update from the Thrush queen. - It aint good.

So, I get to tighten down the diet a little. (what more IS There? ) I had been enjoying crackers made form nuts and other things like that, but the diet stated that I should only eat whole , natural organic foods in their natural state. So, I am going to try to do that more. I have also been eating yogurt and sneaking some cheese here and there, so no more of that, and I have been sneaking coffee about every 3rd day, so no more of that either. My doc wants me to try the same antifungal med again, so I get to start that tomorrow, assuming the pharmacy will fill it for me.
On the up side, this diet is GREAT for weight loss, and I would recommend it to anyone who can stand it. my goal weight at the beginning of the year was 135, and this morning I was 131. I weigh less now than I did when I got PG the first time! I have lost about 12 pounds in the 2 months I have been eating like this.
grapfruit replied: Oh Tara, that's crappy It has to be SO frustrating!!
So why won't the pharamacy fill your RX?
And, what CAN you eat??? Air?
cameragirl21 replied: Tara, would you please share the diet with me? i will still eat fruit because i can't give it up but i don't think fruit is a problem for weight loss, i think the key is food in its natural state. i don't eat meat but i do eat some fish...is that allowed? would you please list what you can eat? thanks. ETA--Tara, i'm so sorry about your recurring thrush, i'm sorry i neglected to mention that in the first place. did you try the lactobacilli stuff that the guy here recommended? wow, that must be so frustrating.
stella6979 replied: What a bummer. I can't even imagine what it must be like not being able to eat anything, well, the things you want anyway. I hope it clears up soon for ya. Congrats on the weight loss though.
moped replied: I am sorry it came back - keep us posted and share the diet!
mysweetpeasWil&Wes replied: Is this the raw foods diet? When you said in it's most natural state, I figured this is what you meant. A friend did this and she lost a TON of weight. She was also a strict vegan as well, so she really only ate raw veggies and maybe some brown rice, but it had to be organic rice. Maybe sprouted breads too. GL!
I thought yogurt is good for thrush since it has accidolphillos (sp?) in it? Maybe I'm confusing it with YIs?
Kirstenmumof3 replied: I'm sorry you are dealing with this! I hope the medication works and you start to feel better soon!
Calimama replied: I'm sorry hun.
PrairieMom replied: yogurt IS supposed to be good for the thrush, but it is a milk product and there is a lot of sugar in milk.
PrairieMom replied: Last time it took a week to get it filled because they said that I need pre-approval from my dr's office before they could fill it. How stupid is THAT? it was the very first time I had been ordered on it, and the Dr's office is the place that ordered it in the first place. Insurance wouldn't let the pharmacy fill it until my Dr had talked to them. It took 5 whole days of me calling both the dr's office and the insurance company daily to get the dumb think filled. I was beyond livid.
PrairieMom replied: basically nothing. If I go out to eat I can have sides of steamed vegis, or salad with no cheese, mushrooms, crutons or dressing.
At home I have stir fry usually twice a day, with mixed vegis and usually shrimp.
cameragirl21 replied: will you share a stir fry recipe? thanks
mom21kid2dogs replied: Oh Tara, no wonder you are frustrated. This is crazy. Is there someone else you can see about this? It seems as though if you that strict with it for THAT LONG, the problem might be something else and the thrush is a symptom, not the problem. Just thinking out loud, but I think I might get another opinion or two before I go through this h** again.
grapfruit replied: Ugh! Why do they have to be so dumb!?! My cousin has trouble getting her RX for Hep C treatment filled too. You would think, ok, the DOCTOR prescribed this, so we probably don't need approval for that same doctor. I guess they think maybe he wrote you a RX by accident??
coasterqueen replied: I'm sorry you are going through this Tara.
Is this something you've had all your life? Or something since you've had kids? I just wonder since you are just now trying the diet if medication worked in the past or not.
PrairieMom replied: I know. Right now we are trying to find out if this is just a really strong strain that will take a few courses of meds to kill. If the meds don't work, ( i guess I can take them 3 times, and this will be my second) then I am going to see an allergist. We don't have any holistic docs here, so the best I can do is a chiropractor that also does allergy testing. I want someone who will test me for unconventional things not just the normal stuff.
PrairieMom replied: i start with either oil infused with garilc, or sesame seed oil, then dump what ever mixed bag of vegis in. Usually baby corn, broccoli, carrots, peas, and peppers. I like to add white onion and minced garlic and bean sprouts. I add shrimp a lot too. basically I have 5 or 6 different bags of frozen mixed veggis. I just dunm in what ever is handy.
CantWait replied: Oh Gosh Tara I'm so sorry. Kudos on the weight loss, but it sucks that it's coming at such a high price.
PrairieMom replied: I think it started when I was about 15. I would YI really easy, but I would just "ride them out" I wouldn't do any treatment. I started difflucan when it switched to oral thrush, but it has been recurrent since then. Wow. I guess I have been dealing with this for 15 years!
amynicole21 replied: Great news on the weight loss!!! I'm so sorry about the thrush though. I finally just got rid of it, and I stopped nursing 3 months ago That stuff is a nightmare. I hope you can finally get rid of it.
cameragirl21 replied: thanks, i want to try that. can you tell i'm not much of a cook? btw, you've inspired me, Tara, i am going to try the Jenniferized version of this diet...i'll still eat fruit and some cheese but no white sugar or white flour. i'll think of you when i eat and know that you are a strong woman and maybe i can be too.
PrairieMom replied: good luck. Its really really hard. Things would be easier if I would have fruit. Have a strawberry for me.
jem0622 replied: I would do a little research on acidophilus and other organisms. You want a VERY high dose (parts per million is the key) and you can usually get this at co-ops or whole foods places. If it comes refrigerated, then that is even better. Something else that could help you is Probiotics.
A&A'smommy replied: I'm sorry honey!!! I hope the meds work for you!! for the weight loss i'm soo jealous!!
PrairieMom replied: They don't seem to be helping me. I have been on at least 3 different kinds. I am taking the recommended dose, plus I was eating yogurt, and still it wasn't doing anything for me. I wish the answer would be that easy for me. It is so frustrating.
jem0622 replied:
How much were you taking? I am curious. I had systemic thrush, so I know your pain! Have you tried Grapefruit (NOT GRAPE) Seed Extract Pills or putting the liquid in a beverage? Have you asked your doctor to give you a prescription for 2 months worth of Diflucan?
