luvbug00 wrote: Crystal brought up these doo hickys (rubber bands that are in the shapes of animals and people. We were chatting and I know mya has about 34 but I really don't get the facination.. I mean don't they cut off circulation at some point? What do ur kids think of them? Are they allowed To have them at school? (Mya is and teacher trades too) So thoughts?
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Yes, they are all wearing them at school here. My neighbor bought some for the kids after she saw that all her students were wearing them at school.
I don't see the harm in them--other than they might be a distraction (??)
kit_kats_mom replied: They are HUGE here. The boys, girls and teenagers have them. At girl scout camp this year, the girls were trading bandz instead of eating at mealtimes. They are not allowed to wear them to school at all. K & L have some but K refuses to wear hers because they are too tight and L's are in a basket by her bed....she's more of a hoarder.
coasterqueen replied: The girls finally got me to break down and buy them some. They can wear them at school here. It's not just kids, but teens and early 20's wearing them around here. There was a young lady at the store one day who had them on. They are just annoyances to me - especially since Megan has to have them, but I find them all over my house. Kylie at least keeps hers either on or in her room.
CantWait replied: Ummm Picture please
moped replied: Yep, i need to see a link or a picture
CantWait replied: Thinking this is just one of those American things
moped replied: Yeah I was too!
Watch Jack say he wants some when i get home today - bet you anything!
bluebear replied: They won't cut off the circulation because they're not rubber bands.
Michaels got some today.

Calimama replied: I think they are ugly and cheap looking. I can see why it appeals to an elementary school level but beyond that age it just seems silly.
stella6979 replied: I absolutely agree!
moped replied: I think they are kinda cute for kids~!
mckayleesmom replied: Mckaylee has a couple, but I don't even know where she got them because I didn't buy them and didn't realize they were all the rage.
CantWait replied: THOSE ARE UGLY!!!!!
Bring back the gel bracelets from the 80's please
~Roo'sMama~ replied: Huh... I haven't seen those around here. I live in the middle of nowhere though! They look kind of cute for little kids. I agree with Marie that our gel bracelets from the 80's were cooler though!
My3LilMonkeys replied: My kids love them and have a bunch. They certainly could cut off circulation on someone with larger wrists if they wore a lot of them...I've stuck them on my wrists when I find them laying around the house and after a few hours they leave indentations just like a rubber band would.
Our school hasn't banned them yet, but there are two schools in our area that have - one because kids were spending their lunch money buying them from each other, and one because kids were flicking them at each other like rubber bands and one kid got hit in the eye.
boyohboyohboy replied: I still have mine, and actually used it when I was breast feeding, and so tired, so I could keep track of what side to start on..I would put it on the wrist of the right side to start.. I think I got that idea from Tara way back when, but I dont remember!
luvbug00 replied: thanks blue bear ur awsome! i thought the circulation was a reson they were banned. tis all.
coasterqueen replied: Kids trade them because you get like 4 of each kind of the different ones. Kylie got some first before we bought her some. Kids just give them to their friends, which is how she got some at first. THen she started trading.
MoonMama replied: Ditto!
A&A'smommy replied: haha I like them they are a fun way to express themselves. When I was a teen (although the kids around here that are wearing them are mostly 1, 2 and 3rd graders) we had bracelets similar to them and we wore them up to our elbows. I personally don't see anything wrong with them.
msoulz replied: So I am hearing that these bracelets may have some special meaning when teenage girls wear them ... what they "will" or "have" done with boys. Anyone else hearing that?
bluebear replied: That's left over from that rubber colored bracelets fad from the early 2000s.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: yeah I saw something like that on Oprah.
luvbug00 replied: i thought that was lipstick...the rainbow thing with boys..that convo is for P&I though..
A&A'smommy replied: not these, different ones several years ago
My2Beauties replied: Hanna has not caught on to this craze yet, I have never seen them, maybe they're not big here! Or I haven't paid attention, watch now I bet i start seein em everywhere!
