something I saw

Kaitlin'smom wrote: and wondering if its 'safe'.

In a van there was a car seat you know the type that can be usesed for infants or toddlers, foward or front facing. Well it was front facing, however it was in the recline position, you could tell the seat had been leaned back to support it. Looked like it might be more confortable for a long ride, but would it be safe? I wish I cold see who made the seat, but I cant. Just thought it was intereings and wondered your thoughts on it. (Only thoughts please)

1lilpeanut2love replied: Wrong and not good at all!! Most carseats these days have a ball in them to see if they are installed right, I bet that one was way off! JMHO! What is wrong with people! sad.gif

C&K*s Mommie replied: I am not sure if I have ever seen a car seat that can be reclined. huh.gif
But I would imagine that it would not be all that safe, simply because if there is an impact the car seat may jerk forward and with the extra recline the seat is in, I would think that it would come forward harder than normal. I do not know for certain, though.. just a thought.

Kaitlin'smom replied: I was also thinking maybe its designed that way, for kids who are older/bigger and are special. (I hope that was an okay way to put it.)

mckayleesmom replied: Mckaylee has a carseat that you can recline a little bit...not a whole lot. In order to recline it....we have to adjust the seats all over again to level out the seat.

TheOaf66 replied: you don't want it to be reclined because there is more potential for injury then, age doesn't really matter, remember the days before car seats, I remember riding in the front seat when I was 4 or 5 and not thinkin anything of it, my how times change.

holley79 replied: I honestly have no clue. I have never seem one that reclined. My guess is, it wasn't reclined it was following the slope of the seat. I know the first time I installed mine it sat kind of forward and had to have something under the base to bring it labor.

C&K*s Mommie replied:
Then if the seat and carseat were designed to work in conjuction to be reclined and all the safety tests were passed, with the seat and carseat like that, then that would be fine.

But for a regular carseat to be be in a regular reclined seat, than I would think that something is unsafe.

mckayleesmom replied:
See though.....its doesn't really recline enough to really even notice...I don't even use it actually. Im guessing the seat she is talking about is for a child of special needs. Peyton just got his and it reclines because he has no neck muscles to hold his head up.

Ashlynn's Mommy replied:
My car seat has the same thing. I can't imagine how a reclined car seat would be safe. However, find me one that is 100% safe, and I will buy it. my baby hates the car seat. I think because she can't lay down.

ashtonsmama replied:
Ashton, so far, likes it ok. He sometimes has fits and doesn't want to go in, and squirms and screeches...but that's not too common, PRAISE GOD. I think it's normal though, most babies hate the car seat. It's just really restrictive...
