tersie wrote: Is it possible to get pregnant while you are on your period? I had sex with my bf 3 times in the past 2 days..he did pull out but i was just wondering if its possible?
someone told me that it could be possible and if you did get pregnant your period would just stop. is this correct? thanks.

PrairieMom replied: huh.gif rolleyes.gif There are links on human reproduction out there that would answer this for you.
No. If you Do the deed when you are on your preiod you will not get PG.

PrairieMom replied: Here.
This was on wikipedia.

Fertile window

The most fertile period (the time with the highest likelihood of pregnancy resulting from sexual intercourse) covers the time from some 5 days before until 1–2 days after ovulation.[21] In an average 28 day cycle with a 14-day luteal phase, this corresponds to the second and the beginning of the third week. However, few cycles are exactly average. A variety of methods have been developed to help individual women estimate the relatively fertile and the relatively infertile days in the cycle: these systems are called fertility awareness.

Fertility awareness methods that rely on cycle length records alone are called calendar-based methods.[22] Methods that require observation of one or more of the three primary fertility signs (basal body temperature, cervical mucus, and cervical position)[23] are known as symptoms-based methods.[22] Urine test kits are available that detect the LH surge that occurs 24 to 36 hours before ovulation; these are known as ovulation predictor kits (OPKs).[24] Computerized devices that interpret basal body temperatures, urinary test results, or changes in saliva are called fertility monitors.

A woman's fertility is also affected by her age.[25] As a woman's total egg supply is formed in fetal life,[26] to be ovulated decades later, it has been suggested that this long lifetime may make the chromatin of eggs more vulnerable to division problems, breakage, and mutation than the chromatin of sperm, which are produced continuously during a man's reproductive life.

tersie replied: This might sound dumb but ive had unprotected sex soooooooo many times in the past and haven never gotten pregnant. Im thinking maybe its cuz i ovulate while i have my period..and thats why i have never become preg its because i dont have sex while im on my period. is this possible?

PrairieMom replied: no

A&A'smommy replied: to find out more about your body and yourself go to www.google.com and type in "getting pregnant" or "a woman's anatomy" or "a woman's cycle" "when to get pregnant" or if you REALLY want to get pregnant go to walmart go to the section where the pregnancy tests are and buy an ovulation kit.

A&A'smommy replied: how old are you?

tersie replied: do the ovulation tests really work and how accurate are they really?

A&A'smommy replied:
I got pregnant the first month I used them

Crystalina replied:
I'm not trying to be rude but you sound really young. Haven't they talked about all this in health class? I know that either way people still have many questions, which is why we all come here, but no...you cannot get pregnant while you are having your period. It's not possible no matter how often you try it or ask. happy.gif

And yes, ovulation kits work if you follow the directions. It took me only one month to get pg this last time thanks to an O kit. smile.gif

wcs40110 replied: Idea.... I read back like 20 posts and SERIOUSLY knock it out. USE A CONDOM. You can get them free at tons of places. Don't let a kid come into this world under crappy circumstances, there is enough of that out there already. If he's pulling out he don't want a kid. Ya'll both need to get your heads straight.

jcc64 replied: I think it is theoretically possible to get pg while menstruating, but highly unlikely. Still, the only foolproof way to avoid pg is abstinence. Beyond that, it's whatever birth control method works best for you, but none are 100%. The odds are determined greatly by how responsibly you use them. Don't take stupid chances--lives literally hang in the balance.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: I also posted this in your other thread.

If you're trying to avoid pregnancy, then probably using methods of protection would be in order. Seems like a simple solution. If you're trying to get pregnant, then maybe you could ask your doctor to explain the birds and the bees and how they work in order to get the stork working.
