food poll

cameragirl21 wrote: I'm noticing some of the shock factor over Tara's sudden switch to vegetarianism, which is obviously different from my switch to it because she brought her whole family on board whereas I was still pretty much a kid when I made the switch (much to my parents' chagrin).
To me it sounds a bit odd, all the shock and all but then I realized that my switch to vegetarianism really took an entire year...slowly phasing out various meat dishes till one day I woke up and decided that today was the day that I will stop eating meat altogether.
I must admit that while there were some meat dishes I enjoyed, I was never a huge meat eater and always preferred veggies anyway so it wasn't a tremendous sacrifice, although at first there were certain things I craved that I couldn't have and then I stopped craving them and today the very idea of eating them is beyond repulsive...simply put, it's a process and it doesn't happen overnight.
Just curious, what would be the hardest thing for you to give up? I only included unhealthy things because it would be pointless to give up fruits and veggies and whatnot so I included only a handful of things I could think of but if there is something you would have a harder time giving up that is not up there, feel free to share.
Mine would be chocolate and sweets...I definitely was cursed with a sweet tooth and while I also on occasion crave pizza and other junk food, I could readily go without those as long as I could still have a bit of chocolate for dessert after my salads. rolleyes.gif laugh.gif
As for beer, pretty much gave that up after college because I noticed that it was largely responsible for my freshman 15, er make that freshman 30. I do enjoy wine and vodka mixed drinks, though, among other things blush.gif but could give that up WAY before chocolate.
And you?

moped replied: The only thing on there that I could give up is alcohol.........IF I had to! laugh.gif

Everything else is very important to my daily intake!

coasterqueen replied: I haven't really seen shock from anyone huh.gif .

You'd have to give me a situation that I'd be least inclined to give up any of that. Otherwise...nope. tongue.gif If I had to choose it would be the alcohol, though, for sure.

cameragirl21 replied:
I didn't mean shock in a bad way, Karen, I just see how surprised everyone is over it. To me it seems odd because I've not eaten meat in over ten years now...it's kind of like people being shocked that someone gave up smoking if you've never been a smoker...it would seem odd to you.
I guess it's hard to believe anyone making a big deal out of not having/eating/doing something that you don't do so it holds no value to you, kwim, and you don't get what everyone's intrigue in someone else giving it up is.

moped replied: I am more shocked that Tara has given up TV during the day. rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif rolling_smile.gif

I wish I had half of her drive!

Not shocked that she vegetarian because it makes sense for her!

Now if she chose vegan I might be shocked! ohmy.gif

coasterqueen replied:
I was just saying I think people are intrigued/interested in it...not really shocked. I just thought the wording was confusing to me. happy.gif

cameragirl21 replied:
I'll go along with that.
When my godson was not behaving, I told his mom to take away his tv and she said, "well, you know who REALLY suffers for that, don't you?" rolleyes.gif wink.gif

HuskerMom replied: I chose pizza, I love most kinds of pasta, but I also don't think I could give up meat either. tongue.gif

luvmykids replied: I'd have to say alcohol, since I haven't had a drink of anything in I don't know how long laugh.gif

cameragirl21 replied:
the idea is--what would be hardest for you to give up, not easiest.
I wasn't sure how to word this right...when I first was writing it, I asked it as, "what would be hardest for you to give up" and then for some reason changed it to what would you be least likely to give up....for some reason, I couldn't find a good way to word it.
Mon, when it comes to sweets, you and I are kindred spirits...I'm pretty sure that you'd give up alchohol, steak, and pizza before you'd give up brownies. cool.gif laugh.gif

luvmykids replied:
my bad laugh.gif You're absolutely right, I'd be less than least inclined to give up sweets cool.gif

Calimama replied: Well I'm not a huge junk food eater.. or a big meat eater and I rarely drink. So I guess meat? I like chicken more than brownies and rum. rolleyes.gif rolling_smile.gif

My2Beauties replied: Mine was pizza and other non-sweet junk foods. I'm HUGE on pasta, my fav type of food is Italian. I could probably phase meat out, I don't have to eat a lot of it to be honest, I'd probably crave a steak now and again but I could do without it. I'm not a huge chocolate eater neither, never was really big on chocolate, now I can eat sweet candy like sweet tarts but would rather give that up than pasta! Alcohol is a tough one for me you guys know I work for a wine and spirits company right??? laugh.gif I could still give that up before pasta though! So I picked pizza and non-sweet foods.

cameragirl21 replied: looks like we chocoholics are few on this board...but we are beating out the lushes! laugh.gif

MommyToAshley replied: Mine wasn't up there.... but the closest was "pizza or other non sweet junk food"

I have a hard time giving up Pepsi (I drink way too much of it) and fresh bread. I love bread, especially fresh bread out of the oven, and we all know that too much of either of those is not good for the waisteline. I could probably do without any of the other things listed. I could live off salads, fruit, fresh bread and Pepsi! LOL!

cameragirl21 replied: And I could live off of salads, fresh fruit, chocolate and raw milk. laugh.gif

DVFlyer replied: I could give up any of those (or all) if I had to, but I voted for meat. Love my steak and chicken. smile.gif

Although salad, fruit and chocolate sound pretty good too.... Can I add those to my steak? biggrin.gif

Insanemomof3 replied: OOps lol I read it wrong and made the wrong choice. I was gonna choose pizza lol and I chose beer. Totally dumb. LOL blush.gif

DVFlyer replied:
Freudian slip??? wink.gif

Insanemomof3 replied: tongue.gif

Boo&BugsMom replied: I could never give up bread and pasta. Yum. Chocolate would be a close second.
