esonophilic disorders - anyone familiar?
boyohboyohboy wrote: we are looking at eso disorders as what might be wrong with jake. its when white blood cells attack parts of the body when they form in larger clusters then they should, and start to attack things that are good for you not just enemies... he has all the symptoms. we will know for sure when he gets his scope done this week. I am praying this is not it, as there is no cure.
please add jake to your prayers.

boyohboyohboy replied: Jake is scheduled for his upper GI on the 25th of april.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: I work in hematology and am pretty familiar with eosinophils. I can try to answer any questions.
lovemy2 replied: Upper GI? I thought he was having a scope? Upper GI from my understanding is only going to show if he in fact has reflux and if there are any abnormalities in his esphogus down to his stomach to the start of his intestines - which is definately a start but...I think a scope is much more definitive....
Poor Jake - wish there was more to do to help you - I can only suggest finding one course of action you are comfortable with and sticking to it - with Dylan in the beginning they were doing all kinds of things - changing meds, changing formulas, etc. etc. I finally picked one sset of meds and one formula and left it all alone for about a month and he responded....may not be so simple with Jake but just a suggestion....
DansMom replied: I'm sending tons of thoughts and prayers for Jake, Stacy. The 25th just seems too far away---the waiting must be excruciating.
boyohboyohboy replied: Jake is having an endoscope done, that they told us will only show his esophagus down to the top of the small intestine. They also said there is no scope that will tell us if he has reflux, the scope can show damage that might have been done from reflux, the only way to tell is he has reflux is the Ph probe. I think at some point he will need a colonoscopy to check the rest of his GI tract and determine if there are further issues.
boyohboyohboy replied: I read that the only way to definately tell if you have this disorder is with a biopsy of the spots either in the GI tract or where you think the issues are, I was wondering though, is it possible if he has this disorder, that its the esonophils that are attacking him, then does he not even have real food allergies? does that make sense? it is possible that the disease then wants to attack the foods, and then attacks his body, not his body reacting to a food allergies?
