question/advice

Kaitlin'smom wrote: I have been working extended hours this week since boss and co-worker on on vacation. So Kait has been at the sitters longer also, I want to pay her more this week as a thank you for the longer hours. My question is how should I figure it. I dont want it to be chinsey but not to much either that she might expect the same the next time. help.gif

she normaly has her:
Mon, Wed & Friday 8:30a-4p
Tues 9:30a-6p
Thurs 8:30a-5p

this week she had her
Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri 8:30a-6p
Thurs 8:30a-5p

so a total of 7 extra hours

TANNER'S MOM replied: Ummm I would tip her a day or at least half a days pay...

It;s almost 8hrs a full day she has had her...

But if you dont' want it to seem like you want to do this everytime..

Then maybe tip her w/ a gift card...It will be more recognizable as a Tip that??

gr33n3y3z replied: hmm very difficult question
I would have to say pay her for a full day then
not sure what she is getting so I cant say it would be to much or not enough

Kaitlin'smom replied: I pay 120 a week

I was thinking 150 this week

moped replied: Full day extra I would think. My best freind has a daycare and it is hard to have extra kids around when they aren't normally scheduled.................she is too nice to ask for extra!

Kaitlin'smom replied:
she is not asking at all I just want to do it as a thank you, plus she is going to CA for a few days so the extra will be nice for her to spend

gr33n3y3z replied:
that sounds perfect thumb.gif

moped replied: Actually I like the gift card idea.............maybe for Wal-Mart cause everybody needs stuff at wal-mart.....................LOL

Kaitlin'smom replied:
I would do that (target is her favorite store) but I can't get out today to get it. I have no one to cover the office sad.gif heck its gonna be hard to even go get some lunch sad.gif

mummy2girls replied: I am a fulltime caregiver as you already know blush.gif And last week i worked an extra 8 hours overtime... and just hearing a thank you was good enough for me:) Because its nice to know im appreciated! because ive been with families that just assume i can work late and then dont hear a thank you for it. :angry. But if you want to get her something just give her extra pay like you wanted to expecially if she is going out of town... wink.gif

redchief replied: An extra days pay I think is in order. I don't like the gift card idea except to add to the extra pay. Look at it this way... In your job, if your boss asked you to work overtime and gave you a gift card instead of the overtime pay you deserve, how would you feel?

mammag replied: So what did you end up doing? I would have recommended the extra day pay as well had I seen this earlier... I watch two kids and that is what I would like them to do........but I wouldn't ask for it either so I bet she was really happy if that's what you did.

b&bsmom replied: I am a care giver as well and I would have loved the extra day pay. It is true we just like a thank you and to know we are appreciated. There are too many times when it is easy to take advantage and not realize this is also a job for your care giver as well. I am also the type that would not ask but would greatly appreciate it especially if it was right before I was going away.
