valentines day?
boyohboyohboy wrote: ok, so valentines day is coming soon....feels like soon to me...
what are your plans? and do you always make the plans or does your husband?
do your husbands enjoy valentines day, or are they like mine who feels halmark just made it up?
mommy~to~a~bunch replied: We don't do much for Valentine's Day. Mainly crafts & baking with the kids, but I can usually plan on getting at least a dozen red roses! I'd prefer a sappy lovey-dovey card, or chocolates .
grandma replied: Our anniversary is the day before Valentine's Day. We will do something special, not sure what yet.
lisar replied: I dont know what we are doing that day.
Oh well I just looked and dh has to work both jobs that day so I wont even see him.
Oh well we will make up for on the weekend.
sparkys2boys replied: We normally dont do a whole lot. Small gifts for the kids and cards for one another. I'd love to make special plans this year though for DH and I. With it being such a hard year for us last year I think it would be nice but I dont want to spend a fortune and am not sure what else I could do. DH used to make a fuss over Valentines day when we were younger..lol.. sounds like 31 is ancient doesn't it!!
CantWait replied: No money this year, so I'll probably take my credit card to Zellers and get everyone a small box of chocolate.
luvbug00 replied: I'm alright with valentines day . Lars thinks it's stuiped and so we won't do a thing probaly.
luvmykids replied: We don't do much, usually some kind of Vday themed thing for the kids but thats about it. Although this year the father/daughter dance at school is right around that time, I'm hoping DH will be here for it so he can take Kylie
stella6979 replied: I'm with your Husband.
Calimama replied: Well this year I just mailed DH a 25 lb box for Valentines day. It had stuff for his shop too though. DH usually makes a big deal out of it for me so I wanted to do something big for him. I wish I could see his face when he sees how big that box is...
My2Beauties replied: My DH is a sucker for V-day, he always gets into it big time. I usually get flowers deliverd to my work and he makes a huge deal out of it when I get home, he usually sets stuff up all pretty and always gets me something nice, takes me out to dinner, and we usually send the kid's to grandma's for the night
3xsthefun replied: We usually don't do much for Valentines day. We just get the kids some candy or a stuff animal. And we get each other a card or a small gift.
A&A'smommy replied: we probably wont do anything and I DON'T want any candy in the house i'm SOOO sick of candy!!!!!
msoulz replied: We don't "celebrate" Valentine's day between ourselves but I do try to do something for the kids.
We are with Pete on most of these "holidays" - clever marketing by the greetings card and chocolate industries! But Valentine's day has some history and is really the original love holiday . . . but we still don't care. Every day is a love holiday at my house!!
(OH yeah, I almost typed that without choking . . . )
Maddie&EthansMom replied: We normally do a nice dinner at home on V-Day. We always include the kids. We don't do expensive gifts...we agree that it is too commercialized. We buy each other cards and each of us gets cards for the kids. Scotty buys Maddie and me roses.
LeaAnn, that's so sweet that Brian makes a big deal out of it!!
Brias3 replied: He used to be really romantic about it, now its kind of one of those "Hallmark holidays" like you said. We'll usually try and do dinner out together or have a date either the weekend before or after but sometimes that doesn't always work out. He's actually been out of town the last two Valentine's Days
We don't do gifts typically. I have gotten jewelry from him before though Usually he'll give or send flowers and we exchange cards.
Our Lil' Family replied: We normally go out to eat but usually before the actual day. Just the other day I mentioned that I'd like to go to a restaurant that puts on a mystery dinner (thanks to Rae's thread) and we looked at the calendar, the next one is Feb. 9 & 10 so DH said, there you go, there's our Valentine's Day....so that's what we're doing. Hopefully it'll be fun!
As for gifts, we don't usually exchange them, maybe a card and a box of candy or I do homemade cookies with Thomas.
My3LilMonkeys replied: We don't do anything for valentine's day really - neither of us are into it. And I would kill DH if he spent that price for roses - the markup is crazy!!!
We'll probably get the girls each some candy or something little, but that's it.
My2Beauties replied: Yeah it's sweet, but this year money is tight and I doubt it'll be a really big deal this year. We'll probably go out to dinner and maybe a movie or something.
Crystalina replied: DH trys to do little things but I just don't get into it. He only does it because he thinks I want him to (the cards and dinner thing). I don't like receiving flowers and my butt needs no chocolate so...
I like that he still tries to do something romantic but it really isn't needed. I'm not into the candles and soft music thing. I would prefer to just go to Blockbusters and chill on the couch with him and the kids.
