just checking in!
PrairieMom wrote: Hi y-all! I just wanted to let you know that things here are going good. Things are a little hectic adjusting to life with the new little one, so I probably won't be able to be on here are much for a while, but I will try to check in here and there when I have time.
We had a check up this morning, and ALexis is nearly back to her birth weight. She is nursing like a champ, unfortunately, I am not holding up so well. Even tho her latch looks real good, (or so say 3 lactation consultants) I am still REALLY sore when she latches on, and pretty sore through the whole thing. We have been working on a few different positions, so hopefully that will help some. Plus my milk came in with a vengance, and I am totally engorged already. After 2 hours it gets to the point where I wake up from the pain, and I can't raise my arm above my shoulder. I have been trying to pump a little just to relieve some of the pressure. Hopefully things will regulate a little.
I better run, I think its time for baby to belly up to the bar! -Tara

Thanks for the update. Glad things seem to be going well. Sorry again about your pain. Hope it lessens up soon for you! Good luck! We miss ya. Glad little missy is doing fine. Give her a kiss for us! Mwah!!
boyohboyohboy replied: HI glad to hear things are going well, hope that the BF goes better.
BAC'sMom replied: So glad to hear from you and thanks for the update on you and the girl.
luvmykids replied: Glad you've still got your sense of humor!
Glad she's doing well and hope BF gets better for you.
PrairieMom replied: I'll admit that it is really hard, but I am proud that I have already done better than i did with The Boy, and I am determined to try to make this work. Thankgoodness DH is very supportive!
CantWait replied: The pain will subside Tara. It took nearly 3 weeks before it did for me despite Anthony's latch. Hang in there, and thanks for letting us know how things are going.
ashtonsmama replied: Tara-so nice to hear an update hun. Just a word of advice/encouragement on BF, it WILL get easier, the first 6 weeks or so were REALLY hard with A, but I'm so glad I stuck with it. Just remember to try and get in lots of hot showers, and pump if you need to with all that new milk, and your body will regulate itself and settle into a more comfortable routine. I promise-I was so exhausted and in pain the first few weeks with Ashton, I was sure I wouldn't be able to do it, but the pain does subside after a few weeks, so good luck hun.
C&K*s Mommie replied: The pain will get better, as mentioned.
Glad she is finally here! I missed another post about her coming in to the world... So WELCOME baby Alexis!
Good to see you back around, we will be seeing you later, remember to take good care yourself, while you are taking good care of her.
KingMom replied: Tara - Glad to hear you are doing well. Just thinking in 2-3 more weeks, your milk will be better regulated and your nipples should not be as sore. It gets better each day, keep up the good work. I remember how hard it was and ended up pumping and bf'ing for a long time b/c the amount of milk I had made it unmanageable to just feed. Just keep it up and know that every day it will get a little easier...
I'm still thinking of you and your family
mammag replied: Like everyone else said, it does get better, I promise. It seemed like with each one I thought "it couldn't have been this bad with the others....but I'm sure it was. It lasted a few weeks for me. I remember sometimes it would be so bad I would catch my breath. I hope it gets better for you really soon!
I'm glad she is doing so well though. What a gift you are giving her.
lisar replied: We wil miss you. But I understand. I would want to get adjusted also and spend time with that lil baby. I hope the breastfeeding gets better for you.
na81 replied: I haven't been on here for almost a week, so I just wanted to say CONGRATS on the new baby girl!!! She is SO BEAUTIFUL!! Glad to hear that you all are doing well. Hope BFing gets easier for you- I know that I had a hard time with Taylor for the first couple of weeks, and was tempted to give up, but it DID get better!! Good luck!! Looking forward to hearing more from you! KUP when you get a chance!!
TheOaf66 replied: well good luck and just take it little by little
Halo42101 replied: Yesterday was the first time since last Friday I have been on the PC. We had problems with our computer. I was shocked to now just see you had your baby. Congratulations and best wishes to you & your family.
luvbug00 replied: Glad she is doing well!!
jaytrevjax replied: I had the same problems that you are having right now with all 3 of mine, to the point my husband had to FORCE me to BF. The toe curling (seriously) pain was so much!! My mom is a lactation specialist and with my last one suggested a nipple shield we got at the hospital. It's just a silicone shield shaped like a nipple you put over yourself when you BF, and it really worked for me. Maybe you could ask your dr. where you could get one, or maybe call the lactation specialist you've seen and see if they can get you one! Just keep it up hun, and congrats!
holley79 replied: Tara glad things are going well. I was really sore for the first two weeks. It will get better. Alexis is just so adorable. I love the one with The Boy holding The Girl.
