middle. LOL

Crystalina replied: An Ocelot? unsure.gif huh? What is that? It doesn't sound very pretty. rolling_smile.gif

cameragirl21 replied: Crystal, this is an ocelot http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/imag...fr=sfp&p=ocelot and it IS very pretty IMO.

Crystalina replied: O, i've seen those before. I think in an old episode of COPS there was an old lady that had one as a "house cat" because she didn't realize what it was. lol

Why an ocelot if you don't mind me asking.

cameragirl21 replied: she HAD to realize what it was, Crystal, they're very expensive to buy (about $5000-$10,000 depending on the breeder and availability) and you need a special permit and 1000 hours of training to own one...legally that it is. Even if you have it illegally they are still very expensive and they don't just walk around in the wild, not around the US anyway.
Well, an ocelot is also a predator, just like any exotic cat but they are not so in your face about it like a puma...they are a bit dainty. You always speak your mind but you are careful not to offend and when you freaked out about meat rotting inside you...c'mon that's a bit dainty for a predator (meat eater who said she had a cow inside her freezer and has seen hog slaughter) like yourself, no? wink.gif
i love ocelots btw, i'd like to get one but i think i will get a lynx instead, i just have to start my 1000 hours, oy, that's a lot of hours.... tongue.gif

MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Jennifer, while I wish you luck with your lynx, I have to say that I believe that exotic animals should not be kept as pets by anyone. It may be legal in some states, but IMO it is kind of foolish. These are still wild animals, regardless of how or who raised them. I have a friend who owned a wolf hybrid. Beautiful animal and mostly very sweet, but NOT good with other dogs. Even with the pack instincts, he was a messed up puppy. Pun intended. Good luck and happy responsible ownership.

cameragirl21 replied: i agree, Kelly, and when i say i want to get a lynx it's kind of like saying i want to marry Paul Walker, it sounds good and all and i'd do it if i had the chance but it's unlikely--when will i have time for 1000 hours of training and when will i have time to attend to a lynx? the lady that provides me with exotics (in my pics) has one, you can see its pic in my slideshow and i totally fell in love with it but it's a rambunctious little booger and i can't even imagine owning it on my own, that woman is an expert and she finds the lynx to be a challenge!
in principle i am totally against the owning of exotics but when i see them to take pics, it is sooooo tempting...i kept telling that woman i was going to take the baby tiger home, but of course i was just kidding. happy.gif

Crystalina replied: Yes, I'm a meat eater. A very mild one though. I can't stand a hunk of meat on my plate. I mix it with things, like cheese, mayo, lettuce and mators. smile.gif The same with the chicken. I prefer the skin but don't dip much into the meat. I guess I'm a predator in a way but I do have to mention that I have never ever killed an animal by my own hands. DH does that. I was a city girl up until 5 yrs ago. Yes, that recent. laugh.gif When Boo (Izabella) was born we bought the farm and DH's true country boy self was able to take over. ohmy.gif I was very shocked when I realized how much he knew of the country life even though at that point we had already been married 10 yrs. We both worked many many hours before having kids (which is probably why it took us 10 yrs for them to show up rolling_smile.gif ) but I could not have been more city if I tried. I wouldn't even check the mail without having my hair done. Now the only ones who see me are the horses and they could care less as long as they are fed. I just wanted to get that out. I am very new to the whole farm thing and only know what I do because I watch DH. I also still cringe when I see an animal slaughtered and really, even if you were born and raised doing it, who wouldn't cringe. It's a life lost. What I don't like is walking on my property and stumble across a headless dear carcass. growl.gif If you're going to kill it (poach it actually since this is my property!) then do it for food and not a trophy. growl.gif growl.gif

So sorry. I've went off topic and started rambling. Thanks for makine me an ocelot.

Oh, and the old lady on COPS was very old and almost blind and she said her stray kitty showed up after she started feeding it so she just kept it. The neighbors are the ones who called the cops because they said the cat didn't look normal and actuall stalked people. That is when the cop went in the house and saw the ocelot sleeping on the couch. He said if it wasn't an ocelot then it was a regular cat mixed with one. The poor old lady just didn't want to lose her cat. ohmy.gif

DillsMommy replied: What animal would I be? I know I haven't gotten to talk with you much, but this seems fun and interesting. I never really thought about what animal I would be.

cameragirl21 replied: Mandy, i've hardly seen any of your posts so idk, do you have a current pic of yourself you could post? the one in your avatar is too small for me to work with.
