fashion advice STAT!!!!
PrairieMom wrote: Ok, so remember when I posted that I bought a christmas dress and shoes for $16? Here is the dress.
http://www.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?DeptID...e=18-78429388-2
It didn't come with a belt, I sewed in elastic around the waist , but now that I see it with a belt, I think I should look for one to go with it, so I will do that if I can find one. My question is shoes.
I bought gray ballet slippers to go with , they look like a cable knitt sweater. Can I wear those? and then Black leggings? I have black tights already.
I am going out shopping soon, so any help would be appreciated.
lisar replied: I think the shoes would be fine, I also think leggings would look good. JMO!
MommyToAshley replied: I would probably go with black pumps. But, what do I know about fashion.
luvbug00 replied: I think flats would be fine, but if your going for major sexy, pumps
boyohboyohboy replied: I think the belt would look good, and flats if you go with leggings or tights. I think higher heels if you go with nylons.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: Definitely a belt, black nylons (we actually say pantyhose down here) and black pumps--just like she is wearing it in the picture.
PrairieMom replied: Its for an informal house office party, I am going for bosses wife chic. Lol. Ballet flats would be more comfortable, but I am unsure about how to pull it off. I guess I will just have to see what target has tto offer
moped replied: I may have to personally come there and beat you wiht a stick if you wore ballet flats....SORRY!
Yes wide elastic belt
Shoes with heels would be good, but tall sexy boots iwth leggings would be best. But I am guessing you don't want to go drop a bunch of $$ on some tall sexy boots!!!!!
Can you borrow a pair?
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I actually don't like the shoes she's wearing in the picture. The dress is really cute though! I personally would think flats would look fine. Boots would look awesome but if you're like me you don't have any because they cost too much money for how little you'd wear them. I don't really like the look of the black nylons either, leggings would be better I think.
coasterqueen replied: That's what I was gonna say was a tall pair of heeled boots!!! I'm a boot girl, though.
Jen.....I'm scared.......we were on the same page and I have no fashion sense...YOU do!
moped replied: Haha, I am not sure how to take that karen.......I would say this isn't a tough question - NO BALLET FLATS. Sometimes you have to suck it up and NOT be comfortable to look fabulous!
Now you could go with a stacked hidden platforn patent leather shoe but I know you won't go buy those.........this shoe problem worries me a bit. Now I am not going to sleep tonight worrying about what you are going to wear~!
coasterqueen replied: I was just thinking maybe I have a teeny amount of fashion sense if I agree with the Fashion Queen.
moped replied: You seem to be coming along quite nicely!
I know it is funny to be the fashion queen but I do pride myself on this stuff - LOLOL
PrairieMom replied: LOL. Well, I wouldn't want to be hit with a stick! This is why I come to you guys. Its times like these when I really wish I had a local buddy who could help me with this stuff.
So, I'm standing there at Target with my web browser on my phone reading your posts, picking out stuff and putting it back.
Things were really picked over. But I will get a little fashion show ready for you guys. Stand by...
moped replied: Oh fun!!!!!!!!
I need to grab lunch so wait for my response!
I am worried about your shoe choices, sorry but I am!
moped replied: Oh I wish so badly I could lend you my new bracelet!!!!!!!!! That would ROCK it!
http://guess.ca/Catalog/View/B109315
No necklace needed with the cowl neck
If you were here I would lend you one of my many pairs of tall boots:
MommyToAshley replied: Oooooo.... A fashion show!!! yay!
moped replied: Or these shoes.....they aren't as high as you think because of the 1.5 inch platform, so quite do able IMO!
MommyToAshley replied: Oh fiddlesticks! I have to go get Ashley, I will have to see it when I get back.
Did I really just say fiddlesticks? You can tell I have a Hanna fan in the house. LOL
moped replied: I like thes ebetter - much higher than the ones above!
I am just having way too much fun!
moped replied: My Grams says fiddlesticks!
Maddie&EthansMom replied: The platform is much more comfortable of a shoe, too!
PrairieMom replied: I have a pair of tall black boots, but my calves are so huge from my pregnancy weight that i can't zip them all the way up.
you are not going like the shoes, but they were literally the only ones that werent completely insanely high, and this really isn't that kind of a party.
Both the belts I bought are to big. So I am going to have to go back out anyway. How annoying.
SInce the dress is charcoal, I wasn't sure about going with a black belt or not, so I bought one black and one silver-ish. after trying it on with the dress it was obvious that silver was the wrong choice.
This is a close up of the shoes. Will these get me beat? http://www.target.com/b/ref=in_se_pagelist...archRank=pmrank
PrairieMom replied: ok, photos courtesy of Al, who lets remember, is 4.
I usually take them myself in front of a mirror, but the lighting isn't working out, and you can't see the belt.

PrairieMom replied: These pics are doing nothing for me. I am not going to be able to go to this party feeling good about what I have going on. I have spanx type things on, this belt is really not helping my tummy pooch. I may have to just give up and go with Jeans and a red sweater. Here comes the pitty party....
moped replied: I don't love the shoes, any other options? I like the dress and belt great......
You need higher shoes!!! WAY HIGHER
ediep replied: I like the dress with the belt. The shoes are ok, but I agree something higher would be more flattering
my2monkeyboys replied: If you can't find any higher shoes, just wear some sheer black hose with the ones you have and that will look good! Why the pity party??? You look good, girl!!!
PrairieMom replied: I have 30 lbs left to loose, and I haven't lost a single pound since my water weight came off. Treadmill, crunches, and nothing is helping. I am really not feeling so good about myself. the pooch is really getting me, and I think the belt makes it worse.
moped replied: Tara, you look good, pease don't be so hard on yourself!!!!!!!
PrairieMom replied: thanks. It just sucks.
Ok, so tonight, the belt is going back for a smaller size, the silver belt and shoes are going back. I will try again.
moped replied: Think tall sexy shoes/boots - they aren't all uncomfortable! go black belt and black shoes and a chunky bracelet if you can find!!!!!
If you feel sexy you will look sexy regardless of how much weight you want to lose!
GOOD LUCK!
Maddie&EthansMom replied:
You look great! Don't be hard on yourself!
My3LilMonkeys replied: I think you look great! And just for the record, I'd personally go for comfort over fashion every time and wear the ballet flats. Plus then I can run faster than all the women wearing high heels coming after me with sticks.
PrairieMom replied:
MommyToAshley replied: I agree, you are being too hard on yourself. I think you look great! And, I think it will look different once you put on the black hose.... it's weird how changing one thing can change the look of your entire outfit.
coasterqueen replied: I agree!
I still think the high heeled boots would look awesome, though. I personally think they are comfortable, but that's because I wear them all winter long.
luvbug00 replied: Love it! Do it without the belt!
moped replied: Hoping you made out good tonight!
PrairieMom replied: I got a smaller belt and patent heels that are definitely high enough. Its gonna have to do, because i am not going back out again. I will take pics tomorrow.
One more question, nylons, either black, or nude, or black tights?
Maddie&EthansMom replied: black nylons, imo
PrairieMom replied: I like to wear them too. I have a pair of low high heel boots I wear under jeans, and some brown boots too, but my calves are to fat for my black boots yet, and I can only get them 2/3 of the way zipped up. Fine for under pants, but can't pull it off with the dress.
moped replied: Personally NOT nude.....black thick tights would look cool, or black nylons if all else fails!
Yes pics please!
coasterqueen replied: I agree
PrairieMom replied: Ok, final product, photo courtesy of Al.
Please excuse the boobage, my bra is in the wash. LOL. So, these shoes, tights and belt. These are tights, I also have sheer black tights, but they are footless for some reason. I don't know if I can do that with these shoes. So, can I pass? Or will I be beaten with sticks? cause I really don't want to embarrass myself in front of DH's partners.

ETA, also excuse the pile of baby crap, which I have been hanging onto until my neighbor can get over here and pick through it.
Maddie&EthansMom replied: I like it!!
I think you look adorable!
MommyToAshley replied: I like you... you pulled it all together nicely!!!
You'll look marvelous.
luvbug00 replied:
moped replied: Total pass!!!!!!! With the right bra
~Roo'sMama~ replied: I love it! The high heels make your legs look slimmer, too.
PrairieMom replied: no worries. Bra, and My trusty Chicken cuttlets. I dress up without them. Pretty sad that even tho I am still nursing, I still need those darn things to fill out a cup nicely.
A&A'smommy replied: So I have been reading and Jen said EVERYTHING i would have said!! The final product looks GREAT I LOVE the heels!!
my2monkeyboys replied: You'll be rockin, lady!!!
My3LilMonkeys replied: You look GREAT!!!!
