teething!! - Already?

A&A'smommy wrote: since last friday alyssa has been drooling like crazy and biting everything site including me and it SOO hard!! She has also been really clingy more so than usual and fussy. I have been letting her chew on her chew toys and when i get the chance (when shes not asleep) wetting her wash clothes in nursery water (im really paranoid!) and freezing it for ten minutes and then letting her chew on it and it usually keeps her from fussing for a few minutes but that doesnt last very long, is she really teething and if so should i get her some baby oragel? this is soo frustrating i need a break and i feel so bad for my poor baby girl!!!!! i just dont know what to do, i feel horrible for her!!!

CantWait replied: It's definetly possible for her to be teething. Anthony started around 2 months, although he still doesn't have any, and he's 7 months. Myself I had 2 teeth at 2 months old ohmy.gif

Oragel is not reccomended as researchers don't know how it will affect the baby when swallowed and it can numb the baby's throat making it difficult for them to breath. I've heard that teething tabs work, but I don't know what's in them, and have seen no research on them either. I have no ideas for you except to keep doing what you're doing. Good Luck and I hope that Alyssa breaks the surface soon grouphug.gif grouphug.gif Hugs for both of you.

5littleladies replied: It could absolutly be that she is teething. Maddie started teething at around 2 months. I've used Orajel with all 3 of my kids and have never had nor heard of any adverse side effects so if you feel comfortable using it-I would say go ahead. It sure helped my little ones. Good luck!! It's not fun but doesn't last forever. smile.gif

MommyToAshley replied: My Ped recommended orajel as well, but Ashley hated it. She would scream anytime I tried to use it, I guess she didn't like the way it felt. Someone here recommended the Hyland Teething Tablets and they worked great. (Well, until molars and then nothing worked.) You can find them in most drug stores, if not you can buy them online:

(Just search on Hyland Teething Tablets)

coasterqueen replied: I think it's very possible! Kylie was teething at that age and had her first tooth right before 4 months of age!

momma2jenna replied: I agree with M2A, she's the one that told me about the Hyland tabs, I got some for Jenna and they sure seemed to help. Plus, they're homeopathic, so I didn't worry about it being a med. They're worth a try. I found them at Albertson's for about $4.50 or so for a bottle of them.

mummy2girls replied: It si defenitely possible! Jenna srtarted to drool and bite everything including me at around 3 months or so but the teeth didnt surface for a couple weeks. So hang in there! It is really rough at times. I live by hylands teething tablets! They are all natural and so wonderful. Ive been using them with her molar she is cutting and so far so good...

kimberley replied: yup, it's very likely. jade started at about 8wks and has no toofers yet. wow, things are so different in Canada. they do not recommend using orajel at all for the reason's Marie says and it can numb their tongue and they could choke on it. i have also heard a lot about hyland teething tabs but haven't done any research on them yet. if she is really suffering, give her a bit of motrin. i find brief gum massage with my little finger helps too. hope she feels better soon. grouphug.gif

A&A'smommy replied: i gave her some tylenol and it helped because she was able to get a nap which is good she was getting really fussy, and getting mad because i wouldnt let her hit my keyboard LOLOL rolling_smile.gif !! Thanks for all the advice i think when i can im going to see if i can find some teething tabs.

jen replied: I hope her teeth come through fast and she doesn't have to go through it much longer smile.gif Poor lil' girl! sad.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied: awww poor thing I hope she gets some relief soon!

A&A'smommy replied:
thanks so much!!! i will definilty look into it.

cadia replied: My little one will be 4 months on the 11th of March and she started teething at 3 months, I used everything, massage, tylenol, motrin, oragel, oragel swabs, teething rings,toys,washcloths..and the only thing that has worked so far is those teething tablets, I either crush them up and put them in water or breastmilk or I hold them on her tongue one at a time till they dissolve. These things are the only thing that work so far I love them. Seems like she's getting a whole mouth full of teeth all at once though, poor babies, i'm so glad I don't remember cutting teeth! baby.gif

3xsthefun replied: Maegan has also been drooling and chewing on everything like crazy! She has been doing this for the last month, maybe a bit longer. She isn't to fussy though.

A&A'smommy replied:
Wow your baby and Tina's baby were born on the same day, just a couple of days before Alyssa that is pretty cool!
