J-rod replied: well thats good. i like them all but one....but we not debating....
however....are there still canadian soldiers over there? i thought they all pulled out?
lisar replied: I am not going to give my opinion on the war. ( I dont want a debate) But I do like this.
edited due to spelling error
Crystalina replied: Oh Rocky! That is so sweet and sad at the same time.
I don't agree with the war but I do support our troops and what they are doing 100%.
Thanks for that.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: Which one? not debating, jsut curious.
Yes, there are still canadian soldiers out there. My father lives in Petawawa (canadian base) and tells me that most of the canadian soldiers that are there currently are from his area. I guess it's their "turn to be on tour"...
But with the news yesterday saying that the troups will be ordered to gradually back down, who knows what will happen
J-rod replied: actually i recant that....i misread one of them.
my FIL emailed that to me last month....minus the canadian part.
Nina J replied: TFS. I'm against the war, but the soldiers from Canada, Britain, the US, Australia and all of the other countries involved are so brave to be doing what they are. I have enormous respect for them.]
J-rod replied: yep.... some people i know dont realize you can be against the war and support our troops.... i support our troops 10000000000%. godspeed soldiers.
TANNER'S MOM replied: I am tired of fighting and worrying about my loved ones there.. but I support them very much and I am very proud of them/ God Bless our soldiers.. this made me cry.
One of my close friends made it state side this week.. I will get to see him Dec 15th and I am so happy... I hope everyone gets to see someone they love who has been serving in Iraq..and when you do tell them Thank You from me..
C&K*s Mommie replied: Thanks for sharing that Rocky. It goes across country lines, American, Canadian, British... etc.
luvmykids replied: That one sums it up pretty well for me.
holley79 replied: I have that and the photos that go along with it.
Calimama replied: Aww that made me cry. My hubby doesnt talk much about Iraq or what he did there.
punkeemunkee'smom replied: Please tell him Thank You from my family!
TFS Rocky!
CantWait replied: Yes and there are 2400 more from Base Gagetown where I am going over in February. We've certainly never pulled out, just a lot of talk by stupid politicians that want to pull out as soon as the going gets a little tough.
Calimama replied: Will do, thanks.
coasterqueen replied: ITA with you.
What has me puzzled about what I believe, is that I've read NUMEROUS writings/editorials from soliders who say you can't be against the war and support the troops. I can't remember exactly why they said that but I was shocked to hear it I guess.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: an analogy.... just because you don't approve or someone hitting someone else in the face with a punch, doesn't mean that the one who got punched didn't deserve it.
I can see how the soldiers would kinda get offended though - because to THEM, it's probably that if you're against the war, you're against them being there, therefore against what they're doing, what they stand for. Which isn't the case...well not for me anyways. I just don't like the fact that the troups have to be over there in order to help Iraq to fight a victory-less battle. There will ALWAYS be religious warfare...and no amount of fighting will ever change that...short of wiping out the entire population. Fighting begets fighting... and nothing will be solved without the lives of many taken. It will only get worse as the years go by, with the advances of technology, permitting the invention and construction of worse evils, which in turn will just come back to bite us in the butt... there will always be terrorism, violence etc... and it serves absolutely nothing, in my opinion, to keep having troups killed in order to "fight the war on terror", which is an oxymoron if I've ever seen one. Anyways... I don't want a debate... and I'm sorry if this offends anyone. I'm just trying to explain how I can be for the troups...but against the war.
Why can't we just go back to an age where weapons didn't really exist?
Kentuckychick replied: I disagree with a few of these and believe strongly in some of the others.
As an American I do not keep it a secret that I am very much against THIS current war. I have a freedom of speech and I choose to use it to say that I wish Bush were no longer President and that our country were in a better situation than it is right now... that is my right. What I don't understand is how everyone takes "anti-war" and makes it "anti-troops"
I, along with another co-worker told someone we worked with once that we were against the war in Iraq and she yelled at us... told us that perhaps we'd know how it felt if we had a family member or friend in the war. What she doesn't know is that each of us DO... I have several good friends and family members overseas and my co-workers cousin lost his life there... his father died in the Vietnam War. We aren't speaking from not knowing... our loved ones ARE there and we support them whole heartedly. That doesn't mean we have to AGREE with the war that they are fighting. It doesn't even mean that THEY have to agree with the war they are fighting. My brother's best friend has been to Iraq THREE times in 3 years, at 22 he's seen more war than many men twice his age and ya know what, after the first trip he didn't agree with what we're doing there anymore, but he has been back twice because it's his job, his duty and he's won medals and lost friends. He's seen people die and he's saved peoples lives and he has to live with everything he's seen. He choose to become a soldier but that doesn't mean he gets to choose the wars that he fights in. As an American soldier he is sent to whatever country he's sent to, to fight in whatever war our government gets us into... he doesn't get a choice in that.
So I would like to stop hearing people refer to those of us who are "anti-war" as being "anti-troops"... it's really annoying and uneducated to believe that just because we don't agree with what our government has gotten us into that we just wouldn't care what happened to our loved ones. If anything it makes me support them more!
coasterqueen replied: Thanks for your analogy Rocky. I see your point and I think you explained exactly how some of the soldiers I read materials from believe.
