abunky wrote: ok , were i live in SC we have alligators , we have a pond /marsh in our area basicly in the back yard , that has 1 or 2 alligators in it , ok let me make this clear i do not allow my children to play out side alone or even near that area ,..well walking my dog today ther are 3 kids ages probley 5-8 no adults around , they are feeding this alligator , i'm thinking ot myself OMG! these things are very territorial and agressive , so i say to the kids , hey guys you might want to stay away from there these animals can be dangerous , on kid ran inside apparently telling his mother i was being mean , which i wasnt i was concerned for there safety she approches me ,i told he what was going on she goes " oh its ok we feed it all the time" i didnt say anything i just walked away bothered by that...i get so ticked off that people think theses animals are cute , but in all reality there not , this thing will eventualy stop hunting on its own and rely on people to feed and mind you it will get bigger its only like 4 feet now , then what happens then thing thing evenualy attacks someone...there is a reason they have a sign that say " no feeding or harrassing the alligators " as a mother i would be deaply concerned about my kids playing with an alligator ....i wil get pics of it later wheni go back out ot show you girls
luvbug00 replied: idiot, watch that alligator will be very hungry at one point and eat those poor kids.
grapfruit replied: See now, you're nicer then I would be. I would of SAID all that to the lady. Because you know what, HER kids aren't just putting themselves at risk, but the ENTIRE community. Who's to say that alligator might not attack YOUR kids, who don't play down there. You're right, there IS a reason there are signs telling people NOT to feed them. Which I would of pointed out to her...
mckayleesmom replied: Those are the same parents that act suprised when their kids get eaten.....
A&A'smommy replied: UMMM that woman is insane!!!!!
kit_kats_mom replied: Here in FL it is illegal to feed gators. They come to see humans as a food source and lose thier fear of humans. That's when they are really dangerous. Add to that, the fact that we are nearing mating season, when the gators all go a little wonky in the head, and they are basically training that gator to attack people. Or, if it doesn't attack people, it will surely become a menace and need to be killed. It's not a freaking pet. Geez
I'd check with your states wildlife authorities and report the family. Get them on video doing it if you can.
My2Beauties replied: Stupid idiotic people, there is no way I would ever come within 100 feet of an alligator unless he was behind glass at a zoo
HuskerMom replied: Wow
amynicole21 replied: Yea, call the Fish and Wildlife commission - I'm pretty sure it's against the law in most places, not just FL.
hippogirl replied: That's why I like it that we moved to the pacific NW...no more snake or gators.
abunky replied: that a good idea , thanks
MoonMama replied: I agree call the wildlife dept ASAP.
