ok, someone please tell me
cameragirl21 wrote: what i can have everyday for dessert (besides fruit) that will not be a diet killer. i've tried giving up sweets and it's just not working for me, i need a sweet that i can have with a glass of milk. i still, as a grownup, need to have milk with my dessert and if i don't have it each day i crave it like a lush craves vodka...seriously. i know it sounds idiotic and i'm sure i could do without if forced to but i'm hoping there's a better way. anyone have a yummy, not too high calories dessert that is safe for daily consumption? i eat fruit all the time as it is so fruit does not feel like dessert to me.
luvmykids replied: I'm not sure of the calorie count, but how about the whipped chocolate yogurts? I'm not much help, I make brownies almost every night after the kids go to bed
cameragirl21 replied: and you probably don't gain an ounce, right? after having 3 kids and all.... i think i'm suffering from metabolism envy....
PrairieMom replied: what about sugar free low cal yogurt? They make low sugar vanilla granola you can put in it. on my diet the sugar free yogurt is the best I can do for sweets.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: The weight watchers desserts in the frozen section are delicious!
redchief replied: Angel food cake and frozen yogurt?
kit_kats_mom replied: We have been having this a lot lately. It is fruit, but not so bad.
Bosc pears diced up and topped with chopped pecans, honey and plain fat free yogurt. Sprinkled with cinnamon. YUMMY
And my old standby from Weight Watchers
Graham cracker crumbs (available in a box, already crushed) with fat free yogurt mixed with fat free whipped topping. I also use pudding sometimes. The best is the thick and creamy lime yogurt from Yoplait...tastes like a key lime pie.
Our Lil' Family replied: That's what I eat for a sweet tooth.
A&A'smommy replied: In the freezer section of just about any grocery store they have weight watcher and blue bunny ice cream and it is WONDERFUL and it WONT blow your diet, also not lean cuisine but the red dinners that are weight watchers they have desserts that are yummy!!
HuskerMom replied: I buy these little fruit parfait things. I don't know what brand they are. You can get them at walmart. But they're like fruit and yogurt. The peach and apple ones are the best. I don't know how many calories they have though. Plus the apple ones have cinnamin too so it tastes like apple pie
cameragirl21 replied: thanks, girls, these are some great ideas. where do i get the low sugar vanilla graham cracker crumbs? where do i get regular graham cracker crumbs...same aisle as the cake mixes and stuff like that? am i the only one here who needs a daily dessert...?
kit_kats_mom replied: I've never seen the vanilla ones but I'm not a big fan of vanilla so I may have just missed it. Yes, graham cracker crumbs are typically near the pie stuff.
I am a sugar head too. I must have something sweet before bed. I usually have a bowl of cereal but I won't even let my DH watch me make it. It's shameful how much sugar I put on it. I'm like an addict though.
CantWait replied: There are lots of different yogarts available in dessert flavours. Pudding, Jello, in the bread isle we have oatmeal cookies and chocolate cookies that are low in fat etc... that contain omega3, granola bars. Frozen yogart, or Breyers makes new low fat, low sugar ice cream.
coasterqueen replied: The WW desserts are good BUT aren't good for you if you eat too many at once. That's always my problem with them.
luvmykids replied: I forgot, Slim Fast has these dessert bars that taste like Butterfingers.
cameragirl21 replied: oh yeah i love those but they are loaded with sugar and i think they probably should only be eaten if you're following the slim fast diet because their calorie and fat content are based on a comprehensive eating plan. same with WW...i LOVE their desserts but they're actually pretty high in calories and should probably only be eaten if you're on WW. at least in my case because WW doesn't let you eat much cheese and i love cheese. since i'm a vegetarian cheese is a good source of protein for me so i'm thinking that if i keep eating cheese then the WW desserts aren't good for me. idk if that made sense to anyone...what i mean to say is that WW desserts are meant to be part of a points system and i tried it but it didn't work for me because of the cheese i eat and i'm afraid that if i add the WW dessert while maintaining the other things i eat then the desserts won't be diet friendly....
coasterqueen replied: Actually Jennifer I'm a cheese FREAK and I did WW successfully. Just means you eat less than most people on WW get, that kinda stinks.
Kaitlin'smom replied: Persoally I like sugar free pudding cups, you could even add some light or free cool whip. they are only 60 calories and are so yummy.
cameragirl21 replied: Karen, do you mean to say that you eat less than most people because you're taking up many of the points in cheese? hmmmm, i wonder if i should just get the WW frozen dinners. i don't love them, kwim? plus i don't think eating frozen dinners twice a day is healthy. on the other hand, i see it works and it really couldn't be easier, could it? hmmmm, maybe i'll give it a shot, you've inspired me. are you on WW right now? i definitely think not eating meat puts me at a huge disadvantage because meat fills you up and that's why i'm always hungry.... obviously that is my choice so i need to get over that....
cameragirl21 replied: i'm planning to get those and maybe adding some granola so it has some chewy texture. i think i'll just get the low fat because my doc says it's better to eat a little sugar than splenda. idk, there is so much contradicting info out there, it's easier just to eat a little of whatever you want and hope it will be ok....
A&A'smommy replied: No your not!!!
coasterqueen replied: I'm not tracking my points anymore. I kinda know what I can have, what I can't have as much of, etc. I followed it strictly a few years ago when I lost 40 pounds doing it.
I assume I'm eating less than the person who LOVES veggies, who doesn't love cheese or sweets. So I'd say yes I was eating less. Course I have to say that I got 10 extra points for nursing at the time so that helped a little, but I also had a bigger appetite from nursing so I guess it all washes out in the end.
I know Terri (booey2) does a different form of WW than I did, she does Core. She could probably tell you more about it, but it might be just your style being a vegetarian You can eat as much as you want, I believe, on the Core list and then you'd use your additional points for cheese, desserts, etc.
cameragirl21 replied: oh yeah, that Core thing sounds good...does it work as well as the regular WW?
