that oversensitive nose
beckamouse wrote: okay...at first, the ability to smell the pizza shop two blocks away from DH's best friends house was all kinds of fun. now, its the new source of my nausea. i took a shower today, used my normal peach scented shampoo and passion flower body wash and when i turned off the water i could smell the spraypaint my DH used for his little RPG models. *shudder* Then, it was time for food. I made a ham and mustard sandwich and could smell practically every ingredient on it. I could smell the pineapple (the ham was from easter) I could smell the mustard, I could smell the bread and all the other stuff i used or encountered that i mentioned above.. it was way too much and so i spent most of the day in bed with my head under the covers.
so annoying....
sorry...just venting.
love you all by the way *big hugs for everyone*
5littleladies replied: Isn't that fun. When I am pregnant I have super sensitive smell and it makes me so nauseous!! The first few months are torture.
kit_kats_mom replied: Ohhh yeah. I hated that. Luckily, they built a Krispy Kreme Donut Shop right next door to my office when I was pregnant. I would open my window and smell those sweet little deep fried fat balls being fried up. It pretty much covered up the other smells that I couldn't stand. LOL
CantWait replied: Iewwwwww I know what you mean. When I was pregnant with Anthony I worked in a restaraunt and every morning when I walked in during opening I could smell the food preparing for the day. It turns my stomach just thinking about it.
beckamouse replied: i just bought a cup of cinnamon tea from the coffee beanery....its overpowered every possible smell its great
A&A'smommy replied: UGH I never had any nausea (THANK GOD!) although I did have the flu worse than ever when I was about 8wks pg., I smelled these cheese enchiladas that my friends mother made for us. As soon as I smelled them I got up and ran to the bathroom I was so sick.
coasterqueen replied: LOL. DH hated that oversensitive nose more than I did.
amynicole21 replied: That was one of the WORST parts about pregnancy in my opinion!! I couldn't stand the smell of cooking meat for instance, so DH had to cook every night while I laid on the couch gagging. And I could tell that DH had smoked a cigarette from a mile away. UGH!
A&A'smommy replied: oh yes me too!!!
beckamouse replied: cigarette smoke gets me every time and my DH is a smoker...i gotta get him to work on that before the baby shows up or i'll be pissed....
*gags* and he's eating a bag of salt and vinager chips right now and its really nasty
Mom2Boyz replied: Isn't the sense of smell a wonderful thing when you're pg? When I was pg I worked in a deli. Everyday when I was cleaning up I would literly GAG when it was time to put up the chilli away. The smell just killed me. Hopefully it will get better for you soon
DansMom replied: I STILL can't tolerate a certain shampoo (used to be my favorite) that made me nauseated when I was pregnant. The hairspray they used on my hair for my wedding made me sick, and now still does when I smell it at my hair salon. Some of those negative reactions persist after you've had the baby, especially fragrances and perfumes (but not food---I have no trouble with that now!)
That aspect of things (nausea and sensitivity to smells) gets a little bit better for most people after the first trimester.
Elle replied: I was about to say the exact same thing *lol*
