ok, list your favorite - breed of dog
cameragirl21 wrote: mine is the german shepherd...that's what i had growing up and would love to have again. i also really like rottweilers, siberian huskies and golden retrievers. what's your favorite breed of dog?
J-rod replied: siberian husky
or alaskan malmute
amynicole21 replied: I love stocky dogs like english bulldogs, french bulldogs, pugs and boston terriers. My pooch is a boston
Calimama replied: Sled dogs... I don't know if thats the proper name though.
cameragirl21 replied: sled dogs are siberian huskies and possibly alaskan malamutes.
3xsthefun replied: Boxers, Doberman Pinschers, Great Danes and Miniature Pinschers.
gr33n3y3z replied: I grew up with German Shepherds all my life and would like to own one again
jcc64 replied: I have a real soft spot for pitbulls, whom I feel are vastly misunderstood as a breed. I love all big dogs-pound puppies especially. Don't think I'll ever own a purebred.
hoosier momma replied: Labs, preferably chocolate.
Old Mom Hubbard replied: Chocolate Labs AND Alaskan Huskies and Malamutes...all three top my list! Cannot own dogs where we live currently though- But when we HAVE owned dogs in the past we always had Labs. Plan on getting one when we get our own place in a year or so.
cameragirl21 replied: i like pitbulls too but they are illegal in miami-dade county. some people still own them though, you just have to register them in broward county (ft lauderdale) and find a ft lauderdale vet because most miami vets won't take them as clients unless they've had them since before the ban. pit bulls are very sweet, i've known quite a few, people teach them to be mean, they are not mean naturally. as for pound puppies, i love those too but seriously, i think there should be a law that requires people to neuter/spay unless they have a permit to breed. last night i was awakened by what sounded like a female cat getting some right outside my window and my first thought was, "i hope she doesn't come here with her kittens" because i feed some strays (that are pretty much mine now ) and i don't need kittens here and in all fairness, there shouldn't be kittens or puppies born in the streets. if you're not going to breed, for God's sake, get the animal fixed and i really think there should be a law requiring this and that some of our taxes should go to pay for free spay/neuter clinics because there are more animals out there than homes and more being born right this very second. poor things, they go around hungry and unloved.
MotherForever2043 replied: Yorkies!
DansMom replied: Labs, of any color. I'd go for a lab or lab mix over any other dog for sure. Labradors can speak to and understand humans better than any other breed, I'm convinced.
MoonMama replied: I'd have to say Peakapoo's because that is what we have.
C&K*s Mommie replied: After seeing a red & white boston terrier today in pics, I think that is my utmost favorite among all. Next to that are American Eskimo's (what Kaipo is), black & white bostons, labs, german sheps, and yorkies.
CantWait replied: Golden Lab, just cause that's what my puppy is. He truly is the best dog one can have, he's sweet, smart, loveable, and caring.
BAC'sMom replied: Blue Lacy
zdk753 replied: Bichon Frises.
PrairieMom replied: I like "Mutts" each one is unique. I would never buy a purebred. The dog I have now is boarder collie / ? black lab we thought for a while it was Boarder collie / new foundland mix. I'm glad that didn't turn out to be the case.
Jamison'smama replied: I loved my collie growing up. He was a wonderful, loyal and protective pet.
HuskerMom replied: I love dachshunds and great danes
Iluvmyboys replied: Border collie
MyBabeMaddie replied: I like German Shephards and Labs, we had both
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Right now I am totally enamored with Labradoodles
Boo&BugsMom replied: Beagles are my number one favorite dog! Second runner up would be dachshunds.
paradisemommy replied: neopolitan mastiffs
aspenblue1 replied: I am a husky lover. I also love GSD and Rhodesian Ridgebacks.
Kentuckychick replied: This is my opinion about the whole cat thing... I wish people would keep their "bleep" cats in their houses (not bitter or anything!) I just REALLY dislike cats and I can't stand other people's cats coming into my yard and killing the animals (chipmunks, birds and squirrels) that I feed everyday and personally love that take refuge there. We have at least 5 neighborhood cats that belong to people (not strays) that are ALWAYS out... why have a cat really? And they are constantly in our yard lurking, to the point where we now have a stock of nerf balls at the back door (so as not to hurt them ya know )
But really, if your dog gets lose or is out wandering around you have to pay an arm and a leg to free them from the pound while cats can just wander about... it makes no sense.
Anyway... sorry just ranting no offense if anyone has an outdoor cat... I'm sure you don't live near me!
My favorite dogs are Siberian Huskies (We had one growing up) and Great Danes.
cameragirl21 replied: why do you dislike cats so much? i could never understand why anyone would dislike cats, cats are very cute and sweet and cuddly and they purr when they're happy. my cat is a lot like a dog in that she follows me around all over the house, licks me, cuddles up to me, sleeps with me, etc. cats are great animals. i hate when the strays i feed catch birds though. i trained them not to do that.
Nina J replied: I like all dogs, except I don't think I could own a pit bull or a poodle, I've had bad experiences with both.
Kentuckychick replied: Lol... I see it like this... dogs tend to be a lot more lovable all the time then cats do. Cats are snobs They will turn their tail up at you any chance they get I really have never liked them.
For one I'm incredibly allergic, like my eyes swell shut and my face breaks out in hives so I can't cuddle 'em anyway, and again, there's that whole killing critter thing. I have no problem with indoor cats and cats that stick to their own yards I just can't understand why anyone would get an animal that is always outside and never seen. And many of these cats aren't friendly...
It's not just birds either, we have a lot of baby creatures during the fall and they just cower there waiting for 'em... I've had to literally whack a cat with a stick to get him to drop a chipmunk I knew wasn't dead yet (thankfully it lived)... I just hate that. It wouldn't be horrible if they weren't fed animals or if they were killing and eating them but no... the kill them, play with them, then lay them in our front yard or ick, on our freakin' porch
I just don't like an animal that constantly has to be killing something.
I'll take a dog... thanks
mom21kid2dogs replied: We love whatever "breed"(or not) God sends us. We've never paid a dime to a breeder for any dog we've ever owned~purebred or otherwise. Ours are always rescues.
paradisemommy replied: i'm another cat HATER..especially when we have chosen not to have any pets and i find cat crap in my yard constantly..more recently in my kids sand box..now i'm sorry but cat crap is so totally disgusting and dirty and really stink - if i wanted to deal with all that, i would go get a pet of my own..i second the motion for people having cats and making them keep them indoors..
MomToJade&Jordan replied: My breed is the basset hound. I've had a couple through my life and I just love their long faces and voices.
Kentuckychick replied: I love bassetts, my aunt and uncle have had three of them... so sweet (the can howl though!).
What I really want though is this dog...

He's huge, he drinks beer, he can track the bad guys (and the lost good guys) and he's famous...
This is my uncles bloodhound "Morse" he's a member of the Duck Police Dept. and I would steal him in a heartbeat. Although he's a pretty intimidating dog *he's actually larger now then he was in the photo* he's a sweetie.
I think he'd miss my uncle though.
Calimama replied: It's funny you say that because there is a dog out here that is constantly killing and catching squirrels. Any animal is able to kill, and honestly, in my opinion,if they are homeless and unfed than they are just following the food chain to survive.
MoonMama replied:
Kentuckychick replied: This is true, but most dogs are kept inside or at least in a fenced in backyard it gives the animals an "escape" persay... whereas a loose cat can just go anywhere. And dogs aren't usually very good about stalking their prey... the animal usually gets away easily. With cats they catch them much more frequently.
Also I did mention that if it's different if the cat's starving or hungry and killing the animal because it needs to eat... these ones aren't. They just kill them and then leave their remains in our yard or on our sidewalk/porch for me to clean up. It's irritating. It's hard explaining the continuous dead birds to a 5 year old. The only thing my dog ever killed was a snake.
It's not just the killing animals either... I really don't want someone else's animal in my yard period. I wouldn't allow my dog to roam free in other people's yards so I don't appreciate other people allowing their cats to do so. I think you'd be surprised how many "non-cat" owners feel exactly the same.
Calimama replied: Yeah, I hear you. I don't like animals using my yard as the town bathroom hot spot either. I don't have pets and don't particularly want to clean up after someone else's.
Jackie012007 replied: definitely the AFFENPINSCHER!!! I've owned bassets, german shepards, collies, shelties, lhasas, and my Affenpinscher is the best dog I have ever had!! Too bad they are so rare in America - thanks, Hitler . They are a german breed that was practically wiped out in America during WWII because people wouldn't import German breeds - others survived but the Affenpinscher for some reason didn't. I am happy to say they are now making a small comeback and an Affenpinscher even place 3rd at the AKC dog show this year!!
Ours was a rescue and I am so grateful to have found him!!! Affenpinschers are very protective and loyal and very entertaining and absolutely brilliant dogs - they are called the "Black Devil" or "monkey face" because Affe in german means ape. I love my little affe!!

My3LilMonkeys replied: I love golden retrievers, rottweilers, and pretty much any huge dog.
I've always loved basset hounds, too - they're so cute
Ours right now is an American Eskimo mix and I like them a lot too.
Crystalina replied: My first love was a Rott. Tequila was our baby and thought she was a lap dog. She could never get it through her big head that she was a huge animal. She died about two years ago at the age of 15. She had a long life but I refused to get another large dog. Tequila I could trust with my kids and by the time the kids came along she was an angel. I didn't want to have to train another large dog with the kids in the house so I vowed to get a smaller dog (which just for the record I know are just as mean but are more managable if need be. )
Then...the heavens rained Yorkies on me. Tequila would surely be rolling over in her grave if she knew that Yorkies were in the house. She was an angel but hated smaller dogs. Tequila is buried under her favorite tree in the front yard and Dillon (the yorkie) makes sure to lift his leg on that tree every morning. She'll get him in the afterlife.
So for me it's Yorkies and a love for Rotts but will never have another.
Crystalina replied: Jackie012007...Ahhhh! I just saw the pics of your pooch. Are those his bottom teeth? I'm not trying to be mean but that is surely a face only a mother could love. That pic with him under the covers...that would freak me out to wake up to him.
I'm sorry!!! I'm sure he's a lovely dog.
kristy-n-chad replied: I love Rotties. We had a purebred, and she was the sweetest thing ever. But then she got hit by a truck One day, when we have a house and big yard, I'd like to breed them.
cameragirl21 replied: Kristy, this is nothing against you but i couldn't pass up this opportunity to say that dogs (and cats for that matter) should NOT be allowed to run loose because they can get hit by cars and trucks. cats actually can be quite fast but too often dogs become road kill because they're not cut out to be so agile and quick as a cat. keep your pet dogs behind a fence unless you're outside with them. our german shepherd was never outside without us for a multitude of reasons, starting with the fact that he was prone to aggression and would be a tremendous danger to others if he were allowed to run loose, not to mention that he'd not want to be out without us but i trained him when i was a little kid not to run in the street...he loved playing fetch with a stick and i trained him by throwing the stick out into the street and he'd run right up to the edge of the yard but would not run into the street. when we moved to a new home i tested this because i figured this was a new place and a new street and that maybe he'd not realize the rules still stand so the first day we were moving in, i threw the stick out in the street for him and he didn't even run for it, just looked at me like, "why are you throwing it out there when you KNOW i can't go after it????" pets are pets and they should not be out and about without us...and most of them don't want to anyway, my cat would think i lost my mind if i just let her outside and closed the door behind her staying in the house while she was outside and she'd wail on the porch for me to let her back in or go out with her. i can't guarantee that she'll never be sick but i can guarantee that she'll never be roadkill.
lisar replied: I like Great Danes. I am gona get one when I get my property. I had one growing up.
I also like Black labs (I have one) And I like Jack Russells. Very hyper and active I have one
redplaydoh replied: I personally like the Heinz 57 breed... a little mix of 57 differenty types. If I had to pick a true breed I guess it would be a Golden Retriever, St. Bernard or German Shepard... I think the retrievers are beautiful, the shepards I've heard are loyal and the St. Bernards are just gorgeous.
Boo&BugsMom replied: I happen to be a huge cat lover, but I can totally understand the frustration with cats in your yard. Even though we have two cats, they are both strictly indoor cats. We use to have another cat, who happend to be VERY territorial. When we moved, our neigborhood happend to be infested with cats from a house on the corner who owned so many cats they let roam free in the CITY! Our orange tabby started spraying all over and we couldn't get him to stop and had to give him up eventually. It's because of the other dang cats from irresponsible people roaming around that we had to give our prescious animal away. I'm still mad about it!!!
Jackie012007 replied: LOL!!! It's okay, I get that a lot - and lots of people are automatically scared of him too because he looks mean because of the teeth - he's 10lbs of pure wimpiness!
Yeah, he has an undershot, it's part of the breed. This mother is in love with his ugly mug
