reaction to mosquito bites?

ediep wrote: is this normal or should I call the ped?

Jason got 2 mosquito bites on his wrist and it is really red, swelling up, it is hot to touch it.....

When I get a mosquito bite, it it just a small bump, but this is really swollen.

I have been putting benedryl cream on it and at bedtime I gave him some benedryl liquid.....

How long before the swelling goes down? Is there anything better that i can do for him? ANy advice?

MommyToAshley replied: Are you sure they are mesquito bites? It almost sounds like a spider bite? Or maybe he is having a small reaction to the bite?

I am not sure what to do, I wish I had some advice.

luvbug00 replied: Ohhh Don't use cream & liquid at the same time!!!! It can cause a reaction!! Not a huge deal but just not good mix..SOUNDS LIKE A SPIDER BITE. ( sorry Benny hit the caps key.) Hope Jason feels better. wink.gif

ediep replied:
yea, i know not to use them at the same time because they are the same medication and it would be double dosing. I gave him the cream during the day and the liquid tonight. I didn't want to give him the liquid during the day becasue it akes him so tired

ediep replied: are spider bites itchy? his wrist seems to be itchy

TIA

5littleladies replied: My girls occassionally get mosquito bites that swell up and turn red way beyond what is normal. Brianna had one just the other day that was huge-probably half-dollar size. blink.gif As long as it is starting to look better in the morning I wouldn't worry about it.

ediep replied: thanks everyone, its much better this morning. The swelling has gone down and now I can see the little spot where the bug bit him.

I am going to have to remember to put bug repellant on him when we are outside. especially at night.

jcc64 replied: Corey got bit by a mosquito last week- and she still has a noticable mark there. Not swollen- almost like a bruise, but improving each day. I just assumed their skin is more tender than ours??? dunno.gif

gr33n3y3z replied: it is a reaction to a bite of some sort
they itch and hurt at the sametime
If it doesnt look better in a day or 2 call the Dr

luvbug00 replied: Glad to hear all went well. Sorry it sounded like you did them both at the same time. And the liquid does Knock them out!! laugh.gif

dolfinrse replied: Zack is actually allegic to mosquito bites. When he gets them they stay swollen and red for about 2 weeks even with us putting cream on them. THey never seem to make him itch though.

ian'smommy replied: Ian gets mosquito bites that all tend to react different. He gets some that get huge like a quarter at least and others are small but develop heads on them almost like little pimples... I always found those ones strange but they never seem to bother him. He rarely if ever see him scratch, so I don't know if they itch... I know when I get bitten I itch to the point of driving me crazy.. wacko.gif
Glad it's looking better...
