A&A'smommy wrote: What kind does everyone have? Jeremiah and I really need something... and I have been looking around but I'm having trouble finding reliable companies that have "quotes" so if you don't mind me asking what kind do ya'll have? And how much do you pay a month?
mummy2girls replied: Im in canada so my responce probably wont help... I have jenna covered through the gov.. its called alberta child health benefit. its for families with low income. so she has 100 percent coverage for denatl ,ambulance, health, and eye doctors. I myself have blue cross coverage. I get 80 percent off of dental, medical and eye ...i pay 60 bucks a month for this...
dolfinrse replied: I really can't help you, my job offers health insurance for the whole family at now charge. I work for the county government. I wanted to suggest that when I wasn't working and Zack was a newborn, we were able to qualify for a program called "New Jersey Kid Care". It was a low cost, low income program. I think we were paying something like $60 for 3 months. It was offered through the State, so maybe try checking into the State programs.
Mom2Boyz replied: Up until Larry and I got married, Conner and I were both on Medicaid. But since Larry can get insurance for us where he works, we have to either get it there, or go without We are paying almost $300 a month for insurance for the 3 of us. I cannot believe how expensive it is!!!! We are going to be looking to see if we can find it cheaper somewhere else.
momof2girls replied: We have military ins, that we pay qtly about 150.00 ins is soooo expensive, its super sad, sooo many people cant afford it and if you or your family has to go to the hospital you will be in dept the rest of yourlives! Its really sad, I think everyone should have it...
I would suggest calling your local state to see if you would qualify for some type of less expensive insurance, your a sahm so maybe they can point you in the right direction!!!
good luck!
coasterqueen replied: I work for an insurance association so you'd think the insurance coverage they would offer would be great and cheap, NOPE.
So we get our insurance through DH's work. His company has a "self-funded" insurance plan, so the company has the option to chose what is covered, etc. I think for Kylie and I we pay like $60 or $100 a month. I have no clue because DH does the finances. We also get dental through him too.
Each state, I believe, has a program that is called Kid Care. It gives insurance for the child and sometimes the family if it's low income. It's a federal government funded thing, so I believe it's in every state.
3xsthefun replied: Maegan is on Medicaid, Kaitlynn was but I need get her on another program here called Chips.
My husband's insurance is expensive we can't really afford it so we don't have it.
We also need to try find something but haven't had any luck!
My2Beauties replied: I have insurance through my work, I too work at an insurance company boogabearzmom and our insurance sucks too! I pay about $90 a month for me and Hanna. We have $25 co-payment, and 90-10 co-insurance. Our co-pay for hospital is $125 a day! My old job had wonderful insurance. Weirdly enough it was through the company I work for now but they don't offer their associates HMO's which is what I had at my old job and I had no deductibles, only $20 co-pay, only $50 ER co-pay and no co-insurance! It was $200 a month and it covered DF and his daughter, they had domestic partnership insurance which was awesome! Try your local city and state programs.
Boys r us replied: We have Anthem(formerly TRIGON blue cross blue shield). We pay a ton for it..it's through my company but for our family of 4..I pay about $300 month and my company pays the rest of it.
Kaitlin'smom replied: try calling your agent who your car or renters is with some of them can offer health insurance, we do.
anyway ours is through DH work, and they keep changing it about 1 a year I am not toaly sure how much we pay but I believe its about $200-$250 a month with dental and vision....its not bad.
maestra replied: Get this guys- My insurance is free through the district I work for, but to cover dh and Jaci it would cost me...........drum roll please.....$330 a check! A check! That's because I don't get paid during the summer, but it's still a rip off! I think it averages to 600 a month when you factor in the summer months. I can't afford that, even with mine and dh's salaries together!
Dh and Jaci are covered though his work, and I also have life and dental through them (I need a lot of dental work still, so at least we have another policy to cover it), and he only pays $125 a month! But he does work for a hospital, and they have their own insurance since they can provide most of the costly services.
But to the point, even Arizona has kids care, which has a sliding scale component. Here you would contact DES (department of economic services) and make an appointment. You have to have proof of your salary and bills, but that's it. They might even cover you.
Private insurance is usually pretty expensive, and doesn't cover much, unless you have some kind of union affiliation (I can get insurance for dh and Jaci through the Arizona teachers union, but it's more $$$ than dh's work). Maybe Mommy 2 Ashley and some of our self employed people would know of some companies?
amynicole21 replied: We pay close to $350 a month I would be covered for free if it were just me, but family costs MUCH more. Our insurance now STINKS, too. It used to be great, but now I end up having to pay a lot more for deductibles and co-pays... grrrr! And Bush is supposed to be helping who's economy???
MommyToAshley replied: Does Jeremy get any kind of insurance through his work? If so, that might be the cheapest route to go. Have you checked to see if you qualify for anything from the gov't?
We are self-employed and insurance is outrageous. It would be around $800 for us to pay for it ourselves, and still have pretty high deductables. If you are in the same boat as we are, I would recommend going with a medical savings account and then just getting major medical to cover any hospitals stays. Any insurance agent/broker should be able to give you the details about medical savings accounts if your state allows them. The good thing is that at least the funds are pre-tax dollars (you don't pay income tax on it).
Good Luck -- Insurance premiums suck big time!
