personal shopper

ediep wrote: Yesterday my mom, sister, Emma, and I went ot the mall and had a personal shopper help me pick out some clothes for a few upcoming events and just to hang out in. For the last 7 weeks, all I have been wearing is jogging suits because that is all that fits. I have Emma's baptism in 2 weeks and a party in 3 weeks that I can't wear sweats to.

I have been telling my mom for months how cool the show What not to wear is....... so she watched a few episodes and called me and said "we sould do that" . I said sure. She called Macys and Nordstrums but they couldn't give us an appointment with their shopper until next week. We decided on Ann Taylor Loft and my mom called and made an appointment with the sales girl. It was sooooooooo awesome! I completely reccommend this to anyone and everyone. She gave us her undivided help for at least 2 hours. I told her that we have my baby's christening and a casual party that I want to look cute for....and my clothes don't fit because I just had a baby. She reserved a large dressing room for us, She determined my size now and brought me dresses, pants, tops, sweaters, shoes, jeans, she put together outfits and best of all she gave me honest opinions on what looks good. She even tried to bring me sale items when I told her some things were too expensive.

I got 2 pairs of shoes, 2 pairs of casual pants for shopping and play dates, a pair of jeans, a skirt and blouse for the christening, a dress for a dinner party we have coming up, a cute pair of goucho jeans and a black top with shimmery trim for another party we have in a few weeks.

I would have never tried on goucho jeans because I figured they wouldn't be flattering, but they looked really cute.

ANyway, next time you have to buy a few things for yourself..... call ahead and see if you can make an appointment.... it was free and the best thing I ever did

I liked her so much that I may send her a thanks you card and a small gift card or cash because she was so so so helpful

Kaitlin'smom replied: Sounds like fun. I would love to do that....maybe once I get some of the weight off I will treat myself to that.

I have no sense of fashion, so maybe I'll look into it. I need all the help I can get. biggrin.gif

Cece00 replied: I've never thought to do that but I might have to try it...I could use some help in that area, too!

coasterqueen replied: How cool. I always thought those services were not free. I don't shop those places normally because of price, but when I go on my shopping spree this summer I might check that out. thumb.gif

Glad you enjoyed it. smile.gif

lisar replied: I would love to try it. Just to have someone to go and get me things so that I dont have to keep running after them. biggrin.gif

msoulz replied: That is a great idea for the less fashion-aware as myself. And i live right by a fancy-pants mall that has Nordstrom, Neimen Marcus (sp?) and other stores which I normally don't venture into. Thanks!! thumb.gif

sparkys2boys replied: That's great!! It sounds very fun too, to be pampered for a few hours!! I think the thank you card would mean alot to the lady that helped you. I bet not many people ever do that!!

CantWait replied: Sounds awesome. Glad you were able to find so much. Make sure to take lots of pictures at the Christianing and the party. thumb.gif

ediep replied:
I think they'll do it at most stores....Ann Taylor isn't really expensive, but I'll bet they'll make a personal appointment at Lord and Taylor, The Gap, Express, Limited, NY&Co, even JC Penney or wherever you shop

but definately call ahead and make an appointment wherever you normally shop. Tell them what type of things you like and your size, it is sooo worth it!!

C&K*s Mommie replied: iagree.gif

Thanks for the info. Sounds like a great service they provide.

coasterqueen replied:
I shop JCP. I'll have to call and check it out. Thanks. thumb.gif
