so crampy

amynicole21 wrote: Seems like all of the normal symptoms are starting MUCH earlier this time around. I'm even really crampy like I remember being at 10weeks, but not at 4.5! I started getting really worried today because the cramping wouldn't stop - not strong, but like I remember braxton hicks feeling like. I'd better call the doc to get in for my first appointment before I drive myself crazy. wacko.gif

mummy2girls replied: I found with jenna i was more crampy early on. Maby because its your second pregnancy... Give the doc a call and im sure everything will be ok...

momof2girls replied: I was crampy early on, but if your worried call your dr.
Im sure all will be ok

maestra replied: I was really crampy at first with this preg too, and had braxton hicks much much earlier this time. grouphug.gif

Littlejojames replied: Have you called the dr???
How is everything?

Hope that your ok and your cramping stops soon......

coasterqueen replied: Amy,

I noticed I was particularly crampy more this time than with Kylie. The cramping seemed different this time around. And I'm talking about the normal cramping not the cramping I'm getting with spotting. My doctor said the second time around it's normal to feel more cramping and it may feel much different than the first time. With Kylie it felt like "stretching" when I cramped but this time it feels like real cramps like with AF. So I felt more comfortable knowing that it can feel different the second time around and earlier on.

I'd still call your doc to get your 1st appt set up wink.gif. When does your doc usually take you? 8 weeks? That's when mine normally did but with this one it was much earlier.

amynicole21 replied: THanks, guys. It seems to have stopped now. I did finally make an appointment with the doc, but they didn't have an opening until the 28th dry.gif Grrr.

coasterqueen replied: Seems like a long wait, but not too bad huh? You'll be what, 7 weeks or so? I know with Kylie they wouldn't even see me til 8 weeks and then it was just to pee in a cup, get some blood tests and to tell me "yes you are pg". tongue.gif rolleyes.gif

I'm glad the cramping has stopped. grouphug.gif Take care of that little bean in there wink.gif. BTW, I just noticed we are like exactly 5 weeks apart. biggrin.gif

Schnoogly replied: Wow congrats! I go away and come back and here you are all pregnant!

I have been a lot crampier this time around too, esp. that first week after I missed my period. And then again at 8 weeks I started cramping and spotting a lot, and am still spotting a bit.

What's the connection between progesterone and nursing??

kit_kats_mom replied: I've not had too much cramping with the second but the Braxton Hix's? Let's not even go there! LOL

It sounds like from the other ladies responses that it's probably pretty normal though. tongue.gif

ediep replied: OMG AIMEE!!!!! Congrats!!!! I went away for 7 days and ...wow....such big news!! I am going to search for your announcement!!

maliksmommy replied: I am sorry that you have been crampy!

I can't believe I missed your post about being PG!!!! CONGRATULATIONS!! I am so happy for you guys biggrin.gif

Jamison'smama replied: Yep, I had lots of cramps too and Braxton Hicks----Very early!!! Sounds like you're normal!

amynicole21 replied:
Yikes! Sorry to hear you've been spotting. I hope that stops soon!

A few things I've read about progesterone say that it can sometimes be too low if you are nursing through the first trimester. I asked my doc about it though, and she said that women have been nursing and pregnant since the beginning of time. rolleyes.gif Yes, but lots of women have also had miscarriages since the beginning of time mad.gif I'll push to have it checked at my appointment, though I'm sure I'll have plenty of eyes rolled at me at the office dry.gif

coasterqueen replied: Amy - my doctor said the same thing. She checked it the first time because I told her I was still nursing but that's not why she kept checking it and put me on suppositories. Matter a fact mine wasn't low enough by her standards to suggest progesterone supp. but she decided to do it because she couldn't figure out why I was spotting.

From all the research my good friend has done for me on the subject the main reason progesterone can be low because of pg is if your child is nursing 24/7 literally. So my guess is your progesterone is not probably low, but I agree it's always safe to check it. It was my reason for checking it too wink.gif.

MommyToAshley replied: Glad you are feeling a little better. grouphug.gif I had bad cramping and AF symptoms with my pregnancy too. Hang in there!

Schnoogly replied: Ah, well. I haven't had any levels checked, and I am seeing a licensed midwife not a doctor, and she told me that there isn't really a connection between miscarriage and BF, the only reason to worry is if you have a history of preterm labor, and that would be later in the PG.

I actually think my spotting is caused by a super energetic strong toddler who sits down HARD in my lap and tends to tackle me and climb on me a lot. The spotting seems to get worse after he's been really rough with me. I am trying to teach him to be gentle but he's just so excitable!!

Sorry to hijack--hope you have an uneventful PG!!

coasterqueen replied:
I've been noticing some of my cramping/spotting after doing too much or Kylie getting too rambunctious with me. The doctor has me on strict orders to do nothing, lol, so that's what I'm trying to do. rolleyes.gif

New Mommy replied: You guys all need to remember to take it easy. The first weeks are always very crucial. Good luck to you guys and make sure you take you vitamins. hehe

Schnoogly replied:
Sooooo....you'll be sending Kylie to the docs for a visit right???

The problem is that he gets more excited when i lay down, like it's a cue to tackle me blink.gif

coasterqueen replied:
biggrin.gif rolling_smile.gif Yeah I should send her. She's the same way. If I'm laying down she thinks I immediately become a jungle gym. wacko.gif She climbs over to one side of me, back over to the other side, etc etc, etc. wacko.gif wacko.gif I keep telling her not to hurt the baby but she doesn't listen. rolleyes.gif For some reason this time around any pressure anywhere near my belly is KILLER. huh.gif Course maybe it's because I didn't have a 30 pound child bouncing on my belly the 1st time around. laugh.gif

Schnoogly replied: I know, I keep thinking about all the things I was afraid to do during my first pg, like I never lifted anything, wouldn't have touched anything remotely germy, etc. Now I rinse poopy cloth diapers in the toilet and go from sitting to standing all while carrying the said 27+ lb toddler. wacko.gif

We should NOT get these kids together...people would have to run for cover!!

Kathy replied: You know. Now that I've had two pregnancies.........and I've spotted and cramped in both......I can say that it's more common than one would think! Prior to getting pregnant.......the idea of bleeding while pg is just horrific!

Julie (jem0622) replied: Just wanted to say congrats! I would push for them to check your progesterone. I was nursing Gabe when I lost my angel. And I know it was my progesterone. Trust me, I just know. Don't let them keep you in the dark. Anything below a 20 is really low and you should have some kind of supplement. I was on 400 mg of prometrium with the girls until 10 wks and then 200 mg until 12 wks. I'll be 27 wks on Friday.

If you feel your doctor office is not responsive enough then switch. It is your right at a patient. It upsets me that women have to lose multiple pregnancies before they look into a cause. Not trying to scare you...I want you to make them test everything so that you know for sure that all is well...that's all.

HUGS and a H&H 9 mos to you!

Julie
