pre op and last ob appt

giffmom replied: With this one it has been harder, because if I wanted I probably could have been in labor because at 34 weeks I was already having contractions when I was really active and I was already dilated and cervix was already thinned. So I think that if I was having this baby natural I could have already put myself in labor, but with the scheduled csection I want to wait until the scheduled date because everything is already planned DH vacation, my moms vacation. I guess it is all about the same. Either way the pregnant woman is always anxious at the end.

pinniy replied: I don't know about everyone else, but I always seem to find out REAL early. Both times, the blood work came back inconclusive the first test, and then I have to go back 72 hours later, and of course they come back positive. So, by the time I hit my 3rd trimester, and the baby starts to push on the bladder and the lungs at the same time, I'm ready for the pregnancy to be over with...

giffmom replied: I am back from my appt and pre op everything went fine. My ob says that the baby is probably weighs around 8 to 8 and 1/2 lbs. My stomach measures 44 weeks. I can't wait I am so excited.

I bet your excited to finally hold the wee one.

giffmom replied: I had an emergency c-section with my 1st child and my ob will not let you do a vaginal birth after c-section because it is to big of a risk they are not equipped for what could happen. They gave me the option to go to another dr about an hour away from where I live and I didn't want to do that I wanted to stay with the ob that I am fimiliar with and trust. The risk is that when you are in labor your uterus can bust from the previous csection and they only have 5 min to get the baby out and you taken care of before it is fatal to you and baby. That was the way that the dr explained it to me.

Kaitlin'smom replied: okay, thanks for answering. what happens if you go into labor before the scheduled date? I am honestly supprised they would make you wait the full 40 weeks then. Were you early or later with the last one? (sorry if this was answered before)
