hampsters, blech. - they are lucky to be alive!
ZandersMama wrote: Zander wanted me to "camp" in the living room with him last night, something we do every now and then, get our sleeping bags and make some popcorn Well I am lucky he asked last nite.
around 12, a loud bang woke us up. The hampsters have been jumping around like lunitics the last few days, now i know what they were doing. They were taking flying leaps at the door on the cage and managed to break off the latch. I woke to the hampsters jumping off the tv stand. So it took until 130 to find the little critters, then i had to haul out the new cage i got Zander for Christmas and put that together so they wouldnt get out again. These things are like kung fu hampsters or something.
So now, I need a new gift for Zander for Christmas and I am dead tired from being up all nite chasing hampsters.

Boo&BugsMom replied: I had a dwarf hamster that use to do the same thing, and a few pet rats that somehow figured out how to work the door on the cage. They are sneaky little suckers!
lisar replied: Raygens Rabbit would do that. It was an escape artist I swear. I would wake up in the morning with the darn thing in my bathroom. It always scared the mess out of me cause I live in the woods and with me just waking up, and seeing that thing.
luvbug00 replied: we sure don't give those vermin any credit and they escape every time!
sorry you had such a tough night
PrairieMom replied: Sorry, but that is one of those things you will look back on fondly...
ZandersMama replied: i already am, me and zan had a great night and fun today talking about it, but last nite i could have choked them good thing zan was awake when it happened
My3LilMonkeys replied: Our gerbils are in a cage with a wire mesh top and they jump at the top of the cage and hang from the wires trying to figure out how to get out...
Kentuckychick replied: My hamster used to do that very thing... they are definitely escape artists!
I'll never forget the night my younger bro was home from college visiting and he was sleeping on a mattress on the floor. He woke up in the middle of the night because he felt something brush against his face. He said his first thoughts were "Okay... I must seriously be drunk". The only reason he figured out what it was was because Tequila *my hamster* ended up walking across the keyboard on his laptop and making the screen turn on.
It was quite a funny night.
redchief replied: Our hamster is tiny so escape isn't really a worry with her. Consider lacing their water with booze?
Mommy2Isabella replied: Too funny, only because I can see these hampsters slamming themselves against the cage door and it rather comical!! Glad you caught them
ZandersMama replied: a sure sign he drank to much i dont even like touching the things, i have hand sanitizer next to the cage for when i have to . :the things we do for out kids
