toddler vs big bed

Kaitlin'smom wrote: Kait said to me last night she wanted a big bed like us, currently she is in a toddler bed, her crib converted by taking the front off to make a toddler bed. What I was wondering is if I should go get a toddler bed that does looks lore like a big bed or just get a twin or full bed for her. What do you kids have? Any suggestions or ideas?

ediep replied: I would get her a twin bed, so you don't have to spend the money on another toddler bed, then in a year or 2, get a twin bed anyway....

aspenblue1 replied: Isabella has a twin bed. I would just get either a twin or full bed.

coasterqueen replied: We bought Kylie a full size bed. It's about all that would fit into her room, lol. The frame is pretty big. I don't notice much difference in sleeping in a full vs a queen actually. Since her's sits so high off the floor we had to get a step to go up to it. We even have to use the step, lol. And I have rails on each side so she doesn't fall out.

ammommy replied: We went straight to a full sized bed for Alec and will for Megan when the time comes. If you do get a regular bed, get a bungy board instead of box springs. The bed sits lower to the floor then and it's easier to get in and out of.

mckayleesmom replied: Right now Mckaylee is on an air mattress, because we need to get her a bed,,,,We are thinking of getting another king size bed and giving her the queen. If not...we will just buy her a twin.

MissyKay2005 replied:
Agree here! biggrin.gif You can get those safty side things so they can't roll off then.

coasterqueen replied:
I agree! We went with box springs on Kylie's bed and it sits WAY too high.

ammommy replied:
oops, I think it's called a bunky board blush.gif

kimberley replied: Jade has a twin, the boys have a full and twin bunks. never used a toddler bed.

3xsthefun replied: Both of my girls went straight to a twin bed. Well Maegan don't sleep in her's that much.

CantWait replied: If she's not going to fall out, get a regular twin bed. Much more cost effective.

MommyToAshley replied: I agree, I wouldn't spend money on a toddler bed that she will probably only use for a year.

Our convertible crib changes into a toddler bed, but it also converts to a full size bed. You may want to check to see if your's does this as well.

Kaitlin'smom replied:
she is in the toddler part of it now but she said she does not like the back rail, I think she still feels like a crib to her, I will have to look and see if it can convert, not sure I did not get to help put it together so I am not sure where the instructions got off to wink.gif

thanks everyone, I am not going to do anything unless she keeps asking, I was looking at the store yesterday and they had a real nice otllder bed for $50 so it really would not cost much at all and it fits her matress she has, so I would not have to buy new bedding either. We will just wait a bit longer and see.

angelhair replied: i would defently get her a twin size bed and maybe take her shopping and let her chose some sheets and make it special. good luck! love dee

DansMom replied: Daniel has a full sized bed. We started with just the mattress, and now he has the box spring under it. It's not far to fall if he does roll off, but I have cushions around the bed anyway. We don't have a bedstead yet, but we will get one that matches his other furniture when he's a bit older.

A&A'smommy replied: Were getting ready to switch too I wasn't sure what to do but I think I know the answer now!! Good question Di!!
