Here are my trick or treaters last night, Lexi and Andrew we did 2 streets and they were done!

moped replied: Dana, did you go out TOT'ng last night??

danahas4monkeys replied: Yep it was last night here! Crazy huh! But I am glad for once cause had they done it on the actual day of Halloween I wouldnt have got to go cause thats the day of my surgery, my big kids were too cool to go they followed along cause they had to but didnt trick or treat!

My2Beauties replied:
In the US some cities do not allow TOT'ing when it falls on a weekday on the actual night of Halloween, so the city has TOT'ing set up for the weekend prior...I think it stinks personally sad.gif I'm glad my city doesn't do this.

DVFlyer replied: We didn't trick or treat yet, but this is Keian's costume:

moped replied:
Can I ask what the reasoning for that is???

lovemy2 replied:
Yeah I'd be interested in knowing that too - I have never heard of this???

boyohboyohboy replied:
for us its because they say its not safe for the kids, there are more people out drinking and driving on a weekend, and that the kids are safer on a week night, thats the reason here.

moped replied:
Halloween is on Wednesday this year....

mom21kid2dogs replied:
In our city, they always have Trick or Treat on the Sunday afternoon preceeding Halloween. The reasoning for it is that when Halloween falls on a weeknight kids are forced to Trick or Treat after dark and here they don't consider it safe. As a product of a generation who ALWAYS Trick or Treated in the dark, it makes me sad that my daughter won't have those memories. As a mom who lives on a street where we close the door after Trick or Treater 500 (not a typo), I'm glad she's going in the daylight. People drive like total idiots up on our street normally. The extra traffic that the event brings just makes it all the more unsafe. I guess I'd rather have her have daylight Trick ot Treat memories than risk losing her to someone who didn't see her in the dark.

bawoodsmall replied:
We are so coming to your house to go trick or treating. Noone goes door to door here anymore so we are forced to go to an auditorium where people just sit there and hand out candy. I hate it and have never taken emily to it but this year i dont think aiden can handle the door to door. The whole fun is the door to door. I loved that as a child.

danahas4monkeys replied: Cheryl maybe we'll pass you sunday lol wink.gif are you guys doing the parade too? If you are going where I think you are going ! rolling_smile.gif

My3LilMonkeys replied: We didn't go trick or treating yet, but here's my dinosaur and Tinkerbell:

thumb.gif Oh yeah, we'll be there. tongue.gif We always do it!!! My sister and her boys usually come down but she's 2 weeks away from her due date so she's not coming. We're supposed to go as the Wizard of Oz group so if you think you see us, introduce yourselves!!!!

I think my MIL is handing out candy at our house so both Stephen & I can take O out. We're in the block past the HS on the same side as the HS~come see us!! thumb.gif

danahas4monkeys replied: Well we'll be the group with buzz light year a bunny, and a jason mask not sure what all the other kids are going to be (you dont happen to know the chaffin or woodson families do you, that would be too wierd lol)

kimberley replied: blink.gif your city tells u when and where you can trick or treat?? that is insane imo.
we have always gone trick or treating door to door on whatever day hallowe'en falls on. start at dusk, home at dark. if a house has their lights out, don't knock... that's the only rule.

kit_kats_mom replied: we don't go trick or treating until wednesday but we had a halloween party last night and the kids dressed up.

Here is Lauren

kit_kats_mom replied: and Katherine as Underdog. She loves this costume!

ZandersMama replied: WOW, we go on Halloween here, unless it falls on Sunday in which case they move it to saturday. LOL here we are not allowed to trick or treat on sunday. kids start here around 4, (the younger kids) and go until 8 or so.

mom21kid2dogs replied:
I agee the Trick or Treat policy might seem strange to some but we are an extremely rural county. There are kids in our county who don't get home off the bus from elementary school before dusk. I guess they'd just be SOL if the policy was to Trick or Treat from dusk til dark on October 31.

Dana~don't know anyone by those names here but I'll be looking for those Buzz Lightyear wings for sure!!! thumb.gif

Kentuckychick replied: Here in Lexington we almost always Trick-or-Treat on the night of Halloween. The only times we haven't have been on Sundays and we haven't before on Wednesdays but I guess this year the Wed. night church goers didn't get their way (they are usually the ones who have TOT called off on Wednesdays and Sundays).

I personally don't think it's such a bad idea to have it on the weekends. I know I'm not looking forward to having the preschoolers the day after they've been out trick or treating. Oh yeah, I simply can't wait for those sugar buzz crashes... wacko.gif

We'll be taking Connor and Caydee Trick or Treating this year, I can't wait!

kimberley replied: i understand why some communities might organize a halloween party on the weekend or in the day, i guess i just have a problem with being told they cannot go on the actual night if they choose to.

Jamison'smama replied: We're in Ohio too and our trick or treating is scheduled from 6-8. That's it, everyone shuts their doors and turns off the lights. BUT, we get hundreds as well and I am glad it is limited. They also move the dates around and some suburbs or outlying towns have different days than others--it can be confusing but it really doesn't bother me.

Boo&BugsMom replied: When I was young they always did TOTing the Sunday before Halloween during the day. For the last 3-4 years now they have actually done it on Halloween night. I think it's cool to go out at night to see all the kids in their glow necklaces and flashlights. We skip the scary houses (Tanner doesn't like them), but it's neat to see all the kids parading in the dark. We usually have a fire going outside in our firepit out front, and eat chili with some friends while we hand out candy. We don't go until Wednesday so I'll post then. Neat pics everyone!!! thumb.gif

gr33n3y3z replied:
same here
5pm to 8pm

grapfruit replied: We've always been told which night is TOT night (begger's night). And it's never on the weekend. Usually the Thursday before. The reason we were always told was b/c of safety. (too many Drunk Drivers...) I don't think I've EVER trick or treated on Halloween...

I just moved to a rural community that has theirs on Sunday 2-4 or something. That weirded me out a bit. I asked and was told they had such a problem w/vandals and kids getting candy stolen mad.gif , etc that they moved it to Sunday afternoon.

amynicole21 replied: We went last night and the girls did really well. I'm glad they just wanted to go to a few houses though wink.gif

luvbug00 replied: will post apic of mya latter. we went last night and she did 2 neighborhoods.

here kids start by age ( not any spoken rule it's just done that way)

ages 0-5 go arround 6 to about 7:30
ages 6-10 7:30-8:30
ages 10-18 ( yes 18) go from 8-10 ot 11. depending on who is still handing out the goods . here most people close shop arround 10:30.

Mya went from 6:30-7:30 and from 8-8:45

DillsMommy replied: Such cute costumes!!
I didn't get any pictures sleep.gif Except for one on my phone that isn't real clear. Dylan was a ninja turtle and Peyton was a very angry dinosaure. He hated being in that costume.
