speaking of kids immitating stuff...

PrairieMom wrote: We went to the Shrine Circus last night. I have to say I was NOT impressed.
Why is it necessary for a trapeze artist to wear a G string? and why are all those " bouncy" girls even there? they wear skimpy spandex with 4 or 5 cleverly places sequins, then stand on the sides bouncing and doing Jazz hands. dry.gif So, if thats isn't enough, While all this is going on I look over and see this biggrin.gif on DH's face, rolleyes.gif and Al is totally trying to do the dance moves. She was moving her feet and shaking her hands... blink.gif mad.gif not impressed. I did not pay $40 for tickets to get in there to teach her how to be a bouncy hoochy. mad.gif

luvmykids replied: Sex sells, right? Personally, I know it's a fact of life these days blahblah.gif blahblah.gif but I still think it's awful, annoying and ridiculous that there is just about nothing that hasn't been invaded by it growl.gif

PrairieMom replied: well, the sex may have just cost them my families $ for next year. the acts really weren't that great either, well, we only stayed for intermission, so it could have improved by the end, but it almost seemed like a rebuilding year or something. Like the got a bunch of new people in who just needed to practice a bit more or something.
The Lion wasn't there, he was so old 2 years ago, he probably kicked the bucket, and that poor elephant... he just looked so sad. sad.gif

A&A'smommy replied: yuck what a pain in the butt and as for your dh if it was mine I would have slapped the biggrin.gif off his face emlaugh.gif no not really but I would have wanted to rolleyes.gif I'm so sick of seeing sex everywhere that I just want to BLOW up!!!

Boo&BugsMom replied: G-string??? ohmy.gif blink.gif wacko.gif

We took Tanner to a circus once. He was about 3 years old. Throughout the whole thing he kept saying he was bored...even with the bears, lions, etc. He wasn't too keen on anything he saw. Then, at the very end they had this dance troupe that resembled the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders. The girls danced, had on very little clothing (I use to be a pom pom girl, and I even thought it was little), shaked their behinds, etc. THEN...when they were all done dancing Tanner stood up and started clapping and cheering for the dancers! rolleyes.gif wacko.gif

He is daddy's little man. rolleyes.gif Always been a ladies man.

TheOaf66 replied:
it was also the Shrine Circus and yes their show sucked

PrairieMom replied:
A blue G-string.
and don't get me started on the contortionist. thats more p&I.

coasterqueen replied: I haven't been impressed with the circus' that comes to town in years! They all aren't worth the money. dry.gif

cameragirl21 replied: I don't go to circuses, period...they are mean to animals. biggrin.gif

PrairieMom replied:
yeeaaahhh... can we have a civil discussion about that?
Could you point me to any proof of animal cruelty? I was thinking about that last night, but it was nothing that I wouldn't say I do to my dog.

cameragirl21 replied: Do you make your dogs jump through hoops of fire? Obviously that takes practice and I'm sure it's not accident free. Animals are, by nature, afraid of fire.
Also, do you make your dogs stand on their heads as circus elephants do? Pretty sure elephants aren't into that.
Also, they are shipped around like cargo as the circus goes from one city to the next.
The fact that elephants take off in a rage in some circus accidents is proof...they are meant to live free in Africa and India, not forced into servitude here in the US for our entertainment.
Those are just a few examples.
The way I see it, if clowns want to pile on top of each other into cars, that is their choice. If trapeze artists want to fly from one swing to the next wearing a g string or even naked for that matter, that too, is their choice.
The day a bear tells me it's his/her choice to ride a bicycle on a stage, or a tiger gives me the impression that he enjoys jumping through hoops of fire or an elephant seems to enjoy standing on his head, I will reconsider my opinion of the circus.
Every elephant I've ever seen that gives rides for a living or something to that effect (in captivity) looks extremely unhappy to me. sad.gif
edited for a typo.

PrairieMom replied:
I get that. But can you point me to where there is any proof of animal cruelty? I don't know how they get animals to do stuff, but that doesn't mean there was cruelty involved. My dog can jump through hoops. Actually, Lycos has learned to "get that, and bring it here' and will bring me anything I ask for. but I taught him with positive reinforcement.
I'm not arguing, I am actually interested in knowing.

These are just a few....

My2Beauties replied: Plus dogs are domesticated animals and are meant to live with people and interact with people...these are wild animals that are taken out of their habitat and trained to be entertainment to people....I wouldn't wanna jump through hoops of fire either.

CantWait replied:
ITA......I'm not into animal circuses. Unfortunetly dh doesn't think the same way, so I'm sure one day we'll be heading to one of the famous Moscow circuses.

HuskerMom replied: I've always loved the circus. I took Keith to his first circus last summer (it was a Shrine circus) and he loved it. I don't remember seeing g-strings or "bouncy girls", sorry they were at yours. I always try to go to the Shrine circuses because my dad is a Shriner.

TrulyBlessed replied: That sounds very disappointing. I also am tired of all the "sex sells". I wish some modesty would come back, there are just no limitations any more. It drives me bonkers.
