They are SO tiny! I can tell by the Tendergrips on their cheeks. (those round stickers on their cheeks.) which are, I suppose about the size of a quarter.

you should take a picture with something like a stuffed animal or something for reference.

In our ICN they are always taking pictures of their babies next to coke cans or wedding rings. isn't it just amazing?

Mommy2BAK replied: Thanks everyone! To answer Jennifer's question about them being identical.... we were told my one doctor during my pregnancy that they were "definately fraternal" but after they were born the NICU doctor kept saying he thought they were identical so they did a placenta study and found out that they are in fact IDENTICAL! We were so excited (although we don't really know why it even matters).

Do they know for a fact that they'll have to stay the full 5 weeks, or is there a possibility of them coming home sooner, depending on how they do?

I have a friend who has identical twins, who don't look the same. One's head is obviously thinner than the other, and there are some other things too.

Identical twins are somewhat more fun in that they are genetically the same so the bond between them is much stronger. Not to say anything bad about fraternal twins, they are great too but developmental psychology studies found that the bond between fraternal twins is no different than any bond between siblings whereas identical twins have a stronger bond. When you said that one kicked the other in the face (in utero), I suspected they'd be identical because I imagine that would be easiest to do if you share a sac.

Mommy2BAK replied: Addison actually gained her first ounce yesterday, which I am so thankful for! I am pumping and they are getting my milk through a feeding tube but they still don't eat all that much. Avery eats 10cc's and Addison eats 12cc's every 3 hours(but that was as of this morning, so they probably up'ed them a little bit since then). But anyways, they both weigh in the 3lb range right now because they loose somewhere around 100 grams a day but I guess that was to be expected. We hope by the two week mark that they will both be back to their birth weights at least.

I agree you should take a pic of them next to a stuffed animal or something. And that's VERY cool that they're identical after all! That will be so much fun.

I also would like to see them next to a coke bottle. I had a friend that did that and the wedding rings around the wrists also.

Did you end up with a C-section, or did the fact that none of your doctors were there change the scenario?

I actually ended up having an emergency c-section... it was a nightmare, I will post a birthstory when I have a little bit of time, but Larry was at work (he works nights) 45 minutes away from the hospital and my mom was staying the night with me in the hospital, I was already having the urge to start pushing and they strapped my legs together down to the operating table and my arms were strapped down, I was still in my own gown from home and bra and the anestiologist stood over me and put me to sleep, next thing I knew I was in recovery and they were opening the door to let my husband in, he was such a glorious sight to see after all I had been through.
