( told ya so!!!!!!)
There i said it! now lets move on. What the heck is wrong with this kid?
sad.gif

lovemy2 replied: Are they thickened bottles of breastmilk I assume? My kids were both pukers - I am sure it contributed to them being as small as they still are - Olivia is 8 and weighs 47 lbs...Dylan is 3 1/2 and I think weighs about 26...they eat alot but never alot at one time - to be honest I think it set them up for some very good eating habits.....both grew out of the puking by the time they were 6 months old. Did alot of laundry and have very few pics of them with out a bib on but all in all they were fine....

PrairieMom replied:
yeah, BM with simply thick added. 2 bottles and so far it has made no difference.
We don't even bother with bibs. they are a joke. this kid ends up sitting in a puddle after eating. sad.gif he needs to start growing. he is supposed to gain 4-8 ounces a week, he gained all of 7 ounces last month. sad.gif

lovemy2 replied: UGH - although Olivia at one point was labeled failure to thrive but she seemed to pull through it - she was a SUPER PUKER!!!

Maybe the allergy testing???

MommyToAshley replied: Could it be an allergy to something you are eating? Have you tried to eliminate dairy since that is the most common culprit. Just a thought? It might be worth it to eliminate dairy from your diet and see if that helps.

MyBlueEyedBabies replied: with Johnny thickening did nothing but he needed to take in at most an ounce an hour.... easier to do with a feeding tube but if he had an ounce or less per hour he would at least very slowly gain but that was better than the loosing he had been doing. And the whole no dairy or corn or soy thing helped too.

youngmomofone replied: Ugh poor baby. Maybe now your dh will see that there is something up and that you aren't being "difficult."

grapfruit replied:
Pretty sure she did that for 5 weeks or something. Didn't help a bit sad.gif sad.gif

PrairieMom replied:
yeah, I was off dairy for 5 weeks. I didn't cut out soy, but I wasn't eating gobs of it or anything. I don't eat much processed foods. the butter I was using was soy based tho. dry.gif
I am thinking possibly gluten now. sad.gif Gluten will be way harder for me than dairy, just because of the way we eat. I am going to try it for a few days tho. Tomorrow is grocery day, I will stock up on stuff I can eat.

coasterqueen replied: I may be mistaken but I thought when you do an elimination diet you have to give up dairy for 3 months and some times if a baby is allergic to dairy they can be allergic to soy. I'll have to see if I can find my links on that. Also, did you eliminate ALL dairy protein from your diet? Not just the obvious milk, cheese, etc? I'm not saying that it's the issue though. I went ALL dairy protein free when nursing with Megan and it didn't do squat, she still didn't gain and she still poltergeist puked all the time. rolleyes.gif ETA: Now if I would have eliminated things that had yellow dye and cottonseed oil in it, I do believe Megan might not have puked and may have gained more, who knows, with those things being her allergies now, and I didn't know that then and I'm sure I ate foods with the allergens in it. Of course at age 5 we still have the problem, but I think her lactase deficiency is more the culprit now.

PrairieMom replied:
yup, ALL dairy protein, I was told 5 weeks by my Ped. It really didn't seem to be helping tho.
I hear what you are saying about the elimination. There is no way I can possibly eliminate all possible allergens and still eat. rolleyes.gif I think allergy testing would be very helpful.

Here's a question. do you have to have special testing done for the strange stuff like food coloring and what not? or is it included with the regular corn, peanut, regular food type testing?

coasterqueen replied:
They did a full panel of allergens on Megan. They asked us a bunch of questions as to what she ate and went from there to decide what groups to test. It's not a pleasant test, I will say that and not sure if they will do it on infants. Megan definitely remembers how painful it was (for 20 minutes) and she's getting ready to go back and hopefully get a more extensive testing done which will take longer? I think the more extensive it gets the longer it is. dry.gif
