GavinsMommy wrote: i hate this..dh and i just heard a gun shot and we KNOW what they sound like and it was very very close...
0-10andbackagain replied: OMG!
mammag replied: Oh no! Did you call the police? I probably would if I were you....
I hope that's not what it was but it is a pretty unmistakable sound.
Be safe!
JessC replied: OMG, be careful thats all I gotta say. Do you live in a bad area?
Maybe it was just an accident?
GavinsMommy replied: it is...but we own one and go shooting and i used to go hunting with my gpa when i was little...
atlanta is so dangerous...3rd in the nation
GavinsMommy replied: no...we live in a very rich area, but unfortunately wherever there are apt complexes there is always crime. i refuse to swim in the pool here bc someone was found murdered in it not too long ago.
PascosGirl replied: Ewwwwwwwww!
Someone firing a gun in Atlanta is never an accident. The only accident that comes with that is they may accidentally hit an innocent person when they do a drive by.
I was in Burger King once in Atlanta and a guy came in bleeding all over himself. He was in line and the lady said, sir, we can't serve you, you need to go to the hospital. He said, I just want a whopper lady, this is the 3rd time this year I have been shot. lol I was like, let's go! NOW!
iluvmysweetiepies replied: OMG how scary! Did you call the police? Be careful.
Kirstenmumof3 replied: OMG that is so sad! Be Safe!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Please don't tell me this!!! I'm going to be in Atlanta in 2 weeks!!! I will be in Buckhead, though. Hopefully it is a little safer around there.
MyBlueEyedBabies replied: Scary. I was on the phone with dh one night while he was working (he's a police dispatcher) I heard a gun shot and was the first person to report it. It was an officer involved shooting but Dispatch already knew and was getting more officers out before the guy could tell them something had happened.
0-10andbackagain replied: OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
kimberley replied: omg how scary. i am glad you are all safe.
0-10andbackagain replied: Remind never to go to atlanta!
GavinsMommy replied: Buckhead is nice. That is where Jerimiah used to live. But...........it's very close to downtown and unfortunately, the closer you are, the worse off you are. You should be fine though, depending on which part of Buckhead you're in. Just don't honk at anyone
GavinsMommy replied: That's horrible, but I fully believe it! LOL....people FOLLOW me all the time....it is so scary. And yes, they are FOLLOWING me. LOL. Too bad they don't know I have a Walther in my car
mammag replied:
I'd be careful announcing this. In Georgia you have to be 21 and have a CCW Permit to carry... just an fyi. Keep it in the car.
kit_kats_mom replied: maybe you should get a "gun toting mamma" bumper sticker.
All kidding aside, Atlanta is scary. My best friend went to college there & was carjacked twice and once had some guys follow her home and pull a gun on her at her front door. Luckily a neighbor pulled up & they jumped in their car with only her purse. I shudder to think what might have happened.
GavinsMommy replied: it's only when DH is in the car
GavinsMommy replied: course you know...most of the time they never follow me when DH is in the car
they still better watch out though, i'll run them over! LOL
GavinsMommy replied: I'm just waiting for something like that to happen to me...that's why I don't leave the house, lmao!
coasterqueen replied: I agree Atlanta is dangerous! We visited there one time and was just walking down town and ended up in a very bad neighborhood. Someone came up to us and said "uh, I don't think you want to be in these parts, you should probably leave". We found the nearest way out QUICKLY. Later that night when we got back to our hotel room there was a news report of all these women being raped while at a Black Rights Fest.....uh the same area we had been walking in just a few hours before.
I would NEVER go to that area alone for sure or take my kids in that area for that matter.
My SIL lives in Alpharetta but I'm not sure how close that is to Atlanta and it's a gated community.
GavinsMommy replied: Alpharetta is right near Marietta. Very close, they run into each other. I'm in Marietta...Marietta is very nice, but like I said, wherever there are apts...there is bad news
Are you talking about an area near the airport??? I know when Jerimiah's dad came last month, we had to go to a hotel near the airport and I was literally about to pee my pants I was so scared. My heart was pounding so hard I could hear it and going VERY fast and I couldn't breathe. There were cops everywhere and hmmmmmm wonder why...bc Atlanta is soooooo scary!
Hillbilly Housewife replied: This post makes me SO GLAD we have controlled firearms here.....
gotta love Canada!
(I'm not flainmg anyone... just btw.... I just don't condone violence.
Guns don't kill people, people kill people...but guns allowed to anyone and everyone is just stupid and asking for death.)
mammag replied: I'm not even going to touch this!! Man I could get heated with this discussion...
I'll only say guns aren't allowed to anyone and everyone here. I could give you many many statistics. I choose to protect myself and my family because ain't no cop going to be there when someone breaks in my house! You're really going to love me when I get my ccw and am packing heat everywhere I go! By not protecting yourself you're pretty much condoning violence because someone who is willing to rape or kill is not going to be paying attention to your gun laws.
Gotta Love the US of A!!!!!!!!!!
mammag replied: And FYI..... From one of your own...
Crime rate in Canada has increased in the last decade..... in the US, dropped.
GavinsMommy replied: wait....you have a gun too? confused here. i missed something. lol.
i absolutely LOVE owning a gun. of course, it's jerimiah's, but whatever i don't care what people say about it. everyone always says...yeah, but people that own guns get killed with their own guns. yeah okayyyyyyyyyy....well if it happens it happens. but honestly, what IDIOT is going to break into a house WITHOUT some type of weapon? usually it is a gun! so if they kill me with mine, at least i had a chance! i'd rather be SHOT than STABBED or BEATEN to death. at least most guns will kill you quick and fast! kwim???
i think it's actually necessary that i have a gun here in atlanta. there are too many crazy fools riding around and if anyone ever tries to get through that door, they are going to have a hard time people always say that you can't just shoot anyone who enters your home too. heck yeah i can! if someone is breaking into MY home trying to hurt ME if they are facing me i am going to shoot them! i might not kill them...shoot them in the leg or something, but by god i won't hesitate to protect my family! i'll go to jail for the rest of my life to stop an intruder that is trying to hurt us.
that's interesting about canada though. i can totally see crime rising there. there is a town here in GA where EVERY household has to have a gun. guess how much crime exists there? ZERO! lol!!!!!!!!!!! you aren't going to mess with someone when you know everyone has a gun
people that kill others and have guns most often got them illegally. and even if guns are outlawed, there will ALWAYS be the black market for them to get them. outlawing them will change nothing. they do background checks on people trying to get guns and though sometimes that isn't enough...if it wasn't them hurting someone with a gun, it would be something else like a knife.
gun crimes come from criminals who most often get them illegally and accidents due to being careless.
anyway i was agreeing with you
mammag replied: Gun?....Guns!! I figure, how long is it going to take the police to get to my house if someone is breaking in? How long does it take them to kill us? DH and I both shoot and are quite good, if I may say so myself.
ITA with everything you said....only one difference, if I shoot, I shoot to kill. I'm not taking any chances. This is a subject that I am quite knowledgable about and is right up there with abortion to me so I hate to go into it too much and offend anyone.
But yes, I do have guns.
This is just one of them....
Isabelita replied: That is scary!!! Keep safe won't you.
smullin replied: Scary ! When my husband and I first moved in our first apartment before we got married. We lived in these really nice apartments. Well across the street was these real bad apartments. They had a police department in the building complex area it had gotten so bad. I dont know why we lived in fancy apartments right next to them but we did. Well all our friends were over having drinks and talking and suddenly in the middle of the loud drunk friends we heard a shotgun go off. It was so scary. We called the police and let them know. They had already gotten calls by the time I called them. Turns out a guy had shot is wife. Scary !
Sarah 28 weeks six days Sammy is on the way and kicking !
MommyToAshley replied: How scary! Glad you are safe.
