renewed hope.

PrairieMom wrote: I talked to a lady at work yesterday who said that her Brother had the same thrush problems I am having while taking Advair for his asthma, and his DR switched him to flovent, and the thrush cleared up! So I called my Doc yesterday morning, and he phoned in a prescription change for me and I have switched. I guess we won't know if it worked for about 2 weeks, we just finished up ANOTHER round of GV, so this was a good time to switch over.
I am SUPER excited. I am so so so so hoping that this works. In the mean time, I have suspended all weaning efforts and am continuing to BF. MAN I hope this works. I'm so excited to at least have hope. thumb.gif

PrairieMom replied:
yuck. What have you been trying? did you try Difflucan yet? At least mine comes and goes, and comes and goes, and comes and goes... rolleyes.gif I think I would loose my mind if I had to fight it for a month. hug.gif

amynicole21 replied:
I have only been using topical cream. I was having issues getting a doctor to prescribe diflucan - long story dry.gif It's nearly gone now... rolleyes.gif

PrairieMom replied: rolleyes.gif Let me guess, you have a male Dr. right?
I hope it clears up soon, and stays away. I would suggest Gentain violet. its messy, but it a 3 day treatment and it has worked well for us. wink.gif

coasterqueen replied: That's great!!!! thumb.gif I hope it works for you. I never heard of an asthma med causing thrush. I learned something new. happy.gif

Oh darn, you just reminded me that I need to start on acido. Megan started an antibiotic last night. Shoot!

PrairieMom replied:
Yup. Inhaled steroids can cause thrush. I asked around and the general consensus was that switching wouldn't help because a steroid is a steroid, but the one I was taking is a powder, and this new one isn't. I figure I have a 50/50 shot that it will help.

~Roo'sMama~ replied: thumb.gif thumb.gif That's great Tara! I hope it works! hug.gif

PrairieMom replied: I'm really getting my hopes up. I Really hope this works. I will be devastated if it doesn't.
I had been on Flovent before, but I don't remember when i changed over to advair, so I don't know if I was having thrush problems then too or not. rolleyes.gif Its just been going on for forever. growl.gif I don't dare to think of how awesome things will be if this works... smile.gif
