good place to get kid room decorations?
MommytoKKC wrote: I am redoing the girls bedroom since they have insisted they have outgrown their little girl comforters. So we went to Target and they each got a matching bright pink comforter with polka dots on it. And down came all their princess decorations So now they want something more grown up. We looked at Target and Meijer but they just have room stickers for little kid themes or something like Wizards or Hannah. I don't want their room done in all one character. So where is a good place to find decorations for a kids room?
coasterqueen replied: Well, what are they wanting as a theme? That can make a difference. We are in the process of redoing Kylie's room. She wants a horse theme. So we painted one wall a dark brown color and the other three walls a light brown color. I've found horse pictures at hobby lobby and some horse knicknacks there. Some of the stuff I'm getting online, etc.
Hobby Lobby has LOTS of stuff to redo bedrooms, trinkets and such, if you have one around you. You can also get pics there and have them framed. The rest I'm ordering online, like her bedding which I can't find what I want anywhere.
Good luck!
Calimama replied: I really like Ikea!
bluebear replied: Are you looking for wall decals? Michaels has all their wall decals (Hip in a Hurry) on Clearance.
MommyToAshley replied: I didn't want Ashley to do her room in a character either, but she did the entire room for $35 when we got the entire set on sale at Meijers. I won't feel like I wasted money when she outgrows it because you normally can't even get a quilt for that price, let alone an entire room makeover with border and decals too.
I love Pottery Barn kids, but I don't buy stuff unless I catch it on clearance. I would check Meijers, Walmart, or maybe even amazon for discounted stuff.
grapfruit replied: You can also cut things out of fabric and soak it in liquid cornstarch. "Instant" wall decals! And when you want to take it down you use a warm wet sponge. Ikea does have cool stuff too
CantWait replied: Esty has amazing wall decals and phrases, easy to apply I hear as well. I'm getting a couple for Mia from there as well.
MommytoKKC replied: Thanks for the ideas. I forgot about Hobby Lobby. And we just got an Ikea about a year ago and I haven't been yet. I may have to take a trip to check it out. i hear it even has a babysitting service.
CantWait replied: Do you just put food colouring in when you want colour or could you do that? Would it stain after?
luvbug00 replied: ikea is heaven on earth!!! they do have childcare area. I LOVE that place!
now Casey, how would one make those starchy thingys??
grapfruit replied: I would think you should just use the color fabric you want on the wall. I've heard of people cutting out characters, or in your case lady bugs would be cute! We're doing circles, my sister in law has 48 blue ones cut out. I have to get her more freezer paper though (she's a SAHM right now, so she has a little more time then me).
So my big tip is iron on freezer paper first!!! It makes it WAY easier to cut!!!

I'll look for pictures
