so just yesterday, some woman puts a listing on Craig's List for 2 female Scotties...i call her and she has them and i tell her that i want to come up (she's an hour away) to see them because they weren't exactly what my GA wants--they were brindle (multicolored) and my GA wants black, they were females and my GA wants a male, they were nearly 6 months of age and my GA wants a small puppy, etc but it all seemed too good to be true because she was selling them very cheaply and i asked my GA, i mean this was a surprise but just casually i asked her if she'd like a brindle and she said that while she doesn't like that kind, she loves Scotties so much that she'd love to have one in any color.
well, i take off to go there today and had a bad feeling so i called the lady and she tells me they're already gone.
the thing is my GA's bday is in February and so is her mom's and my bday is a week from today so my plan was to tell her i want to fly up to her house for my bday and bring the puppy as a surprise and now there's no puppy.
and i've been calling around all day now and no one around here has one and i don't know what to do, i had my heart set on this, i'm willing to go to h*ll and back to get a Scottie puppy now!
if any of you out there know of anyone who breeds this type of dog, please let me know, i'll do anything right now to get one.
i'm just so miserable, i was so excited to get her this dog.

i'm wondering, though, how i would do this, i mean usually breeders will ship but it's idiotic to ship the puppy to Miami and then for me to take it on a plane up North to Chicago.

So i called about the puppies in SC but the lady has no computer and can't send me a pic so I can't buy a dog i haven't seen. plus, she said they're already 12 pounds which is bigger than what i wanted but if i could at least see them i'd be in a better position to choose one.
that puppy in Ohio is a female and my GA wants a male but that puppy is so unbearably cute that it really wouldn't matter...but they won't answer their phone on Sundays so i don't know if it's still available.
This Sugarcreek, Ohio place...do any of you OH residents live near there? i did some research and they say it's about 2h east of Columbus and that it's like Amish country sort of, like a village. Anyone live nearby and have any advice about the nearest airport, etc?
according to my research, it's about a 6.5h drive from Sugarcreek to Chicago which i think is way too long for a puppy who's not housebroken and who probably will need to eat more often than every 6h so i'm thinking i'll have to fly in somewhere near there, the closest airport and then get back on a plane to Chicago.
God, this is all so complicated but it will be so worth it if i can get the puppy she wants.

grapfruit replied: Jennifer, Sugarcreek is actually northeast of Columbus. And about 2 hours southwest of Cleveland. My guess it it's probably in the middle of nowhere.

Good news is there's no snow or ice to speak of around here!

MapQuest puts Port Columbus airport at 2 hours and 14 mins from Sugarcreek. Cleveland is 1 hour 47 mins away. Pittsburg is about as far away as Columbus, so Cleveland might be your best bet. Pretty much the nearest big "city" is probably Massillon (where the High School State football games are played )

Good little side trip for you: The old Mansfield prison (where Shawshank Redemption was shot) is only about an 1 hour and 1/2 away. Suppose to be haunted, and they give tours!
