this is how dorky i am - your gonna love this
luvbug00 wrote: So we live here in NOVA and we have all your typical fast food places, wendys , mcd's and taco bell, pizza hut. We are consitantly getting commercials for this place called SONIC. So saterday lars and i were like we've had it with thease commercials for all this yummy grub , where is this place??? well it is a wee bit over an hour away (says mapquest). So we pack the kid and dog in the car and head out at 7:30pm........... ...........at 9 pm we reach the drive in. It was the best place ever!!!!!! we ordered one of almost everything on the menu. so $38 later we are stuffed happy and get home by 11:30pm.. are we lame or what??
Celestrina replied: No offense, but you spent all that gas to go to a fast food restaurant?
cameragirl21 replied: I was thinking the same thing, just think what that meal cost you in gas money. BUT if you enjioyed the food and had a good meal with your family then it was worth it, as long as you don't do it too often.
grapfruit replied: You kill me.
We had the same thing. All these Sonic commercial and no Sonic! The only one in I think Ohio at the time was about an hour and half away. So we went one day. It was ok. I had it again in CA.
Now there is 2 w/in 30 min. The town we used to live in and go to a lot and the town 7 min to the south
Oh and it's on our "Do not eat" list (along w/Taco Bell for me). Tim got sick from it last week. I don't know for sure, but I'm about 95% sure his hamburger had a tomato on it. Don't know if it was that or what....I was fine (chicken sandwich)
They're a little too pricey for me, and not that "great" I prefer Culvers (which is from WI, so you probably don't have). We have 2 near us! They're right next door to Sonic and have awesome custard ice cream. and these delicious cheese curds. (deep fried chunks of cheese that squeek when you bite into them) I think they're made w/"curd" cheese if you KWIM. Yum!! Ask Jen and Troy, they probably know!!
Calimama replied: I love Sonic drinks! When I was pregnant DH would take me to the closest one we have... 55 miles away. Man I need to get pregnant again so I can convince him to go.
Crystalina replied: I would probably have done the same thing. Road trips are fun! Especially for a silly reason like fast food. We don't have a Sonic either and we have to live with those commercials too.
TheOaf66 replied: we have commercials for Sonic, CeCe's Pizza, Dave and Busters and we don't have any of those near us
grapfruit replied: Exactally! We'll get on the motorcycle and try and get lost, stop at a little restaurant for lunch. Stuff like that. I know it seems like a luxury that can't be afforded. All the gas and such. But to mean, memories mean more. Would I rather look back and realize we never did anything fun as a family b/c we didn't want to spend that gas. I'd rather drop something out of my budget to have an experience.
Crystalina replied: I hate that! We don't have any of those either and have to sit through the commercials. The one that really gets me is Quizno's. I want one of those so bad!
Calimama replied: We do that too. We'll pack a little bag and go to different cities in our area and go to fairs, or museums, or little festivals.
grapfruit replied: Dave and Buster's is WAY fun! Closest one to us is about an hour and 1/2 to 2 hours too
For a few weeks I got to go every Monday (free appetizers and 1/2 price drinks!) The appetizers are HUGE, so that was the meal, and somebody in our group knew the bartender so he'd stack shot glasses and ring us up before happy hour was over. Then if we didn't drink the drinks, he'd just void us out. A whole fun night out and it'd cost like 6 bucks!!
That was when I was in Columbus for training (in a hotel room) for 8 weeks though. I never drove 2 hours JUST to go.
luvbug00 replied:
sure did!
we aren't gonna go again for quite some time and while going we got to go threw some great farm & small towns and it was just beautiful. The dog loved it and so did mya, and we loved the food. It was a treat for all and it was worth the gas.
luvmykids replied: Sonic is a classic around here I love their shakes, we go get ice cream there a lot.
mom21kid2dogs replied: Thanks Nadia! Now I'm going to have to drive to Nelsonville and get a lemon strawberry slush. Real lemons and real strawberries in all that slushy goodness!!! I used to drive by there all the time on my way home from work~love those slushes!!!
Our Lil' Family replied: You aren't missing much from CeCe's!
I have 2 Sonic's within 7 miles of me! It's my almost daily drink stop! Tim prefers their burgers over any of the other places...they taste more "real"!
HuskerMom replied: I love CeCe's! My brother and I went the last time we were in Omaha. It's sooo good!
I don't think I'd drive that far for Sonic, I don't really like it, but I would totally drive that far for Godfather's Pizza.
luvmykids replied: I had no idea those were around anymore, that was my favorite when I was a kid!
A&A'smommy replied: I can't get over how many of ya'll don't have a sonic there is seriously one in every single town in alabama, mississippi, georgia maybe even florida (haven't been that many place in florida) tennessee ok they are ALL over the south maybe that explains all the fried food
Your so funny Nadia
Calimama replied: And Texas! I had one across the street from my HS!
skinkybaby replied: My absolute favorite drink is a cherry coke (with extra cherries) from Sonic! Trips like that are fun! It makes for wonderful memories.
Swood75 replied: ok Jessica,now don't forget South Carolina...LOL
MommyToAshley replied: I think it's great to just forget about the gas prices and go on a road trip on a whim. Sometimes the silliest things are just plain fun becaue they are silly.
They're building a Sonic about 5 minutes from our house... I'm looking forward to trying it.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: OH YUM! Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepers! If we ever start drinking soda again I may put myself in the hospital drinking about a dozen route 44 cherry vanilla dr. Peppers!
Jamison'smama replied: Yummy Sonic! We didn't have one for the LONGEST time--the 10 years we have lived in Ohio. Thank goodness they just built 2 of them in Columbus but it is still a 30 minute drive---we do go occasionally but it is a bit hard to justify.
