lisar replied: Thanks yall. Sorry to worry everyone for so long.
Come to find out her problem is that, her bowels are full and it is causing acid reflux. She has been going poop though so I never thought about that being the problem. They did x-rays, urine work, blood work. The whole 9 yards. They had the surgen come in and check her appendix. So now she is on Zantac 75 and Miralax for atleast a week. She has been on the Miralax since Friday and I havent seen a change in her yet. The zantac is helping her alot though. She doesnt hurt after she eats or anything. But if I could just get her bowels to empty it could possibly all go away. We cant give her a real laxative that works instantly cause of her history with dehydration. (almost everytime she gets sick she ends up with an IV)
Thanks everyone for your thoughts.
boyohboyohboy replied: lisa, glad to hear it is something that seems to have an easy fix. I would say if the miralax doesnt start working soon, she might need a little bit more. Poor girl, to have gone thru all those tests. and poor you on mothers day!
MommyToAshley replied: Poor Kiddo But, I am soooo glad it wasn't something more serious that required surgery. I thought it might have been her appendix, and I am relieved to find out that's not the case.
The miralax should help a lot. Also, if she will drink prune juice or eat foods with lots of fiber, that should help too. We've had our issues with constipation with Ashley, it's no fun. I hope she feels better soon.
lisar replied: Yea she is on a strict diet right now. Nothing that could constipate her more, and high fiber. And nothing that could cause the acid reflux to act up until she emptys her bowels.
I was also extremely worried that could have been her appendix, when she called me in tears cause her stomach hurt so much thats when I was like we are going to the er cause I was worried it might have been that.
Thanks.
julesmom replied: You can buy dried prunes too. They sell them in the grocery store in a yellow container. I keep them in the fridge and give them to my 9yr old when he gets constipated. Just 2 a day works for him. Then I have to keep him on a regular schedule of going to the bathroom for #2.
A&A'smommy replied: Goodness bless her heart!! I'm glad she is okay and I hope she empties those bowels SOON!!
msoulz replied: Ditto!!
na81 replied: Hope she feels better soon!

Sam & Abby's Mom replied: Wow -- poor thing! Hope she's feeling better soon. What a miserable feeling
gr33n3y3z replied: I hope the meds work for her and I will keep her in my prayers
lisar replied: Thanks everyone. And the Miralax has started to work. Thats all I need to say. LOL
jcc64 replied: Lisa, I'm sorry your dd has been having these issues, but thankfully, they can be controlled once you figure out what works best for her. We have a lifetime prescription for Miralax- Corey's had issues like this for years. They do tend to be chronic, though if you're careful with her diet, it's something you can control pretty easily. About the Miralax, you may need to mess with the dosage. Corey's only 37lbs, and we give her 3/4 of a cap, which seems like a lot, but that's what she needs to get things moving. My ped recommended keeping her on it well after she had started going, just to keep things moving and to get her body used to doing its job again, kwim? At her worst, we had her on it for several weeks at a time, then started to cut back- every other day, then every third, etc...There are no side effects, when in doubt, give it to her. About the diet, nothing is as important as drinking- you may think she's getting enough, but chances are, she's not. And it needs to be water (8oz every hour), not soda or sugary stuff. Speaking of sugar, processed foods with lots of white sugar and flour are also the enemy. Keep those to a minimum. Try to make as many things as possible whole grain. Freihoffers makes a double fiber sliced bread (6 grams a slice, which is alot), Thomas' English Muffins has the same kind of thing. Eat brown rice, not white, whole grain pasta, not white, etc..And avoid cheese like the plague. Ditto for bananas. Pm me if you want. I know more about this than I wish I had...
btw, prunes never worked for us, and what kid likes prunes???
