J-rod wrote: well i just got an email from a company i sent a resume to last month. they want to set up an interview. it is doing the exact same thing i do right now (only using a different version of AutoCAD)

i would try to get more money from them...

BUT they have the following benefits

however if i leave i wont have the opportunity to get reimbursed to become a professional surveyor.

thoughts?

i would also loose my beach vacation and possibly my trip to florida to see the red sox.

TheOaf66 replied: hmmm that is a toughie, how do these benefits compare to what you have now besides the reimbursement? Those benefits look pretty good.

mckayleesmom replied: I don't know....the benifits sound awesome.....Would you be out a whole lot of money if you are not reimbursed?

First thing is first though.....go to the interview and see if they offer you the job....then decide from there.

Our Lil' Family replied: Can you interview, let them offer and then tell your current employer and see if they'll match?

J-rod replied: well current job has nothing for benfits or insurance.

it would be a few thousand dollars to become a licensed surveyor...if i wish to continue

i know im getting ahead of myself cause i dont even have a job offer....im just a very excitable person.

mckayleesmom replied:
How much longer do you have before you finish the surveryor program? I ask because if it isn't long....I would stick to what you are doing now.....because Surveyors make mad cash......

You could always apply again at a later date or even get a job somewhere else with benefits and survey on your own on the side once you are licenced. My mom had an ex boyfriend that did that and he only worked outside surveying for the insurance.

J-rod replied: i havent started the program yet.....because he just brought up helping pay for it at the end of the year.

and now he just came down and mentioned to me helping a new guy. they going to hire a new person and he wants me to be able to do the survey cad work from start to finish (which i can) and kinda supervise the new guy and have them do all the CAD work....you know the basic stuff and corrections.

mckayleesmom replied: Can you tell him that you changed your mind and would like your money back? I don't see why you can't be reimbursed if you haven't even started yet. You could always tell him that financial situations in your home have changed and you can't afford to do the classes right now.

J-rod replied:
maybe ive confused you in my haze. lol

i havent started it, i havent paid anything yet, he mentioned paying for my tuition when i start.

mckayleesmom replied:
Then you are actually not out any money.....So I would take the new job... laugh.gif

TheOaf66 replied: well the benefits and insurance for me would far outweigh the reimbursement factor...especially when you have a family to think about so if it were me I would go with the new one if you get the offer.

CantWait replied:
Ditto. Good Luck.

Hillbilly Housewife replied: Ditto - especially in light of your recent post... wink.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied:
The long term benefits you could have outweigh the immediate but not everlasting ones you have now, IMHO. Is it's a couple thousand dollars to do what you need to become a professional surveyor, the increase in pay may pay for it in the long run. wink.gif I know how you feel. I'm always getting ahead o fmyself, but it's good to have a plan in your head.

grapfruit replied: Well I wish you good luck in whatever decision you make. smile.gif

BTW; I know I'm so blond. But I didn't understand your topic title.... blink.gif
