something ridiculuos that the ped said
ediep wrote: my friend just took her 1 year old son into the ped last week because he had a cold and he was really cranky. She noticed that he was also cutting some teeth and she mentioned it to the doc, he said "believe it or not, teething does not hurt"
My friend just looked at the doc in awe...."what? , then why has he been so cranky?"
The doc said "its not related to the teething"
Any other mom find that completely ridiculous??
I KNOW for a fact that teething hurts....I got 1 of my wisdom teeth in when I was 24, and it hurt so bad that I was in tears when my tylenol or advil wore off.
Jason was so cranky and out of sorts when he was teething too.
coasterqueen replied: Unbelievable!
amymom replied: Odd very odd. Sometimes doctors say the weirdest things. So is she looking for a new pediatrician?
My3LilMonkeys replied: VERY odd, and I don't believe it. I have 3 wisdom teeth that are partially in and every once in a while they move a little more and it is VERY painful.
MommyToAshley replied: I KNOW this is ridiculous. When Ashley's molars were coming in, she TOLD me that they hurt and pointed to the teeth that were coming in. I hope your friend is looking for a new ped.
jacobsmama replied: wow..how can he say that teeth don't hurt?
luvmykids replied: I hate condescending doctors! Hope she ditched him.
ilovemybaby replied: That's utter bull crap. Unfortunately some doctors like to think that other illnesses or colds cause teething symptoms like diarrhea and diaper rash and runny noses and the slight temp. But teething definitely hurts.
A&A'smommy replied: WOW that is crazy!!!!
kimberley replied: how dumb is that?! of course it hurts! why exactly did they make baby ambesol then?!?! DUH!
Kaitlin'smom replied: and where did he go to school? sounds like he never answerd the cranky question then. How absurd. I woudl be finding a new doc ASAP
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: Though I wouldn't agree with that neither of my kids ever seemed to be bothered from teething. I only ever knew they were getting teeth when they popped through.
calbury replied: This reminds me of all the books I read telling me that breast-feeding wouldn't hurt either! Was I in for a surprise!
Seriously, though, this kind of comment can add unnecessary anxiety to an already difficult situation - the parents are left wondering what's causing their child's distress, if not their teeth. He really needs challenging for making such ridiculous remarks.
EvesMom replied: The doc should have opened mouth insert foot. Teething isn't painful.......? That's like saying child birth isn't painful!
mckayleesmom replied: What a dork...I would get a new pediatrician....This guy obviously let his wife handle the kids when they were teething...
MomToJade&Jordan replied: Okay sure. Tell that to poor Jordan over here who is drooling like a mad woman and knawing on her hands. What a moron.
b&bsmom replied: What I find really odd is that usually doctors use teething as the excuse for always being cranky. Kind of like when they are not sure why ...blame on teeth. Never heard it not hurting. Very odd.
A&A'smommy replied: lol ya'll this post is a month old.. but yeah ya'll are right he is a crazy man!!
Edward's Mommy replied: A baby cutting teeth hurts worse than an adult with a migrane!
americangirl85 replied: I seriously doubt that because I get migraines and i black out,i have the migraine for a week,I cant walk, talk,or move.a baby teething is not as painful as a migraine.but yes it is still pretty painful for them i know.
MyLuvBugs replied: Oh sure , b/c when I think of poking a sharp object through my skin slowly, having it take days and days to break through, that doesn't just SCREAM pain to me...Whatever! He's probably the same Dr. that believes there aren't nerves in your vagina so childbirth shouldn't hurt! Good grief! I say drop him like a bad habit!
