she said she has a hernia in her tummy and that is why her navel sticks out in one spot sometimes apparently they do nothing to treat it and it heals on its own. anyone know more about this?? she didn't seem too concerned about it.

booey2 replied: Hi Kimberely, both boys had belly buttons that stuck out for a little while, we just kept watching them and gently pushing them in if they stuck out too far. They were really prominent when they got upset and screamed or cried. Take care and it should go back in by itself.

Jamison had an umbilical hernia--it was disturbing looking It is almost completely closed now when you push on it but she has an big-ol' outie belly button( I hope that means no belly shirts or navel piercings).

Megan got a umbilical hernia, but wasn't born with one. She screamed and projectile vomited so much w/her reflux that is what caused it. The gastro specialist assured me it would resolve itself and it did.

Nora's belly button stuck out for a few months. It's very common and will most certainly correct itself.

As everyone said, the belly button thing is normal. MIL told me that my SIL had it as a baby and their Dr. told them to tape a silver dollar over it to keep it in. That was 30+ years ago though so they probably don't do that anymore.

I haven't had experience with a child hernia, but I have a hernia...due to my pregnancy. My stomach grew so much that it caused the hernia. Which I have to have surgery on before I get pg again. But maybe it's different for infants.
