how do you relax... - or take mommy time?
sparkys2boys wrote: OK, I never seem to take time to my-self other then when posting, and usually with a kid or two hanging off me. So, I was wondering what do you guys do for relaxation, or mommy time away from the kids? Is it a bubblebath with candles, a drink..??? I really think that I need to start looking after me a little bit more, the kids really aren't babies now and I need to take some time for me.
~Roo'sMama~ replied: My "me" time is usually on the computer, but I just steal quick minutes here and there and usually have Andrew hanging on me or wanting to get up and play with the keyboard. Sometimes on the weekends after Dh wakes up in the afternoon (he works friday and saturday overnights on top of his regular job) I have him keep an eye on Roo so that I can take a relaxing shower without having to rush because Andrew is either trying to climb in with me, or is crying on the other side of the baby gate in the bathroom door.
If I have a good book to read, I read while Andrew is napping instead of sleeping myself or cleaning.
BAC'sMom replied: "Me" time what is that?
I usually sit down and spend time on the computer, but that is in between cleaning, washing, cooking and tending to my rugrats.
my2monkeyboys replied: Honestly, in the afternoon around 3:00 or so, I'll send Will to his room for some quiet time and I just veg out for 30 minutes or so. He gets to relax a little, I get to relax a little.
redchief replied: I sleep. It's what's missing most in my life.
sparkys2boys replied: Oh Gosh.. I should have said daddy time too.. sorry guys.. tsk* tsk* on me!!!
flirtycuddle replied: After both kids are in bed I usually make myself a drink and sit and veg on the computer or watch a movie.
mom21kid2dogs replied: I was in a choir that met every Tuesday night. That was my "mommy's night out". I found that if I didn't set aside a designated day, date & time weekly I never really got any mommy alone time. I left the house every Tuesday night, even if it means going to the library or the grocery alone(if choir was cancelled or on hiatis). Now that O is in school, I get me time every day. Now I scrapbook 6 hours a month for mommy time out.
MoonMama replied: I have yet to master getting mommy time. I usually take a few when he is asleep though, like now.
AlexsPajamaMama replied: playing on myspace is my latest mommy time thing to do...I also like to crochet or read a good book. Lots of times when I do get a chance to sit down, like if alex does happen to take a nap in the afternoon, I manage to find something I think is more importan/productive to do:rolleyes: like housework
Calimama replied: I'm pretty lucky, as soon as my hubby gets home he takes Bella and lets me shower, take a nap, play on here, whatever else I want.
My3LilMonkeys replied: I get my real mommy time (read: mommy time that isn't interrupted by the kids who don't listen when we say don't bother mommy right now) in the mornings before they get up - everyone else in the house are late sleepers. I usually play on the computer, read, exercise, take my dog for a walk, or catch up on my TV.
JadensMama05 replied: I get my Mommy time after Jaden goes to bed. Garred usually works on music or plays poker online, sitting on the other side of the kitchen. We talk occassionally but for the most part, just chill in our own worlds. (I'm on a desk top and he's on a laptop, which he brings out here so that we aren't in completely different areas of the house). Usually I just come on here and see what everyone has had to say. I'm still working on my MySpace and that slide show that I promised like a week ago (still narrowing down pictures) but those aren't my main priority for my Mommy time.
Nina J replied: I like to sit back and plot how I could escape from my family..no, not really
DH is good at making sure I have a few hours to myself every so often, or else I tell him to watch the girls while I go out. I like going grocery shopping alone I read, go on the computer...depending on the weather I go outside and read, but Emily nearly always comes outside and sits near me, then she gets bored so she rolls on me
