MomToMany replied: My daughters were over 6 months old before starting them on cereal. Their tummies aren't ready for solids until then. Kayla is 7 months old and just starting to like her solid food.
ediep replied: I started Jay at about 4 months, but he didn't really like it for a while. If I could do it over, I would wait longer
jdkjd replied: Kiera and Bailey started at about 4 months and they both loved it. I think it should be based on the individual child. Kiera would watch my fork and spoon so I started her and she loved. She didn't like the cereal but she loved applesauce and pears.
MommyToAshley replied: I think it is based on the individual child. I started my daughter around 4 months on rice cereal as well. She just wasn't getting full enough on breastmilk alone and showed all the signs of being interested in solids. She loved it and did fine with it.
kimberley replied: my boys started at 4&5mos. Jade was exclusively bf until 7mos when we *tried* rice cereal and she hated it. she didn't start really eating until almost 1yo.
Mommy2BAK replied: Blakely's pediatrician told me that 4-6 months is when to start cereal. I think their stomachs are equipt to handle cereal at 4 months.
darrylswifeskylersmom replied: skyler was 8 months ( he had surgery so he was a bit behind) but i think u can start babies on it when there 6 months!
A&A'smommy replied: 4 months, my baby was formula fed
~KARA~ replied: My oldest dd was 2 weeks and my youngest was 3 weeks. I started them on oatmeal baby cereal first cause rice will constipate them.
My oldest was on 2% milk by 2months and the youngest was 6mo. Only cause they were both drinking so much formula. The dr approved!
gr33n3y3z replied: 4 months old
MomToMany replied: Wow! I can't believe a Dr. would recommend that!
FroggyJK replied: Wow! I agree with you!
Both my kids were 6 months when they started on solids.
maestra replied: We gave Jaci some cereal at 4 months, but regretted the decision. She didn't like it much and even though she showed all the signs of being ready, she wasn't. She hated the way it felt in her mouth, and much prefered to nurse. At 6 months we tried again and she was ready.
I will probably wait until this next one is 6 months- our ped recommends waiting until then.
loveydad replied: They were between 4-6 months. Rice cereal is nasty though, my kids perfer people food! LOL
ctymom replied: I started Erica at around 4 months. She just couldnt get enough formula and was still hungry so I had to start her then. Typically it's 6 months, but sometimes you have to take clues from the baby. Erica was born a big baby and hungry from the get-go! lol
