spin off of pro life thread - im confused

ZandersMama wrote: i dont really pay attention alot of the time, lol, and i never heard of partial birth abortion until reading the other thread so i googled it rather then come off as really uninformed. tongue.gif

anyway, found an article saying that this was done between 18 and 26 weeks, please someone tell me i am wrong sad.gif

its just zavier came out just before 26 weeks, and came out with such a tiny cry, struggleing and fighting to live. he wanted to live. just scares the crap out of me to be honest. anyway not to start anything, i just dont think its something done in Canada and im hoping it was a really old or really uninformed article.

5littleladies replied: Most partial birth abortions are done in the 20-26 week range and some are done even later. It is absolutely nauseating and it appalls me that it is done in a 'civilized' society. sleep.gif

PrairieMom replied: I have heard of it being done all the way up to full term, but I don't have any info to support that.

A&A'smommy replied: I watched a video of one being done and the baby was crying bawling.gif it still haunts me

luvmykids replied:
OMG, just imagining that is haunting enough bawling.gif bawling.gif

ZandersMama replied: bawling.gif puke.gif bawling.gif

jem0622 replied: Sadly, that information is correct. And it is very sad. I do not support that particular procedure under any circumstances. I have known mothers who knew their babies would die shortly after birth due to health/deformity reasons...but they needed to hold that child.

I wish I had had that chance but instead they determined that my angel had passed at a stage where a D&C was possible (I did not find out about the loss until 16 w, but life ended just after a perfect sonogram at 14w3d). That was not the way I wanted things to end.

Calimama replied:
Oh that's just horrid. bawling.gif bawling.gif bawling.gif

mammag replied: It really is horrific.

FWIW, Obama voted against banning partial birth abortions in 1997 (voted "present" in other votes regarding this issue). McCain Voted for the ban of partial birth abortions except if the mother's health was in jeopardy.

moped replied: Ok, I just read up on what that is and OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Danalana replied: Yes. Obama does support it, which is why he will never, in a million years, have my support. i don't care what his other policies are. I saw an interview with a woman who used to be a nurse in a facility where they practiced partial birth abortions. She can't even sleep without the aid of heavy medications. She said that there were many times that the baby wasn't dead and was left to die in a pile of soiled linens bawling.gif She actually held a few until they breathed their last breath. It is absolutely disgusting that we live in a country where that is legal. People, know who you are voting for and what they support!

jacobsmama replied:
OMG....me either bawling.gif

moped replied: I jsut have one question......why would a person do this. I mean an abortion can be done at 8 weeks - why 26 plus weeks???????????? Seriously why would a person do this?

Danalana replied: I don't know...I don't know why we do a lot of things.

A&A'smommy replied:
I think I know what interview you are talking about and that was live birth abortion which is where the mother is giving something and the baby is born to die it is LITEREALLY suffocating to death bawling.gif

Nina J replied: There was a lady a few years ago who had an abortion at 34 weeks, or 35. I can't remember exactly, but it was in the 30 weeks. She aborted the baby because she found out it had dwarfism. Initially doctors and hospitals said no and the woman said she would kill herself if they didn't, I believe she may have hurt herself. Even so, it's just disgusting. What does it matter if your child has dwarfism? You can easily cater for the height needs and besides that, the baby would have grown to live a normal life. I will always remember that...I would've adopted that poor little baby in a heart beat and gave it a family that didn't give it's condition a second thought.
