question on - rings

Kaitlin'smom wrote: okay for those of you who have an engagement ring which side do you wear the wedding band on?

inside = close to wrist
ouside =close to fingernail

and does anyone know if there is a so called right way. or what each side means? See I was always told you wear it closes to your heart (inside). However both my sisters wear it the oppsite...so I am wondering if there is a signifcance

amynicole21 replied: The band is closest to your heart. That's what I was told by the jewler anyway. Looks weird the other way huh.gif

Boys r us replied: you're supposed to wear your band first then the engagement ring on the outside! smile.gif

5littleladies replied: I wear mine on the inside. I guess the closest to your heart is my way of thinking. The wedding band is more important to me so i keep it closer I guess. happy.gif

Kaitlin'smom replied:
thats what i thought it looks so weird to me

Kaitlin'smom replied:
my though also

Boys r us replied: we should all post pics of our wedding sets, show off our close to the heart rings wink.gif
We can all marvel over each others jewels! HA

TANNER'S MOM replied: My sister in law also wears hers the wrong way, and it really bothers me.

The wedding ring first , the never ending circle closest to you heart wub.gif

MomToMany replied: Yep, I wear my band on the inside too.

Also, are yours fused together? Mine aren't. Are they supposed to be?

Boys r us replied: Fused together??? confused blush.gif

MommyToAshley replied: I agree with the other ladies, the wedding band goes closest to your heart. I have to get mine resized sad.gif because I still haven't lost enough weight to wear them. Yet another reminder of how thin I used to be. sad.gif

MomToMany replied: I mean joined or connected together. I've seen some like this, and was wondering if it was the rule or the exception.

Maybe they aren't supposed to be?

LOL, never mind!

coasterqueen replied: Yep wedding band closest to your heart and mine are "fused" together..they do it with gold or silver and "fuse" them together.

Has anyone "replaced" their wedding sets at all? DH always said he'd get me a fancier bigger ring and I keep telling him I LOVE the one I have even if it isn't huge and I would never want to replace the ring he gave me the first time. I told him I have 9 other lonely fingers that could use diamonds on them. tongue.gif

favre4fan replied: On the inside!!

Kaitlin'smom replied:
well I have 4 rings currently on my weding finger, 2 wedding bands, the first one is the match to DH's we replced them on our 4th annivesary his was to thin, then my origianl wedding band, DH also has the match to this, then my engagement ring and a wrap around the engagement ring. so they are not fused together.

actually DH just asked me yesterday to find out the price of a setting I fell in love with about 2 years ago, he had always promised on our 10 year to do something better, I dont want a new diamond I love the one I have but a new setting for it would be nice. He is a bit late but at least he is interested in keeping the promise. I go talk with the jewler once he gets in about noon. I am hoping he has not sold it yet.

Boys r us replied: Karen, tell him to get you a right hand diamond!!!!

I don't see anything wrong with replacing it for bigger and better..lol..you could always have your original diamond put into a pendant for a necklace..then it would be REALLY close to your heart wink.gif

coasterqueen replied:
I don't see anything wrong with others doing it for sure. But for me there's something sacred and special about the ring he gave me. He placed it on my hand in front of everyone, god and church. I'm not an extremely religious person or anything but there just seems something special about it. For some stupid reason I feel like I'm saying that the ring means something more by replacing any part of it ya know..IT does mean something to me...but the size or style of it doesn't.

Kaitlin'smom replied:
oh I dont have a problem upgrading but I wont trade it in.....call me greedy I want the first diamond he picked out, its very special to me

TANNER'S MOM replied: When my husband and I got married , we didn't even have rings and on our first annv, he actually went to Wal mart and got me a set for like 150.00 bucks. It was cheap but it meant so much to me! Then on our 5th annv he got me the prettiest set. It had a "real " diamond and was more towards what I wanted. I saved the first set though. It is still very special to me.

We didn't have anything when we first got married and I think about the rings as showing me how far we have come together.

kimberley replied: blush.gif i guess i am backwards. in my head, he put the engagement ring on my finger first, so i keep it closer to my heart. the wedding ring came second to "lock" in our commitment, so i keep it on top. nobody ever told me how they were supposed to go. unsure.gif

Josie83 replied: When we get married I'll wear my wedding ring first then the engagement ring! xx

ediep replied: yup, wedding ring first then engagement ring.

I love my set and wouldn't trade it for anything.....but I do love those 3 stone diamond rings.....maybe for an anniversary or something.

My2Beauties replied: The wedding band goes closest to your heart as I have alwasy heard it, I have never seen anyone wear it differently!!!!!! That is how I'm gonna wear mine! I want mine "fused" together too. DF was already wanting to upgrade mine! It's big enough as it is though. Not that I am bragging but I'm wearing 1 1/4 carats on my finger...it has two sqaure diamons on each side of my marquis!!!! My man has an eye for jewelry! We went and bought his wedding ring about a month ago and it is so beautiful! I can't wait until he gets to wear it all the time! I need to get mine resized though...dummy me had it sized when I was pregnant...and swollen, now it's too big for my finger, I have a ring guard and it's scratching my band! Thanks for reminding me I need to hurry up and get this done.

Lollie replied: Hi.... wavey.gif

My wedding ring is closer to my heart.... wub.gif I didnt even think of wearing it the other way around...
