freaked out!!
kimberley wrote: ok, so shortly after dh goes to work i notice a couple of cop cars outside. figured they are just chatting. in the next 30min, 4 more marked and one unmarked arrive. i am thinking that is kinda weird. then i see them pile 3 guys (maybe 16yo) into 2 cruisers and figure the excitement is over.. wrong!
about 20 min after that i notice 2 officers redirecting foot traffic to the other side of the street. offered the cop a coffee (seeing as he was in my driveway!) and got no info. then they block off the street with their cruisers with lights on and will not let any foot traffic thru. a while later, i notice 2 driveways away from me, there is a cop aiming a HUGE gun at a window!!!!!!! holy moley batman!!! this is still going on!!!!
i am keeping the kids away from the window but am totally freaked out that i am IN the "do not enter" zone!!! this is wayyyyy too close for comfort when i am home alone with 4 kids and no car!
amynicole21 replied: Can you call the police station to find out what's going on?
mom2my2cuties replied: I would suggest (as I have been in this situation before) that you call 911, explain that you live in the Do Not Enter Zone, and that you need to get them to get one of the officer's attention. You and your children need to be escorted to safety. Or I would leave out of the rear of your home, and go down the street or something or to the store or whatever.
ETA - Actually I wouldn't leave the house without the escort of an officer so you aren't "mistaken" for one of the bad guys. You guys need to get out of there ASAP though, that is NOT a safe place for kids. Just because you guys aren't near windows doesn't mean you are safe. I have seen more people killed because a bullet travled through a door or wall.
holley79 replied: I'm with everyone else. Call them and see waht is going on. Explain to them where you are located.
kimberley replied: i did. they said they cannot disclose that info. if i was in danger, they'd knock on the door... hmmm doesn't make me feel safe at all! i don't feel safe leaving with the 4 kids alone.

CantWait replied: Oh gosh Kimberly, I hope everyone is safe. I agree though. Get a police escort and get the h*ll out of there.
Calimama replied: How scary!!
grapfruit replied: yikes!
booey2 replied: WOW, not sure what to say, have you tried CP24 for any news they are pretty good if it is huge it will be there. Stay low and away from the front windows.
gr33n3y3z replied: just stay away from the windows and keep the kids low prayers that you all stay safe
PrairieMom replied: OMG! KUP!
Simplebeliever replied: Whoa. That's freaky. I hope you fill us in if / when you figure out what was going on.
I hope you and the kids are safe!
kimberley replied: nothing from CP24, Terri. called police again, said the same thing. and best to stay inside.
redchief replied: I hope the situation is safely resolved soon. I'll check in later - have to get ready for work.
cameragirl21 replied: yikes! i hope you and the kids are ok, Kimberley, and i think it's awful that the cops won't tell you what's up. p and pt headed your way.
kimberley replied: it's over. they got the guy alive.
from what i could gather from other neighbor's, the guy beat his gf near to death and holed up in his house. the detective had his sniper rifle out and there were 2 swat vans. i am seriously furious that there were so many weapons outside and not one bit of info from the police! i asked if he was being put away and they said, at least for tonight i wanna move!
Boys r us replied: Uhm yeah...THAT is scary!!!
Kirstenmumof3 replied: OMG I can't even imagine what you are feeling right now! I hope whatever is going on, ends soon!
C&K*s Mommie replied: I hope they can keep him longer than a single night for attempted murder.
P&PT's for your family.
PrairieMom replied: How scary! I hope they keep him a while too.
booey2 replied: Glad it is over, sorry they were not forthcoming with details. I would seriously look into moving if you can do it. I love your house inside but after reading this the neighbourhood sounds kindy sucky and scarey.

Terri
CantWait replied: Sorry Kimberly. It really does sound like a freak thing though. Nothing to do with the neighbourhood. Of course I don't know if this sort of thing happens a lot in your area.
One of the many reasons I don't want to move right back into the Toronto or surrounding area. It's gotten to bad the last few years.
Glad everyone is ok.
