MomofTay&Sam wrote: My sweet Sam is turning into my loss of sleep Mommy! Is this just a stage?? He is waking every 3 hours in the least to eat, he will almost 6 oz and go back to sleep! I tried taking away his naps today but FORGET that he just climbs up on me and crashes. We were out all day and evening and he just woke up again for another 6 oz. Last night is was horrible, I would just get into a deep sleep and he would wake for milk. We went out to dinner tonight and he loved it, he had chicken, carrots and mac n cheese(everything he has had before) but in baby food. Maybe he needs more table food?? But he still woke up tonight?? I am so confused! He is almost 9 months and has never did this, anyone going thru this to?????

catou_98 replied: Ugh! sorry don't have any advice for you, I just wanted to offer a hug so there... grouphug.gif grouphug.gif grouphug.gif and send sammy some ********please be a good boy and sleep thru the night for mommy*******vibes! wink.gif

mummy2girls replied: I now what you are going through. Jenna did this for so long ...she is just finally sleeping through the night. Have you tried giving him solids right before you give him his bedtime milk? Jenna seemed to sleep better if she had a tummy full of solids and milk. Try giving table foods...maby he is ready for it and needs more filling food. I have also let her CIO when it came to a point where she drank a bottle and then 2 or 3 hours later woke up for more. at 9 months they shouldnt need milk at night expecially if it is every 3 hours. I let her CIO out and after about 5 minutes of crying she gave in and fell back to sleep. I heard that if you keep giving them milk everytime they wake up at night they get used to that and then thats all they will know to have to sooth themselves back to sleep. Good-luck and i hope tonight will be better.

jenna was doing good the last few days in her crib but last night she kept waking up every 4 hours. I decided to let her CIO out and she did go back to sleep.

MomToJade&Jordan replied: Jade was doing this as well for the longest time. I finally had to stop feeding her at night because she was expecting it everytime she woke up. Now that she is weaned and doesn't get fed at night she is sleeping better.

MomofTay&Sam replied: Sammy has slept all night since very early on. My best guess here is that he is going thru a growing spurt. He is not the type of baby who will eat when he is not hungry. I have to call the doc tomm and ask her about it. I will never use the CIO method, I just am not a fan of that. I want him to know I am there and he can depend on me, rather than let him scream for hours and believe me he would scream for hours. Thanks for the reply's and hopefully he will get some rest tonight. smile.gif

MommyToAshley replied: Could be a growing spurt.

Another note, since he is almost 9 months old, I thought I would mention to you that my Ped brought this up at Ashley's 9 month check up. She said that babies do this between 9 and 12 months of age and then again at 18 months. The best thing to do is to put them back in bed. Ashley went through this and I put her back to bed and stood there and sang to her until she fell asleep. At least she knew Mommy was there, but she also knew that it was bedtime.

MomofTay&Sam replied: M2M Ashley we co-sleep and I try to comfort him back to sleep, it has always worked. Rub his tummy or just placing my hand on his body and he will go back to sleep. This is a defiant hunger type of thing. Thanks for the reply though. smile.gif

Mommieto2Girls replied: Awwe, poor mommy. I hope you get some sleep tonight.

DansMom replied: wacko.gif Daniel's doing the same thing---up every three hours, and instead of just resettling when I rub his back he indicates that he's HUNGRY. Also, he is hungrier during the day---nursing twice as long at each sitting and more often than he's ever done. He's making some other types of leaps---crawling and cruising, waving bye-bye, all within the last two weeks, so I'm also thinking growth spurt. He is 8 months plus, so in the same ballpark as Sammy.

We also cosleep and I can't/won't do the CIO method either, so I guess we just do what we can to get through this until the growth spurt is done? It's comforting to know that someone else is going through this! Fortunately I have the option of sleeping at work snooze.gif (just kidding).

ediep replied: Jason does this every so often. I would just feed him if he is hungry and after a week or so he usually goes back to sleeping through

Good luck

Kaitlin'smom replied: your not alone Kaitlin staring doing this when she started really crawling. She is sooo much hungrier now than she has ever been so I am guess ing she is hitting a growth spurt, along with everthing she is learning. blink.gif I need sleep, I am sooo tired, and now I think my DH gave me his stupid cold. I have an earach, which is something I have NEVER had before in my life, and the doc told him he was not contagious mad.gif Honstly I dont think he asked him.

MommyToAshley replied:
I am sorry you are feeling bad. I hope you feel better soon!

To all of the mommies with babies going through growth spurts, all I can say is BTDT and it eventually passes. Just think, you're little one is Growing and it is all worth it!

~~~~ Sending your babies some sleeping vibes! ~~~~~
MomofTay&Sam replied: See I never ever even tied it into crawling! LOL Not only is he crawling but almost walking and climbed 12 stairs today with me behind him. The doc said it's very normal and this too shall pass. He only woke one time last night. I think the summer hours are screwing him up also, big brother is not getting up so we sleep in. The doc agree that taking away his naps are not a option, as I do not force him to sleep and he doesnt cry at nap time. I am so glad I am not the only one going thru this. Hopefully it will be over soon and all us sleep deprived mommies can move onto the next issue. rolling_smile.gif Sending sleep vibes to everyone and babies.
