I am not a Bush hater nor a supported but I tell you right now I am really wondering what the heck is going on in his mind with some of his very poor statements. I am totaly shocked at the lack of orginazation in getting the peopel out, I am not talking about the resuse of thoes who thought they coudl ride it out but all thoes in the dome, I am sorry but someone needs to step up and get them out , they should NOT still be there in those conditions, its sickning. I am just so saddend by all this. I know I can donate but it will never feel like enough.
MomToMany replied: ITA with you Di! This should've been handled MUCH better than it is, and it frustrates me too seeing those people in those conditions.
TANNER'S MOM replied: Hugs to you .. I am feeling so sad too..
I am in shock!
luvbug00 replied: me too! I am soo angry because of all the starving children. I am prying more then I have in a long time. I really feel so desperate and feel very helpless.
MommyToAshley replied: I'll be the first to say that my heart goes out to everyone in NO, especially the children. I understand what you are saying...it's hard not to get upset and feel sad and angry when you see that situation. But, I try not to judge the ones trying to help... police, fire, doctors, volunteers have all left their families and safety to try to help others. The help and supplies are there, but how do you drive a semi through 12 feet of water??? They've worked day and night to get some sort of airport going, the astro dome had to be set up to take people in... all this takes time. It's not like a tornado or even when 9-11 happened that is limited to a small block or city, this took out a huge city with hundreds of thousands of people! Then there are those that are shooting at the ones trying to help... those are the people that I am angry with. The people looting for money, taking advantage of others in a time of need, and SHOOTING at the ones trying to help.... they're the ones I am so angry with and make me embarrassed. People ask where the police and National Guard are.... unfortunately, they have to deal with these people when they could be putting their efforts towards helping those that need it most.
Every time a bus pulls up, people swarm the bus. Where's the compassion... I understand that people are scared and suffering, but why not put the elderly and women with small children on the busses first. Nothing like this has ever happened before ... it's going to take time to get those people out. My heart goes out to them, but at least they are alive. What about all the thousands of people they expect to find dead?
My thoughts and prayers go out to all those people, and the greatest appreciation to those trying to help.

Here's part of the article I just read:
WASHINGTON - President Bush, facing blistering criticism for his administration's response to Hurricane Katrina, said Friday "the results are not acceptable" and pledged to bolster relief efforts with a personal trip to the Gulf Coast.
ADVERTISEMENT "We'll get on top of this situation," Bush said, "and we're going to help the people that need help."
He spoke on the White House grounds just boarding his presidential helicopter, Marine One, with Homeland Security Department secretary Michael Chertoff to tour the region. The department, which oversees the Federal Emergency Management Agency, has been accused of responding sluggishly to the deadly hurricane.
"There's a lot of aid surging toward those who've been affected. Millions of gallons of water. Millions of tons of food. We're making progress about pulling people out of the Superdome," the president said.
For the first time, however, he stopped defending his administration's response and criticized it. "A lot of people are working hard to help those who've been affected. The results are not acceptable," he said. "I'm heading down there right now."
Bush hoped that his tour of the hurricane-ravaged states would boost the spirits of increasingly desperate storm victims and their tired rescuers, and his visit was aimed at tamping down the ever-angrier criticism that he has engineered a too-little, too-late response.
TANNER'S MOM replied: I agree completely!
Rapes and Murdering.. ?? It is to out of control..
I feel for those doctors and nurses..everyone trying so hard w/ no relief.
They talk of the NO police officers walking off and quitting... I am sure they just want to lay there head down.. I am sure they want to close their eyes and think of a time before this.. I can't imagine seeing what they have seen..Thier families are where??? They are hungry and I am sure their bodies and minds are shutting down.
I watched TV and saw an almost lifeless baby.. and NO one giving the baby anything. Eldery , children and women... should be first to be helped? I don't understand the men here..RAPE?? They should be doing what men since the beginning of time has done..... take care of the women and children??
But I agree I do feel for everyone there.. We have a nursing shortage... and it is hard for them to leave and go.... and risk there life.
I know this sounds harsh.. I was glad that the Guards have went to no tolerance and shoot to kill.... I know it is awful to say.. but children are dying because these people have lost there minds.....we have to protect the children.. and relieft workers. Prayers for them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have to get some solace..

I just want to add that normally I'm a bush supporter you guys know that but right I'm a little disapointed in him I wish he would put some jeans on and some boots and get out there and HELP Those people not offer reassurance, I guess he can't though with all those people with guys there is more of a chance of him getting assinated I guess... anyway this is tearing me up inside!!
AshleyRose replied: If this happened in Washington DC, you BET YOUR HINEY that this situation would be better taken care of... its SOOO SICK how screwed up our government is . The government COULD help this people get out of there but they ARE NOT because this is happening to mostly lower class citizens.
Honestly, there is so much corrupt stuff going on right now it really scares me for what the future holds.....
MissyKay2005 replied: I think we all have to keep in mind that the media onlylets you see what they want you to see. What ever brings up the ratings! sad to say but it is true. There is alot going on that we don't see I am sure. All we can do is prayer for those that are in need.
Jamison'smama replied: Well unfortunately it is the poor that was less able to evacuate on their own--these people rely on public transportation, have no money for gas to leave or no where to stay if they did. That is many many who are there--NO has a large poor population and if it happened in Washington DC --it would look the same way, the upper classes would have evacuated to nearby hotels and the lower class would try to hold on to everything they had since it is unlikely that many had insurance to cover any kind of loss. I do the the government had time to prepare yet somehow were not prepared.
