infection TMI - please NO guys read this!!

A&A'smommy wrote: I get terribly embarressed by things like this but I was wondering I DON'T get yeast infections often and I was wondering for those of you who don't if you ever have a reason for it. THe first time I got one I had just started being sexually active again, second time pregnancy and now I'm not sure if it was from something I did (like bathroom problems) or what... Its probably nothing and I"m probably just aggravating myself for no reason BUT I don't want to take chances I still haven't gotten my period and I have had a shot in almost 4 months so I was wondering for those of you who went off the shot (I am thinking about Kellie, teagansmommy and there might be a few others) how long did it take you to get one back? I need to go to the doc next month and get new bc YAY I don't have to go to the health department anymore!!

mckayleesmom replied: I only got them in the past when I was sexually active with people that I made wear condoms. Which was everyone but my husband. Do you guys use condoms? That might be irritating your skin and can have the same type of symptoms as a yeast infection too.

kit_kats_mom replied: thumb.gif yep, could be a minor latex allergy.

NummyMommy replied: I heard that too....and that you can be allergic to the spermacide...my friend had to get certain types of condoms w/ no spermacide. She also gets them if she wears a swimsuit for too long or if she smokes (have no idea why/how that works)

ediep replied: I have gotten several and it isn't necessarily from something thst you did. I would get a yeast infection if I was very stressed, taking antibiotics, or sometimes for no reason at all. Try the over the counter 3-day producrs like monastat or something like that. It should help right away, if not cally our doc because you may need a prescription

mckayleesmom replied: Jessyanne....I wrote something for you in P and I that pertains to this post.

A&A'smommy replied: We haven't been sexually active and we don't use condoms (he refuses!!)

Brianne I'm going to check!

MommyToAshley replied: I don't think anything in particular causes them, like Edie said. But, I did hear that if you eat yogurt, it can help prevent getting them.

A&A'smommy replied:
YEs lol my mom told me to eat yogurt when I told her about it! I didn't start thinking that maybe it was caused by something until I told her I had one she kinda looked at my like WHY...so I started thinking hmmm I wonder why, what did I do to myself. Anyway I think it might have a little idea why I do have one... but its possible there is no real reason rolleyes.gif I ask silly question!

~Roo'sMama~ replied:
Hmm that's interesting because I used to be constantly getting yeast infections (I thought) but I've only had one since we got pg and stopped using condoms and that was the one I just got from being on an antibiotic. I wonder if the condoms were causing it? Weird. blink.gif

Mommy2BAK replied: I am not sure what the causes are but I know they hurt! I had one while I was PG! OUCH! ohmy.gif

DansMom replied: Oh, I hate yeast infections. It's true that stress and diet can sometimes cause them, or tight, non-cotton clothing like pantyhose.
